This community is beautiful and has a robust activities program. You are always greeted by the friendly front desk staff. I've watched interaction with the aides and the residents and they seem like they truly care about their wellbeing. The administrator and the Wellness Director are nurses so they are able to oversee the residents' care with a clinical eye. This community fills up fast as it's in a great location. You need to stop by and take a tour with the caring sales team.

I have very mixed feelings about Riverside Courtlands. On the surface, the facility is beautiful, well-maintained, and offers appealing amenities for residents. The admission process was quick and efficient, and for someone who is largely independent and only needs minimal support, this could seem like a great option. However, once any level of real care is needed, serious issues become evident. The facility does not have an RN on staff ” only CNAs ” and during the night shift, the entire facility is often run by just two CNAs “ not even a manager in charge. This lack of proper staffing creates a dangerous situation for residents who need more attention or might be at risk for falls. During our time there, falls were frequent, and one day alone saw three residents were taken to the ER due to injuries. I was constantly seeing residents with bruised faces, etc. walking around. The call button system is unreliable, especially at night, and response times can be worryingly slow. Often when they did have adequate staffing you could find 4-5 of the CNAs outside the dining room door congregating. This would be a good time to round with the residents who might not be able to go to the dining room. Another concern was the pressure I felt to use CorsoCare for hospice services ” a provider located two hours away from our location. Unfortunately, that experience was far from ideal and felt more like a convenience for the facility than a benefit for us. I wonder if there is some sort of partnership between the two. In short, if your loved one is active, fully mobile, and doesn’t require much in the way of assistance, this might be a pleasant place for them to live. But if they need attentive care or medical oversight, I would not recommend Riverside Courtlands. It offers a nice place to stay ” with meals, activities, and a roof over your head ” but very little in the way of actual care, which sadly did not support my loved one in their final days. Also, I will say the sales gal was SO nice and helpful during the sign on / move in process but once our loved one passed away we received not one condolence from any of the staff “ not one. We received a bill and a notice to vacate the room. I found that very unsettling considering how nice and helpful they were to start.

This is a beautiful community with the most amazing residents. The Life Enrichment team is incredible and makes the community fun and exciting. The maintenance director is friendly and kind. He is super helpful and always goes above and beyond. The gals at the reception desk greet you with a warm smile and genuinely love their jobs. The admissions director is bubbly and fun. She is knowledgeable and makes you feel at home the second you walk through the door. The dietary staff work diligently to meet all the nutritional needs and requests of the residents with a smile. There is a new executive director who feels like a friend after your first encounter. She is going to be a great leader and mentor to all of the staff. Last but not least, the caregivers and med techs with longevity truly are invested in the community members who live there. They work overtime and stay over extra hours to ensure everyone is cared for. This community has been through some changes recently, but they have not wavered in their love for the residents. With change comes growth and I encourage you tour this community and get to know the residents and team that call Riverside Gardens home.

My mom recently moved into this facility on January 3rd. We selected Cortland by Riverside over several other assisted living facilities in the area. The process was seamless. We initially had to have them do an assessment to determine the level of care my mom required. The administrator (Joy) and the Sales and Marketing Director (Allyson) came to our residence for the assessment recognizing it would be difficult to get my mom there and back. Upon doing a tour of the facility, Allyson was vey detail oriented and patient enough to answer all of our questions. The facility is very clean and has a small number of residents which my mom really liked. There are many fun activities for her to participate in and they go the extra mile to make sure to provide a personalized experience. As an example, my mom is a vegetarian and they have gone out there way to ensure she has everything she like for all meals. My mom tells me the food is very good which was shocking because she is very picky as she gets older. Upon move in, they made it very easy for us and all of the staff came up and introduced themselves. Somehow, they already knew who we were and are all friendly and knew so much about my mom already. I was worried about her ability to acclimate to her new home but on the first night, Allyson text me and told me she had already made friends and was having dinner with them. This was unprompted and much appreciated. If you love your mom as much as I do, it would be a disservice to not consider Cortland by Riverside. They understand the unique needs of each family and treat you and your loved ones as if you were one of their own. I could not be more thankful for their professionalism, kindness, attention to detail and all of the things they have provided that are above and beyond what we expected.

I'm a Go Bus driver, and I was visiting one of my passengers who invited me over for happy hour after my shift. So I accepted. The staff was very pleasant. So nice, and they all knew who I was from being a driver. They accepted me right in. From being Riverside Elementary School to the Vista; They did quite a remarkable job remodeling it. The residents there are really nice and welcoming, and I will have to do this again, as I have been welcomed back anytime, by the staff and residence.

Place is always clean. Staff is helpful and friendly. They have so many events to keep my sister busy.

Directly from my heart, "the best of the best" truly, we as guests, were given the red carpet. The question of "theres room for improvement" never came up. A first class operation, starting with the numerous amount of staff, the gorgeous facility, and the many activities made available to the residents. Sincerity was indeed noticed. Don't change a thing. Setting the standards may be the best of what we can say about Vista Springs. Dave & Joyce Raymond

Very nice clean facility. People were friendly and helpful
January 2023
Great facility and caring staff. My mother was there for a short time for respite care with hospice. The rooms have a nice set up and are very clean. Everyone we met had a great attitude and was very caring. The staff was awesome starting with the director who sets the tone got everything in place, the wellness director who spent a lot of time with mom and was very attentive, the program director was great for the short time we were there but we loved their happy hour with the residents. Mom got great care from the aides and received her medications on time. The kitchen staff who brought meals and housekeeping did a great job. We made the right choice by choosing Vista Springs Riverside Gardens for Mom's final days and cannot thank them enough. Thank you.

Very nice building and friendly staff but they are short staffed. My Aunt is bed bound and didn't get dinner one night or breakfast the next day

This place looks very nice. But did not have enough support for our family member.

My mother n law is in this place and we love it! The care she gets is so much better than so many other places she has been. Her room feels like a room helps her feel like she is at home. We are so please with this place to the staff to how hard they have also worked to keep residents safe from covid 19. Thank you Vista Springs from the Cole and Stewart family
December 2018
Love this place. Our experience has exceeded all expectations. From food quality and variety to maintenance helpfulness with a smiling face - to wonderful activities that are creative and something for everyone - to the great aids , med staff, and nurse (even a few choices for a doctor to come to you... including bloodwork) - to the greeters who seem to know every answer to whatever question we have - to laundry and housekeeping that are super efficient and always with a big smile asking how you are - to a preschool on site for multigenerational interaction (complete with background checks) - Vista Riverside is amazing. Resort-like amenities. Assisted care IS assisted. (AKA freedom of choice to not shower or stay in bed watching TV... they are not your loved ones babysitters. They give dignity with assisting. You summon them - as well as they getting to know the loved one and checking on them more frequently if needed.) Staff is always stopping by seeing how loved one is doing in their room... having a chat... inviting them to an activity that may be interesting. Yes - some staff find other opportunities that work better for them. Yet the transition is smooth and the incoming staff is very well trained. (Former nurse with long term care experience here.) IF finances would ever be a concern (down the line) - know that Riverside does not participate with the Medicare WAIVER program - but their 'sister' Vista sites around town (just as resort -like) DO - with certain requirements for length of stay and such first. If you call around, a lot of places sound cheaper, but add in all sorts of add ons with levels of care on top of that. This is ALL inclusive. IF loved one declines and needs more than assisted care - the Vista family of facilities will work with you to ensure loved one has a safe place to go to (one of their other facilities.) Things can change quickly - but you have to alert them... as certain things need to be in place. It can be stressful at times taking care of the needs of loved ones. From our experience, Vista Springs - and Riverside - is a place that we would recommend hands-down. No if's and's or but's. Everyone has a different story and experience. It gets confusing as to who to believe with online reviews - but check out this facility as well as the other Vista communities for yourself. Hoping it will be 'full of life' for you, as it has been for us. Wishing you and your loved ones the best.
