Reviews Waltonwood Providence
July 2026
My mother resided on the Independent Living side of the property for 5 years. She enjoyed living there. There were a few hiccups along the way but all in all the people were good to her. I’m writing this review because of what happened when she got sick and ultimately moved into long term care at a different facility. Waltonwood does not offer long term care. I realize Waltonwood is a business but it is a business that is based on resident care. My mom deteriorated very quickly and died one month after being taken to the hospital. No one at Waltonwood reached out to me once she died except to respond to an email, saying sorry to hear about your mom. In contrast, Wellmore’s long term care, where she only spent the last 15 days of her life sent a card, flowers and wind chimes with a picture of my mom to my home. I found Waltonwood’s response very disappointing. Even though she was a long term resident I was left with the feeling from Waltonwood of out of sight, out of mind.

Waltonwood has exceeded every expectation our family had for memory care!!! My aunt resides in the memory care neighborhood, and we could not be more grateful for the exceptional care she receives each day. The staff are patient, compassionate, loving, and genuinely dedicated to the well-being of every resident. From the caregivers to the nursing team, everyone treats residents with dignity, respect, and kindness. It is evident that they truly care about the people they serve. One aspect that has impressed us most is the way the staff actively engage residents through a wide variety of meaningful activities. My aunt is thriving in this environment, and it has been wonderful to see her remain involved, stimulated, and connected. The nursing staff consistently monitor and assess residents to ensure they are receiving the appropriate level of care as their needs change. They communicate closely with our family, welcome our input, and work collaboratively to implement new ideas and approaches that enhance my aunt’s quality of life. The dining experience is outstanding as well. The food is excellent, and menus are thoughtfully designed around residents’ preferences and nutritional needs. Most importantly, Waltonwood has given our family tremendous peace of mind. Knowing that my aunt is safe, cared for, and surrounded by compassionate professionals every day is an incredible blessing. We wholeheartedly recommend Waltonwood to any family seeking exceptional memory care for a loved one.

I recently visited Waltonwood Providence to spend time with a resident who is very dear to my heart. I make it a priority to visit as often as life allows, and while my personal visit with my loved one was lovely, I left feeling deeply unsettled by what I experienced within the building. Over the course of several visits, I have begun to notice concerning behavior that goes far beyond minor issues. During this most recent visit, I overheard multiple CNAs speaking inappropriately”not only about each other, but also about residents. The language used was vulgar, unprofessional, and completely unacceptable in a setting where compassion and respect should be the standard. At one point, I heard a CNA on the phone openly discussing a resident’s condition in a joking and dismissive manner, laughing with a friend about something that should be treated with dignity and privacy. Stating how she wouldn’t be able to get through her shift without her Happy JuiceThat moment, in particular, was incredibly disturbing. Additionally, I have overheard staff members speaking negatively about leadership, specifically mentioning that the executive director, John . As well as the RN Brittany gossiping about other employees currently working , but ones who have been let go as well. Whether these claims are true or not, the fact that such conversations are happening so openly in the workplace speaks volumes about the environment. I truly want to love Waltonwood, and I have tried to give the benefit of the doubt. However, I cannot ignore what I have consistently heard within these walls. It leaves me feeling ashamed, uncomfortable, and honestly embarrassed. Most of all, it makes me worry”if this is how residents are spoken about openly, what might be happening behind closed doors? I can’t help but wonder if my loved one could be subjected to the same level of disrespect. I hope this review is taken seriously, because the residents in your care deserve dignity, professionalism, and kindness at all times.

The staff at Waltonwood is very kind and attentive. They know every resident by name. Plenty of fun activities. Grounds are well maintained with lots of beautiful flowers. Also it’s being freshly renovated top to bottom! My mom feels at home and well cared for.

This community is so lovely and the staff is very sweet. I cannot recommend this place more and am so fortunate to have it in my community.

My mother who is 94 has been at Waltonwood Providence since December 2023, first in Assisted Living (AL) and then moving to Memory Care (MC) in April of this year. Prior to living in Waltonwood she spent time in two other AL facilities here in the Charlotte area. We are far and away happiest with Waltonwood. From the start the communication has been strong, the staff kind and professional, and everyone including the director John are always available and ready to help work with us on creating the best possible life for my mom. Since moving to MC my mom has joined in activities organized by Bethany that have been varied and interesting. The MC residents have done things like watch the planes and eat a picnic lunch at the airport overlook, visit the Lazy 5 ranch, go out for lunch or coffee and shop at the Dollar Tree. I always appreciate Bethany sending photos to me of my mom showing what she is doing. There are also crafts and activities in MC as well and on different days I’ve found my mom happily coloring, painting a dog dish or bagging dog treats for the local animal shelter. We feel fortunate to have found a place where my mom is loved on and cared for with such dedication.

Waltonwood has been a wonderful place. My dad has lived here now 2 years and loves it. Lots of activities & food is great. Staff exceeds our expectations & eagerly solves problems if they arise. We enjoy coming for all the holiday lunches- they do a great job!

Waltonwood Providence is such a lovely facility. The grounds are well maintained and the staff are kind and helpful. We were pleasantly surprised with the welcoming atmosphere and detailed decor. My daughter and I recently attended a lady's luncheon and thoroughly enjoyed our time with the residents. The coordinators do a wonderful job planning events and activities! We hope to return in the future.

Having a parent in memory care is such an emotional experience. My mother was in two facilities prior to going to WW. They were both nightmares and my mother deteriorated while there. When we moved her to WW it was a miracle. She is so happy now- she participates in group activities, she SINGS, she does crafts. The staff is attentive and caring and make all the difference. I thank god every day we moved her into this facility. I highly recommend it.

Waltonwood Providence has helped to bring back joy to my mother’s life. I visit her twice a week, at all different times, and she is always happy and participating in group activities. She is very rarely in her room other than bedtime. My mom is always clean and the staff has really helped her get back on a continence schedule. All of the staff is friendly and caring with my mom, especially Bethany D! The staff consistently get her involved in activities that help her to retain the memories she has. My mom goes on outings to lunch or dinner or activities such as pottery making at least twice a week. My mom was at two previous memory care units in the area and was never happy, mostly always sitting with a dirty and never went on outings. Waltonwood Providence has restored joy to my mom’s life!
September 2023
My father-in-law has lived at Waltonwood for a year and a half and he is very happy there. He has become involved in the many activities and is thriving in the Independent Living facility. The staff is helpful and accommodating and so far it has been a very positive experience for our entire family. We often attend family dinners and special events and it is always enjoyable.
September 2023
My sisters and I are overjoyed with the Waltonwood Providence experience that our Mother is receiving. The apartment is lovely and there are so many activities at Waltonwood to keep all of the residents busy and entertained. All of the staff are very caring for the residents and guests. Waltonwood has exceeded our expectations, and we are very appreciative for their hard work!
August 2023
All of the personnel at WW go out of their way to exceed the wants, needs, and demands of their residents. The manager, leasing team, all of the concierges at front desk and the maintenance team all smile and are happy to assist the residents and guests. Customer service is top notch. We are very pleased with my mother in law’s choice to live at Waltonwood.
August 2023
We went through a very difficult time with my father and Cara N, Natalie and Ashley were instrumental in his care! This is the absolute best place for my parents! Thank you, Waltonwood!

I have been living here 3 and a half years. I have several orthopedic problems. The care here is so good. The caregivers are very caring also the housekeeping is very good.
March 2023
On a great visit to Waltonwood Providence I was very impressed with the community. The lobby was decorated so beautiful and the dining area was so nice. But most of all Cara Nirenberg, the Senior Marketing Manager, greeted me with such a beautiful smile and was so friend to me. She also introduced me to Matt who I really enjoyed talking to. These two employees deserve great praise in the way they do their jobs. I have been too many functions at Waltonwood Providence and they planned them so well. Everything was so organized. I love Waltonwood and it is a great community. I have visited many retirement living centers but you all are the best! I talk to all my friends ab out how wonderful it is at Waltonwood. Matt Cara and the entire team are so attentive to their residents and their future residents. Top notch! I'd recommended checking out Waltonwood for your loved ones as well! And always as for Cara or Matt as these two are simply the best!!
March 2023
Our Levine JCC Oasis program spent a wonderful morning and afternoon at Waltonwood Providence today. We had lunch, took a tour, and watched a movie there. The staff, especially Cara and Matt, couldn't have been any more accommodating. We appreciate the efforts made by Waltonwood Providence today. Their hospitality was outstanding.
March 2023
I have resided at Waltonwood Providence since July 9th, 2022 and it was one of the best decisions I ever made. The staff and fellow residents are very friendly, the activities are great, the dining is wonderful and getting transportation to medical and dental appointments is easily acquired. The last was important to me as I had a stroke the end of August and Waltonwood has been extremely helpful during my recovery period . I had previously investigated many independent living facilities and for me, Waltonwood was clearly the correct choice!
February 2023
Great staff and wonderful facility
September 2022
Waltonwood Providence is a well-maintained facility with excellent and caring staff. I’m an entertainer there and have been in both sides of the building and can say that I would be very comfortable leaving my mother or other family member in their care. Their attention to detail in both cleanliness as well as care for their residence is evident everywhere you look. They keep the residents busy with inside entertainment as well as outings to different restaurants as well as other zoos, museums etc. If you are thinking about putting a family member into a community in the Charlotte area, I would definitely encourage you to check out this property!

My mom currently lives in Memory Care and I can say it has been wonderful so far. The transition from Independent Living to Memory Care was seamless because of the wonderful staff. Bethany, the Life Enrichment Manager, is AMAZING and genuinely shows care and compassion for each resident. The activities help keep the residents engaged and active. My mom is thriving because of the staff at Waltonwood. All of the nurses; caregivers; Gloria, the cosmetologist; Grace, the Special Care Coordinator; kitchen staff; maintenance staff; front desk staff, etc are amazing. They go out of their way to learn the residents names as well as their family members, make sure the little things are taken care of and most importantly they make my mom feel like a superstar. I no longer have to worry about my mom's well being because they take such great care of their residents. I have no regrets in my choice for care for my mom - Waltonwood has exceeded my expectations.
October 2021
Wonderful facility!
October 2021
The experience and creativity that comes from the life enrichment team is one of a kind. You can tell the certifications and licensure (LRT) makes all the difference in the programming and how the residents engage. Truly letting them age in place.
October 2021
My husband has been a resident in Waltonwood Providence Memory Care for almost a year. My son and I have been very pleased with the staff's care and concern in meeting the individualized needs and concerns of each resident. Grace Gallozzi, Memory Care Wellness Coordinator, is truly the best! She is always available to answer and address any medical issues/concerns. We will always appreciate her leadership in facilitating the best possible transition for my husband from home to memory care; she genuinely has a heart and passion for what she does. Bethany DeGennaro, Memory Care Life Enrichment Manager, provides an outstanding program of activities for the Memory Care residents. Her genuine care, concern, and enthusiasm underline all of her planned, well-organized activities. She is a "ray of sunshine" every day, and her positive, smiling personality adds an extra active dimension to the residents' lives. I am always excited to see the smile on my husband's face when he is engaged in the social outings on field trips and during inside activities. I have been impressed, too, with the leadership of Jeff Plummer, Executive Director. He is an active administrator who works diligently and proficiently in providing a united, positive community for the entire staff and the residents. A highly effective communicator, he has always provided timely, purposeful information to families regarding vaccines, booster shots, Covid-19, and other staff updates related to the "community." Of course, most important of all: the staff members on all three shifts who are with the residents daily and are consistently doing their best to provide quality, individualized care in the Waltonwood Providence Memory Care.

October 2021
Great community with amazing quality of care!
October 2021
My mother-in-law is a resident at Waltonwood and she recently transitioned from Assisted Living to Memory Care. I am giving a high rating in appreciation for those caregivers and support staff who have been especially kind to her and helpful to my husband. I cannot name them all, however, I have heard the most about Jen, Savanah and Bethany. The best/easiest thing about the move to MC was that she will have more interaction with Bethany.
October 2021
Enjoy the residents company & how organized & friendly all of the staff is!!
October 2021
I do not have a loved one residing at Waltonwood, but have children who have spent years at the facility as employees and the caring and dedication of the staff move me. I do have personal experience with family and other senior care facilities and it is so sad how little involvement there is. It's rare to find staff who are sincere and whole-heartedly dedicated to the care of the residents as special individuals and as the parents of others. Theirs dedication should be commended.
October 2021
My wife has been a resident in the Memory Care unit for just over a year and I have been very pleased over the level of care she has received. Grace Gazzolli, Bethany DeGennero, and Samantha Toms have been most helpful in making sure that my wife is as comfortable and safe as possible.
October 2021
I am very impressed with the care , cleanliness and the attention that the residents get here. They have a fabulous dining room with great food. They have plenty of activities for the residents to do as they choose. All the employees at Walton Woods care about there residents. It truly shows. I am a private caregiver for a resident here and i see how hard they work each day.

Waltonwood Providence Memory care should be very thankful to have Bethany DeGennaro as an employee. She is an amazing young lady who truly loves her job. Her job title is listed as life enrichment assistant and that is exactly what she does. She definitely has enriched my fathers life while he is a resident there.
January 2021
My siblings and I moved our parents into assisted living at Waltonwood Providence in early 2019 after our mother had a severe stroke in 2018. The facility, management, enrichment staff, caregivers and all of the support people are generally wonderful. We loved WW before Covid and have been extremely grateful for their diligence and care during Covid. Our parents have come to love their apartment, their caregivers, and the many new friends they have made. Thank you!
January 2021
My mother has lived at Waltonwood Providence for almost 5 years (Assisted Living and Memory Care). Over the years, a lot of different situations have come up and each time, the Waltonwood staff has been there for my mother, me and my siblings. I am continually impressed with their caring attitude, the kindness they show, knowledge they bring and ability to handle whatever comes their way. I also feel especially fortunate knowing that my mother has been a part of the wonderful Waltonwood family during this past pandemic year! Some of the wonderful staff include Janet, Lisa, Dana, Nancy, Jeff, Tom, Shirley, Ernie, Carrie, Cara, Amanda, Ashley, Samantha, Bethany, Grace, Fanny, Roxy, Vicki, Steve, Eric, Miss K, Katina, Eddie, Sarah, Raven, Shannan and so many more!
January 2021
My husband has been at Waltonwood on Providence in Assisted Living for more than two years. He and I couldn't be happier with the service and treatment there. A great big shout out to the administrative staff, caregivers, culinary, life enrichment, housekeeping, drivers and maintenance departments. This is a difficult time and you are all wonderful and doing a fabulous job! Thank you. P.S. If I could, you would get more than 5 stars!
January 2021
My mother has been at Waltonwood Providence for several years, first in independent living and now in assisted living. The staff have cared for her needs with dignity, value, and cheerfulness. Moving from her home of 40 years was a difficult transition for her, after the loss of her husband, but her caregivers, life enrichment directors, and med-techs always encourage her to stay engaged and active. Mom truly feels loved in their care. She has learned new hobbies and made friends. Mom loves the meals and the culinary team too 🙂 The staff have been exceptional during the covid crisis, and we are grateful for their diligence and believe that they have protected both our Mom and our family's trust in their services.
January 2021
Waltonwood Providence makes me feel so comfortable being able to take care of both my Mom and my Dad since I am two states away. I know that their care level is top notch and they always inform me when something arises or if changes in care need to be made. My parents are in both Assisted Living and in Memory Care, so they make it easy for both to spend time with each other as they see fit. Highly recommend this facility for your loved ones when they get to a point where they need more care than you can provide.
January 2021
I'd start by saying COVID19 has been tough on everyone .... especially the elderly. I cannot say enough nice things about everyone on the Assisted living side that helps with my mother. Jen / Savannah / Bethany / Sandy / Dana the list goes on ... Without you there caring for her, I would be lost. ALL OF THE CAREGIVERS ARE VERY SPECIAL PEOPLE - - they are genuinely the Hero's in this very difficult time.
January 2021
Our (Leo and Chickie) experience at Waltonwood Providence this year has been very positive. The staff and caregivers in general have been so so nice. There are some who stand out like the Life Enrichment Team, headed by Ashley Jensen along with Sam & Bethany , have been so caring and keep us active. Donna, who we like to call the "Chief Med Tech" has been a outstanding. Our only complaint would be the food.
January 2021
My parents lived in Independent living for 2 yrs. My mother has now been living in assisted living for 2 yrs. We looked at several facilities before choosing Waltonwood. It was definitely the right choice. Both areas are first rate. My mom is 90 and is definitely living a much better life than if she had stayed in her own home. The entire staff are wonderful you can tell that they truly care for the residents. My mom loves staying busy and the life enrichment staff keeps her exercising plus involved with various activities. The chef is excellent I’ve eaten there many times.Since the pandemic started they have taken extra steps to keep everyone healthy. I’m happy to say not 1 resident has become infected after 10 months.

My mother (97 years old) moved to Charlotte 2 years ago. We looked at many Assisted Living facilities, everything about Waltonwood Providence, first impressions far exceeded all other facilities. We are very pleased with all aspects. The director (Jeff) is very friendly, very available/attentive and always keeps the extended families informed via email and conference calls. The entire staff is very friendly, available to assist whenever I've asked. I can't name everybody but my main contacts include Amanda, Dana, Ashley and Nancy and all are fantastic. This past year has been very difficult for everybody and following the guidelines they have done everything possible to allow visitations (Window, Outside, Conference Room, Facetime, etc)..... and they have continued to stay relatively safe of COVID issues

My mother lives in Memory Care, and we are so glad that we found Waltonwood Providence in 2016. Excellent staff and caregivers!

Once I made the decision to move to Charlotte my family and I set out to visit Senior Living communities. Our first stop was Waltonwood Providence. After a tour during which we were shown an apartment that was perfect for my needs we decided that there was no need to look any further! Waltonwood provides a beautiful environment in which to live. The Management Team is friendly as well as helpful. There’s an abundance of activities, transportation to doctor’s appointments and special outings, as well as entertainment. During this pandemic, management has done everything possible to keep us safe and healthy. Their efforts are greatly appreciated. Would I recommend Waltonwood Providence? Absolutely!
August 2020
I am a new Independent Living resident at Waltonwood Providence. I'm holding on to one star until I become more acquainted with programs, activities and life outside of a Pandemic. I was welcomed graciously by very friendly management and staff. The cheerfulness and offers to help are still coming my way after 7 weeks. They have followed the guidelines of WHO and CDC as well as state and local authorities, and it has paid off. No residents are sick after all these months Special little treats and activities within the guidelines have encouraged tired and lonely residents. In addition, the buildings are beautiful and well kept. I am so glad I made the decision to move here.

I don't really want to get in to it, but a member of my family is here. There seems to be a management problem. The staff is just fine. I think the management over the place is not very good, it is not responsive to the needs of residents until you actually have to yell at the management.
