Update: The food has improved. Finally! Thank you, Silver Glen. I mean it was a low bar, but thanks for improving! Update: I didnt think it possible, but the food has actually gotten worse. I could'nt identify the food on my parent's plate. A deep fried hockey puck. A mashed substance that looked like mash potatoes, but tasted like gummy plastic. Broccoli looked like Broccoli, but I didnt taste that. The cake tasted like aspertame powder. *** Kind workers, but very understaffed. Memory care food is far inferior, to the assisted living section which should be a crime. I rarely see anything with nutritional value on the plates, no salads or fruit. Just the same refried "coconut shrimp, grilled cheese or hockey puck meatballs and chicken fingers. Please, feed those in memory care some nutrition, please! Almost everyone leaves their food barely touched and become frail. These people are giving you their life savings and need good nutrition as elders. Very compassionate workers, but I'm sure residents would trade in the beautiful decor for meals they could look forward to. Corporate needs to tend to this. Would be so appreciated by residents!

My parents live there from January 2021 until December 2023. The food was terrible and the accounting was just the same. I have been trying to get a refund for 3 months and there has been no success. The programing went down hill fast. It seems as if they couldn't keep a program direct for more than 6 months. The administration turn over was quite high. At least 3 director over a 3 year period. I hope at some point they can get their act together to make it the 5 star facility it claims to be. For the amount of money the residents pay it should be.

The problems at Silver Glen Senior apartments have forced us to start looking for alternatives. Cons: 1. High rent: My mother moved into Silver Glen in March and they have already increased her rent $215. 2. Short staffed: transportation is supposed to be one of the perks of living here, but the reality is much different. They don't have enough drivers to give rides to all the residents who request it. 3. Food service. The residents end up waiting sometimes 45 minutes to get their food because there are not enough servers and cooks. 4. One maintenance person (Dan) for the entire complex. Dan is very friendly and hardworking, but he needs help to keep up with all the service tickets and getting something fixed takes a long time. Pros: 1. Housekeeping staff are excellent! 2. Food service staff are friendly. 3.Beautiful grounds and indoor sitting areas.

Can't say enough about the staff at Silver Glen. They are attentive and caring. I have recommended many people who want extraordinary care for their loved ones. My Mom was treated with kindness and respect. Any issues were immediately addressed.

Silver Glen Living in Elgin is a very nice facility and staff are friendly. However, some of the promised services are not available. There is limited transportation. We were led to believe there would be transportation to doctor appointments. However, there is only limited transportation on Tuesdays and Thursdays and it's often full. The food is satisfactory but isn't very tasty and there are limited selections for those on a restricted diet. I know there are staff challenges but we hope they can improve transportation support and the meals in the near future.

Beautiful brand new senior living complex. My in-laws live here and I'm glad they picked here to live. I would live here myself!

Ginger did an exceptional job of welcoming us to the facility and the staff. We were so impressed with everything that we reserved my Mom apartment # 1701. We're looking forward to the opening of the assisted care wing and our move in date.
