My father had advanced PSP and Alzheimer’s. His hospice nurse recommended bed rails due to fall risk. The facility refused to allow them. Shortly after, my father suffered a fall that contributed to his passing. Separately, I filed complaints with the New York State Department of Health regarding care issues. The investigation substantiated my complaint and resulted in findings related to quality of care, including issues with responsiveness, timeliness of assistance, and overall resident care. After his death, the facility pursued $8,000 in prorated rent for his final month. I understand the progression of my father’s condition, but refusing a basic safety measure recommended by hospice, combined with state-validated care deficiencies and aggressive billing after his death, is unacceptable. Families should be aware of how situations like this are handled.

What is going on with the negative comments about the Memory Care in Garden City! My husband has been there for 1 1/2 years in Memory Care and I couldn't be any happier! He is being well cared for and they have plenty of stimulation and activities for the residents. And I know this for a fact since I am there everyday and at different times of the day. No one is neglected. They treat the residences with kindness and respect. The facility is very clean and well cared for. We love the Director of Reflections, Amanda! She cares for every resident there and gives each of them her personal attention! I must admit that in the beginning of we had to iron out a few things but management was very receptive and took action to correct them. You have to communicate with staff/management with any issues arising in order to rectify the problem. I am very impressed and very happy to have my husband at the Bristal in Garden City!

I have recently visited the Bristal to see my friends grandmother. It was way above what I was expecting. My friends grandmother is so happy there. I was thrilled to see that. My friend and her family tells me they love it there for the grandmother. Upon entering the staff was very pleasant and helpful. So I can see my friends grandmother is around wonderful people. If I had to recommend this place to one of my family members I definitely would.

Our Aunt is in the memory care unit at Garden City. We are extremely happy about the attention she receives from the entire staff. Communication has been very good since she arrived in May. They ask detailed questions about the individual to try and make them comfortable. Memory needs are a challenging group and the staff do an excellent job directing this group. I can see how kind they treat everyone. Also, passing through to the Assisted Living side, I had the pleasure of attending a concert one afternoon. The staff were cheerful and helped to make the event a success for all. I can see that outside events are planned, if the residents want to attend. The food prepared looks delicious. If I have any concerns, Wellness has been quick to provide assistance. We are very happy with our choice to use the Bristal Garden City.

I have been with this amazing company for over 5 years now and I still come to work with the biggest smile on my face. Our residents and their families have become family to me and coming to work seriously feels like coming home. I work alongside a wonderful team that puts the needs of our residents and staff first. We laugh, joke, and support our residents in the most highest regard. Before my time here I worked and traveled to many assisted livings in multiple states and I am happy to say that I've never seen a company like this before. Behind the scenes I appreciate seeing how compassionate and loving our team is. They truly have heart! Being in the industry for over 15 years, working at several competitors, and after seeing 70+ communities nationally I could honestly say not one of them compares to the quality of life we provide here. Residents and families enjoy their time here. I would certainly recommend our community to anyone wanting to add more value to their lives! More importantly, though, is the exceptional staff in the Reflections Section where my husband is. They are very caring and helpful.
