My review is for the Activities Director, Melissa. She is excellent! She has boundless enthusiasm and energy which translates to the many activities/programs she diligently plans for residents, striving to make them all-inclusive and interesting regardless of the skill level of the resident. Most importantly Melissa has a genuine affection for the people she serves and she loves her job. Kudos Melissa!

This beautiful facility is run by wonderful staff who care about residents and put them first! Caryl-Anne is a dedicated Executive Director with years of experience as a CNA and a Registered Medication Aide. She was able to turn her old facility around and is currently working hard to turn this facility around. I left a review previously, praises for Ryan, one of the servers here at the Harrisonburg campus where my dad currently lives. After just learning from my dad that English Meadows got rid of him, I feel I need to leave another review. Visiting with my Dad, I never saw another server there take care of my dad like Ryan did. These new servers don't do it and frankly, my dad isn't pleased. Might end up moving him out honestly. Alysa doesn't take care of him either. Get better staff in the dining room. The residents pay GOOD MONEY to live here.

Today my father who is a resident here wanted to eat lunch with family and friends. The Food Service Director, Chris, set it all up for us in a Private Dining Room. He served us a delicious baked chicken, mashed potatoes and broccoli meal. Ryan served us throughout the meal and was very attentive. We appreciate them so much! My father is very happy and safe here. Peace of mind for me. Thanks so much!

My mother-in-law has been a resident at the Phoenix at Harrisonburg for over a year and has really enjoyed it and highly recommends. Management is great “ always helps to resolve problems. Staff are extremely helpful and very good at what they do. Beautiful clean facility “ that is well-kept inside and out. I love seeing their seasonal d©cor in the lobby area. Everything in the facility is easy for her to navigate with her rollator. The maintenance guy is excellent and always quick to hang items on the wall when asked. The chef is always open to meal suggestions and feedback. The Phoenix location is perfect “ very close to the hospital which is convenient for doctor appointments. Mother-in-law really enjoys the craft activities and bus trips (some of her favorites include Gift and Thrift, library, getting ice cream, Green Valley Book Fair, and looking at Christmas lights). Activities and outings have all increased since the Phoenix at Harrisonburg has grown. She also enjoys it when outside groups come for activities “ such as musicians and local schools. My husband and I have attended various activities during her stay and have really enjoyed them “ such as Christmas Open House, Thanksgiving family meal, bingo, family breakfast, Valentine’s Day dance, and Mother’s Day tea. She loves the snacks and drinks put out in the bistro area for the residents. We have really enjoyed using the activity room for larger family get-together’s “ layout and ability to reserve makes it super easy and convenient for our holiday meal. The Phoenix at Harrisonburg is best fit for our needs.

It has been one year since my Mother moved into The Phoenix at Harrisonburg. It was a tough transition moving from her home in another state to an assisted living environment. With the help and care of the staff, my Mother has a beautiful and comfortable apartment. She has made many friends, started a library and runs a book club. She enjoys all of the musicians that perform periodically and enjoys the camaraderie with her friends during meals. The facilities are pristine and are easily accessible by the residents. All staff, from the director to the event coordinator, to all medical staff and assistants have been available for my Mother's needs. In addition, when her children have questions or concerns, we are contacted promptly to hear answers or develop solutions together. They are working on making better meals for the residents along with complying with their individual dietary restrictions and requirements. The financial coordinator and marketing director have been helpful as well. My Mother now proudly calls Phoenix her home.

After visiting other places in the Augusta and Rockingham County areas, The Phoenix at Harrisonburg was a clear choice. It is new, well-designed, well-decorated, full of natural light, just the right size and a good value compared to others. A few other facilities we really liked require a high six figure asset pledge which we cannot afford. At the Phoenix, the fees are monthly, based on individual needs and easy to understand. We also did the math and since the fees are all inclusive, it is half the cost of keeping a home or apartment and paying for in home caregivers and domestic help. We love the staff that interacts daily with Momthey are patient, caring and well-trained. No facility is perfect, but we feel this is the best of its type in the area.

I am doing this for Janet. The facility is beautiful and the rooms are large. I am comfortable here and have been well cared for. I do not like how they have changed the care givers shifts and would prefer to have them returned to 8 hr shifts for consistency. I get very discouraged when my laundry is not done correctly. There are certain people such as Kim and Mallory that do a great job. I believe they need to invest in more than one washer for my wing. The food is not very good. I am a very good cook and sometimes I cannot even identify what they are serving. Most of the time the meat is too tough to eat and I can not begin to describe the shepards pie that was served. The amount we play continues to increase however the quality of the food does not. Please train your staff in the kitchen. I really like it here but find myself spending more money than I should to have tasty meals.

Davis Bradley is a music duo that has the pleasure to entertain the fine residents at The Phoenix at Harrisonburg monthly. The staff and programming director, Melissa are always welcoming and accommodating. They are engaged with the residents throughout the concert, making sure a good time is had by all. We love working with the staff and residents at Phoenix Senior Living! My summer group and grade school groups have both participated in activities with the residents and staff. These are fun and engaging activities for both groups! Highly recommend this facility!

I have seen the best and the worst of this new facility. If you want an honest report, get in touch with me. My husband lived in the memory unit for 3 months and a half. I was his main caregiver. Beautiful/Modern facility. Doesn't feel like an old time "nursing home" (which is not, it is an assisted living one) Good light. Understaffed. As usual you will encounter people who cares (4 in 10) and people who are too in-matured to do this job or dont care, plain and simple. If you loved one is dependable, meaning he or she needs a wheelchair to move around, THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR HIM/HER. Not highly trained staff. Specially for Memory Unit challenges. If your loved one suffers from PARANOIA episodes which are tightly linked to Dementia and Alzheimer's, this is NOT A PLACE FOR YOU!. (I have plenty to say about this) (run!) No good bedside manners. As I said, I have seen the best, and I mean it.. and the worst of this Care facility. Nanny GLICK

I was impressed with the Phoenix being able to staff this facility when they opened as it is a time where people don’t really want to work. Instead the staff is always friendly and smiling and very doting of my mother. I feel confident that she is safe, secure and happy at the Phoenix.
