For the first 20 years (2005-2025) Kahala Nui was a place that was resident focused. Management and staff were committed to enriching the lives of residents. People lived in safety and beauty. The financial audits each year proved a healthy and responsible management. When management changed i 2022, everything went downhill. The majority of residents agree that the good feeling disappeared. The Board of Directors has made it clear that they support the coldness and incompetence of current management and have not expressed any interest in resident concerns. The prices have gone up a lot and salaries and bonuses for management are outrageous. The special place that it was is no more. So sad.

Anyone interested in Kahala Nui should question them on the prices and monthly fees. They will explain it, but it is not the truth. A knowledge person would know that the prices and fees are too high. Speak to friends/relatives here. If you don't know anyone, ask to speak to Resident Association President or Vice President. They will probably give you some excuse not to, because they are afraid of what residents will say. Life here would be much better with management and a Board of Directors who care about the residents. The Board and management have stated in early 2023 that their fiduciary duty is to the Kahala Nui organization and not its residents. Residents have no say as to who is on the Board. The Board gives management outrageous bonuses at the expense of resident (over $100k to the CEO in 2023). In 2025, our monthly rates were increased by 7%. In 2026, the increase will probably be higher. The Board does not care. Also don’t believe their budgeting process. They charge residents depreciation on the facility. Kahala Nui has over $160M in their investment fund. So why are prices and fees so high, because they are running Kahala Nui like a For-Profit business vs the Non-Profit that we are. In 2023 and 2024, over 70% of Independent Living residents (signatures) disapproved of the Board and management. All we want is a fair shake. New residents moving in are shocked by the attitude of management and the Board. Some people on the waitlist have decide to go elsewhere. You might say why don't you move. Would you move from your home, or fight for your home. We are fighting for our home. Life was good prior to the new CEO (2022)/CFO (2024). The CEO/CFO never walks around the facility, because they know residents don't like them.

Kahala Nui is an exclusive retirement home for those that require the best in services and amenities. Apartments range from 1 bedroom and 1 bath to those that require extra space with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths.

Kahala Nui is a Senior home and adult day care. Waterfall at the entrance of parking lot and pindar the entry door. Beautiful landscape. Plush tropical decor.

My parents moved into independent living in 2005. Since then, my mother has moved through increasing levels of care. The ambiance and service are wonderful and the staff who care for my mother are loving and warm. We are very grateful that she is in a place where we know she is so well cared for.

Kahala Nui is where I would want my kupuna, my elders, to retire to if they needed or wanted. The accommodation, service, and support of individual needs is 5 star plus!

The staff my mother and our family encountered on all levels of care so far have been caring and compassionate. The grounds are well groomed and inviting. Hawaiian aloha at its finest.
