When we first looked into Amber Court, we were shown a beautiful room and were interested in private pay for my father’s stay. They asked for his insurance information and Social Security number, which we provided right away. We were then rushed to have paperwork filled out by two providers. After completing everything, we were suddenly told that because my father had Medicaid, he couldn’t have a private room. This place needs to be looked into seriously. I can count on one hand the staff members who have consistently shown empathy and basic human decency. The rest is a joke. The turnover rate among the aides is extremely high, and office managers seem to quit every few months. Families are kept in the dark about almost everything case managers included. Even with us handling my father’s laundry ourselves, his clothing still went missing or was mixed up with other residents’ items. Each time we visited, he was often wearing someone else’s clothes. We frequently picked him up for weekends and holidays, and I’ve never once seen an aide with him during visits. Residents are left sitting in the lobby or dining area all day with no activities, games, or engagement at all. The financial department has also been a nightmare to deal with. Communication is almost impossible calls go unanswered, and when someone finally responds, all you get is the same we’ll look into it and call you back response that never leads to any resolution. My father is not even a resident anymore, yet we’re still receiving bills despite notifying both the case manager and the financial representative, Nellie, multiple times since July. November 5th bank charged for rent from Amber Court. Ridiculous! We even experienced a situation where my father fell and we were never informed that’s a serious safety concern. How many other instances had this happen and a family member not been informed? His long-term medications were changed without any notice to the family, which is completely unacceptable. To make things worse, he was moved from a room with a private bathroom to a shared bathroom simply because another resident didn’t like having a roommate all while paying nearly $3,000 a month. The only positive experience we had was with the afternoon front desk receptionist, who was always kind, remembered my father by name, and treated him with care. Unfortunately, that’s the only good thing I can say about this facility. I don’t know where the positive reviews come from, but our experience has been deeply disappointing. I would not recommend Amber Court in the Bronx to anyone looking for a safe, respectful, or well-managed environment for their loved one.

We received a tour of the facilities in Pelham Gardens from Ashley Lopez, and she was so friendly, knowledgeable, and straight-forward answering our many questions that we left knowing that this was the place we had been searching for. I noted how kind she was to all the residents we passed while on the tour, and she not only knew every one of their names, but also their personal details as she exchanged jokes with many of them. The entire staff we met seemed above average, as well, as well have visited several of these types of facilities, but Ashley’s enthusiasm really made a very positive, lasting warm impression.

My wife and I just came back from a tour of Amber Court with Ashley and we could not have been more impressed. We are looking for a possible place for our aunt who turns 102 in March. The facility is spotlessly clean, bright and and has such a cheerful atmosphere. All of the staff seem truly happy in their work and were so accommodating to us during our tour and visit. I chatted at length with the resident librarian and promised to donate some books for their already well-stocked library. Kudos to Ashley and all the staff and trainees at Amber Court for their selfless work with the 180 residents there. They are a true blessing to our community!

Must read. Hi, my love one has been living at Amber court assisted living for almost a yr. Here is a detailed review of upper management & staff. My mom has reached an age where she needs companionship and 24 hr assistant care. She is fragile and susceptible to falls. I’m a working parent. Unfortunately it means I’m not around as much. It can lead to her not having someone to help her do the little things. She has had incidents with no one around to help. My Lioness needs care 24 hrs and it hurts to admit that I can not provide that care for her. So here we are On our first visit I can tell that my love one was nervous. I was very anxious too. From independence to a shared room away from home. That’s a lot for anyone We were greeted by Ashley. Amazing lady. Her energy was uplifting and she gave us a tour and addressed all of our concerns. An hour into our tour I could tell why she was hired. Soon we were talking about our kids. Definitely helped soothe my anxiety. She explained the process and how carefully they went about choosing the right roommate for my mom. Almost a yr later and they were right on. My mom still has the same roommate. Carmen is a very charming lady. Director HHA Dahiana, What a lovely personality. Received us with open arms. She has a great relationship with everyone. She always checks up on us and constantly ask if there is anything that Amber Court can provide. When she isn’t busy working you can spot her mingling around with the residents and lighting up the place with her laugh and energy. She cares for everyone we care for her too. Another great hire Front desk, Various employees greet me from time to time. Chantel commonly greets me. Always Cordial, and always updates me on my mother demeanor and her whereabouts. They’re all great and very receptive. Common area, I’m not sure who the event coordinator is. But thank you. Expect Amber court to decorate its hall for every occasion. Super adorable snd helps lift each resident spirit. They sometimes bring in a singer (great). Not sure if they have bingo night or karaoke. If you do not, you should. Please include prize. We live in a city that is very diversified. Why only English shows or movies? I understand how difficult it must be to satisfy every culture. My suggestion is for certain hrs or a certain day to be dedicated to some Spanish/show or movies. Maybe make the tv on the floor 1 Spanish. These ladies are very attentive. I appreciate them. Breakfast/lunch/dinner. Food is cooked to perfection. As an ex sous chef. There are two items I hope and strongly suggest get removed from the menu. Overall my mother enjoys her meals 5 out 7 days. Staff: various ladies. My mother gets assigned helpers everyday to clean her room and bathroom. They are always popping up in her room to check up on her. Of course she complains that they don’t let her sleep and that gives me peace of mind knowing that they are constantly checking up on her. I’m especially thankful to Yarismel & Ana. With no language barrier they provide a share taste of back home and a love of music. I almost forgot to mention how lovely the surrounding area is. We enjoy going for a walk or spin. Great job Amber Court. Hiring the right people make this a must for love ones. P.S. the first week was the toughest and most challenging. Please have patience Thank you Roberto Iglesias.

I saw the end of dinner tonight and witnessed the laughter amongst the staff and residents. Yesterday I toured Amber Court of Pelham Gardens with Ashley, and I can't be more pleased. As an only child, navigating the assisted living path for my elderly mom has been overwhelming. However, from Ashley's warm greeting to Ashley showing me the facility as well as the resources available, it made me feel comforted and more at ease. Ashley's human touch, compassion, patience and depth of knowledge was the breath of fresh air I need at a time where so many transitions are occurring within our family. With all the services available as well as the daily activities my mom could take part in and restart gaining her enthusiasm for life, it has made this facility one that I will be scheduling a follow up tour with my mom. We can’t thank the wonderful staff and community members of Amber Court at Pelham Gardens enough. From the minute we arrived for our walk-through, this place felt like a community we could get on board with for our Loved One. We had visited nursing homes and left each one feeling scared and defeated. We didn’t need that level of care. We just needed her to be around people, part of a loving community, with health aides to help with daily things. The staff immediately showed us that we had found THE place! On our walk-though with Diane Arroya, residents were coming up and joking with her. A large group of people were sitting in the main TV room talking and there was music playing. Residents were walking around and just looked like they were living their lives. It was everything we were looking for. Ashley Lopez and Diane quickly helped us with the paperwork and we were able to move our Loved one in about a month later. She has now been there for almost 3 months and the change in her attitude and demeanor does not go unnoticed. She is smiling and joking whenever we go visit. She is no longer lonely. She has friends and does daily stretches/ exercises which help with her mobility. She is eating 3 meals a day in the dining hall with other residents. The staff says that she has been an asset to the community and they always tell us how happy she makes everyone around her, and how much they love having her there. We are eternally grateful for everyone involved at Amber Court in Pelham Gardens for turning what was an emotionally unbearable move into one that we are happy with and proud of.

My aunt is a current resident at Amber Court of Pelham Gardens. My aunt has been residing at Amber Court for many years. My family and I watch this place go from 3 administrators to the current administrator now. My family and I usually don’t make complaints unless it’s minor things that need to be fix in her room, but, when there is an issue of things that need to be fixes in her room the maintenance man is helpful and takes care of it right away. COVID was one of the worst years of everybody's life, my family and I did not know whether we were going to take our aunt home or leave her at Amber Court. Either way she didn’t want to come home with us because she felt comfortable staying with her roommate at the time, that told me a lot about Amber Court. I’ve heard so many stories from my co-workers about the bad treatment their loved ones received while in the nursing home/assisted living, but I was not able to relate. Not only did my aunt get the best treatment, so did my family, the nurse that’s in charge called me and my family with updates, the administrator was helpful with questions my family had. Amber Court tried their best to attend to all the residents’ needs, the aides were incredible. We did have some issues with the doctor, I’m still not that sure of him but the lady that works with him in the back was helpful. Yes, there have been some issues in the past but not all these places are perfect. but, as of recently I have not been getting the proper treatment from case management. In the years my aunt has been at Amber Court I have never had an issue with case management. I don’t want to name anybody on my review, but the young lady (case manager) is unprofessional, when she does pick up your call, she sounds like you're bothering her, and she never returns your calls when you leave a message with the receptionist. When you do call, you’re being told she’s not in today, the gentlemen (case manager) I’m not too fond of but he does answer the phone and returns my calls. Currently till this day my aunt continues to ask for Ms. Dubois she was wonderful and is very well missed at Amber Court.

My sister was accepted into Amber Court, Pelham Gardens due to the many phone calls to different agents (doctors, etc.) by Ms. Madelane Sadia, Community Relations Director. This was a time sensitive situation and Ms. Sadia's attention to detail was just phenomenal! Amber Court will stay one of the leaders in Assisted Living facilities with this young, energetic woman.
