Our parents transitioned to Silverado Memory Care late last year. After nearly three years in three separate residential situations and pretty horrible conditions, we nine adult kids were both relieved and gratified that they were finally in a caring and supportive environment that they had deserved all along. We were first attracted by the facility itself which is, even on a dark day, full of light, clean, and welcoming. There is a beautifully landscaped open courtyard and a variety of gathering spaces for residents and their families. The food is fresh and appealing; the bedrooms are roomy. But the real attraction is the staff. Silverado has what might be described as a deliberate "code of conduct" for its residents and staff. This means every resident is treated with gentle kindness and respect, even during challenging times. The staff seem to know everyone by name, their distinctive personalities and life experiences. They are constantly working to get everyone out of their rooms and engaged in an amazing panoply of experiences, which might include hearing the news of the day, listening to a live local band, arranging flowers, making fresh fruit skewers, engaging in light exercises and stretching, getting to know the resident cats and dogs, going to a sock hop, and celebrating holidays and special occasions. The residents are having fun, still enjoying life. The staff believes, like we do, that being an older person with memory problems doesn't mean that they shouldn't have a high quality of life or be diminished as human beings. Our parents have blossomed in this environment. When our mom was nearing the end of her life, they were solicitous towards her, making sure she was comfortable and felt loved, because she was. They supported us, her family, every step of the way, a rare positive gift during a difficult experience. Our dad is still going strong and thriving in the care of his own family and the one at Silverado. We are eternally grateful that both of our parents found their spot at last.

My grandpa has received the best care I could imagine! His health and overall wellbeing have improved significantly, he has truly come out of his shell and become more like the grandpa I knew before dementia. The care he receives has slowed his signs of decline and our entire family has been welcomed with so much care and respect, we all feel like we've been welcomed into a new family!

Loved ones are taken care of so well. Attended to..loved...talked with. The whole community works together to support the residents. Family and visitors are welcomed with smiles and hellos. I call this my Happiest place on earth.

My colleague and I went to Silverado for a Virtual Dementia Training. It was a profound experience, as we were able to step into the shoes of someone with dementia. I've worked at Silverado for a little over a year now in multiple departments, and am currently the Administrative Assistant. In this position I get to see everyone who comes in and interact with all the residents. For what Silverado stands for this is THE BEST retirement community I have ever been in, seen and gotten the chance to work here.

I recently interviewed at Silverado memory Care for a nursing job. I was blown away at how amazing the place was. The care given to patients and the facility was above and beyond any place I've ever walked into. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. This is the type of place you would want your loved one in if needed and on the other hand, the type of place you dream of being able to work at.

My dad has been at Silverado since November 2016. Transitioning your loved one from home to a care community is never easy emotionally but Silverado's Mission is truly lived out through their staff, and a blessing. The caregivers are attentive, friendly, and compassionate. I am always leave visiting dad knowing that he is treated with respect and dignity. I observe this interaction with other Silverado community members as well. The food!!!! Oh my goodness! The food is amazing- from flavor, presentation and variety. Every meal is "fancy"- including stemmed water glasses, cloth napkins and a floral centerpiece. The administrative staff amazes me in how they balance their time between responsibilities and engaging with the residents within the community. It is encouraging to see the Family Ambassador assisting residents in the dining hall, or the Sr. Administrator enjoying "Happy Hour" with the residents. My family has had experience with other Care Communities and I never imagined it could be this good based off of those experiences. Silverado is truly about living a purposeful, full life regardless of ones cognitive or physical ability.

My dad lived at the old Silverado community in 2012 before its management changed hands to Frontier through an unfortunate turn of events. This review is thus based on my past experience with Silverado as the new facility has not yet opened. The superb and loving care and service we experienced from Laura Printy and her team was amazing enough that we were in the process of moving him to the new facility due to open this fall. The same leadership team from 2012 has been reassembled, and the design of the new facility is a far cry above anything else I have yet seen in Bellingham. Unfortunately my dad passed away before they opened. Based on the comparison research we did in making this decision and our experience the Silverado's closest competitor, you'd be foolish not to chose Silverado for the cost/benefit they offer your loved one.
