My husband is in memory care at the Kensington in Reston, Virginia. He is getting excellent care. I am particularly impressed with the staff. They seem to know each person's individual strengths, and cater to those. An added bonus is the place itself: it is beautifully appointed, and very comfortable for the residents.

My father has been a resident of The Kensington- Reston since December of last year. My family and I are so very thankful for the excellent care he is receiving. He is a very low key sweet man that deserves the best care in his later years. He is very happy living at the Kensington- Reston.

Yes, Kensington is beautiful and the benefits match. But anybody can stage a property and take nice photos. Yes, they say they will care for your family as they do their own. But anybody can pump out great phrases that give you hope. Pretty photos and pretty words don't tell the story. My 90 year old father had spent a week in the hospital and experienced significant cognitive changes. In an effort to get him a safe discharge, I wanted to take the opportunity to get him into respite care with the hopes of transitioning him fully to a residence that could give him the support he needed. He happened to visit Kensington (one of several visits to different facilities) the day before his hospitalization so we began a 60 day respite stay. From day one, the staff at Kensington treated him with such grace and empathy and were supportive and available to me. My father can be a really difficult person, but age and medical conditions exacerbated the difficulties and made him combative, exit seeking, and inappropriate at times.. Kensington medical staff worked to get the right combination of medications to try to ease the symptoms of his dementia and anxiety while keeping me well informed of his medical, mental, and emotional state. No changes were ever made without notifying me, they were fantastic with communication. Despite the temporary status, he wasn't treated as a 'hotel' guest and I truly felt that they cared about his well-being. He had another hospitalization due to a seizure and transferred to a rehab facility but staff at Kensington checked in with me regularly. More impressive though, is when I would come to the property a few times to grab some of his things... Even the nursing staff asked how he was doing with such genuine kindness and asked me to tell him that they hope to see him soon. That meant a lot. I'm so appreciative of their help throughout this really complicated period, I don't think this review does much justice to just how much they did. Monica, Jackie, Shavonne, Amy, Anne, Heather, and Buh... it has been a real pleasure.

The facility is absolutely beautiful. We do have a couple of residents that use us for private duty as I am with Cardinal home care. However, some of the staff can be a little bit snooty and unwelcoming

We moved my father here from another home in Chantilly, it was the best move we could've ever made. This facility is clean. The food is outstanding and the care my father receives a second to none. I highly recommend the Kensington.

My mom has lived at Kensington in Reston for three years. She began in assisted living, and is now in memory care. The staff are amazing. They treat the residents with respect, care, and concern. Every staff member I've asked questions of or assistance from I've received enthusiasm, professionalism, and tremendous empathy. I visit everyday and witness how all the residents are treated with love, concern, compassion, and kindness. My mom can no longer bathe herself, walk, toilet herself, or sometimes even feed herself, yet she is always clean, well groomed, well fed, and happy. Everyday there are new and exciting things for the residents to join in with - games, singing, talks, outings, crafts, and true comradery. They are a real family. The facility is always immaculate. I'm a clean freak, and everyday I'm pleased to see how clean and tidy the entire facility is. The Kensington is a gem among senior care facilities. My mom has told me she feels lucky to be in such a nice place, and I feel that way too. I want to add the food is the best! It exceeds many five star restaurants. Their chef is amazing and prides herself in making the freshest, most delicious food possible. No expense is spared when it comes to dining. Delicious!

The staff is extremely caring and very responsive. I often receive emails or a phone call with updates and when I reach out I always get a prompt response. Every member of the team from the kitchen staff, to the caregivers, nurses and activity people know my mom well and are always friendly and engaging with her. The facility itself is beautiful and extremely clean. I am also impressed by the number of staff working each day even on a holiday.

My parents moved to the Kensington in Reston and it has been a wonderful experience. The quality of care is excellent, the staff is highly professional, and the communication with family members is exceptional. The cherry on top is a stunningly beautiful and welcoming physical environment that feels like home. Each time I visit, it feels alive and vibrant with residents around and about, and staff interacting with them in caring and compassionate ways. It is truly a special place.

Finding the right assisted living facility for my parents was a daunting task, but I'm so glad I went with the recommendation from a very knowledgeable geriatric professional to choose The Kensington Reston! The Kensington Reston has been a wonderful transition for my parents from independent living to assisted living. They worked with us to make the move as smooth as possible, answering our questions and being faithful to find out the answers if they didn't know right away. The communication with the family each step of the way, and even once my parents were settled in has been a breath of fresh air. They alert us to changes in medication, and let us know about the little things, such as sending us a quick photo of them enjoying a group activity. It is their attention to little details that demonstrate the care and kindness with which they treat their residents. The very first morning they made sure that my mom had her favorite flavored coffee. Important? Not in the grand scheme of things, but it was that little detail that touched our hearts. The Kensington staff cares. They treat my parents with dignity. I feel good knowing my parents are safe, cared for, and happy.
