I’ve had such a positive experience with this senior living community and truly can’t say enough good things about the team. From the moment we first walked in, the staff made us feel welcomed, respected, and supported. They took the time to answer every question and made what could have been a stressful transition feel smooth and reassuring. The community itself is beautiful, clean, and thoughtfully designed, but what really stands out is the people. The staff are attentive, kind, and genuinely care about the residents. Oakmont is the most wonderful place. We researched high a low for a place to bring our Mom to. As you can imagine, this task requires much thinking and processing as you are leaving your loved one in the care of someone else. Nicole and Lauri were our first points of contact and they were warm, knowledgeable and were willing to go above and beyond their roles as the Marketing team. When I visit my Mom in Memory Care she is happy, engaged in activities and well taken care of. Our family is so thankful to have a place like Oakmont.

Oakmont is a beautiful and caring place. A family member has lived there for almost a year now. It has been the best experience. His apartment is lovely. He enjoys the food as well as the great activities, entertainment and field trips. The staff is warm and friendly. They are also very communicative and welcoming to me. He is very well cared for and has many new friends. I would thoroughly recommend Oakmont to anyone considering assisted living. He’s never been happier!

Computer museum, Stanford theater, the performing arts center in San Mateo. Movies in the theater every night. Activities all day long. Exercise class daily A friendly place.

My siblings and I moved our mom into Oakmont Redwood City last December and we couldn’t be happier with the care and service she has received. The staff are incredibly compassionate and truly seem to care about the well-being of the residents. She enjoys the wide variety of activities available, like bingo, movie nights, and exercise classes. Oakmont is bright and clean and beautifully decorated with stunning furniture and artwork throughout. It has an outdoor terrace on the third floor with areas to sit to enjoy a warm, sunny day. It has feel of a small, boutique hotel! They offer a variety of delicious, nutritious meals in a beautiful dining room setting. The servers are very friendly and take the time to get to know the residents and their food preferences. We are always welcomed and greeted warmly when dining with our mom. Even though most days she eats at a particular time with a group of friends, the dining room is open all day and into the evening so, if necessary, she can get food even outside of regular mealtimes. In addition to the dining room, there is a bistro with sandwiches, snacks and beverages available throughout the day. The private dining room is available to reserve free of charge for parties of up to 8-10. Our family had Christmas Eve dinner there and enjoyed the delicious food and attentive service. We’ve been impressed with the responsiveness of the care team. They are prompt in responding to any need she has and have really taken the time to get to know her and the things that bring her joy. During her transition, they were particularly accommodating with little things like helping her with her TV and remote control and reminding and escorting her to activities. The maintenance requests are taken care of promptly and the housekeeping staff are delightful. While no living community is perfect, we have been impressed by the responsiveness and communication of the management when addressing our questions or concerns. Someone is always willing to help solve a problem and/or come up with a workable solution. We feel very supported during this ever-changing time of our mom's life. Overall, I highly recommend Oakmont to anyone looking for a warm and caring assisted living facility. It’s been a wonderful experience, and our mom is thriving there.

My advice would be to look somewhere other than Oakmont. The facility itself is new and beautiful and there a few good, caring people who work here. But I’m guessing you’re looking for a senior care facility because you or your loved one can’t live alone and needs a certain level of skilled care. Right? Oakmont’s substandard level of care is exactly why this place falls short of the mark. They hire unskilled workers with no experience working with the elderly and then don’t properly train them with how to do wheelchair transfers, or how to spot the symptoms of a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection), or how to report a fall, or how to properly dress a wound. Once these workers learn to do their job, they realize they can get paid more elsewhere and leave Oakmont. Look Oakmont up on indeed.com and read the worker’s reviews. The Oakmont management from the Head Nurse up to the Executive Director are no better. They are unresponsive and unconcerned. They straight up DO NOT CARE. They are a cog in the wheel of a corporate entity and their only purpose is to make a buck. During my mother’s 3 year stay, she suffered multiple UTIs, yet Oakmont was NEVER able to obtain a urine sample and get it to the lab. As a result of the untreated UTI (which causes disorientation), mom had an unreported fall wherein she fractured her pelvis, an unreported change in her status (total incontinence), and went from being a mostly independent assisted living person to being confined to a wheelchair. I’d recommend looking at the San Carlos Elms for both assisted living and memory care. They are privately owned and non-corporate. Their Executive Director and the nurse have been on the job for 3+ decades and their staff is skilled and well compensated. And Palm Villas has been exceptional for memory care. Garry is the owner and is an extremely caring person. Their staff is really on top of things. It’s nice to know there are local facilities that do have caring staff that are trained in dealing with the elderly, but Oakmont is not that place.

The staff are not only professional but also genuinely compassionate, ensuring that my mother feels valued and well cared for. We have had our parents here for over a year now. It was a hard transition moving them from their life of independence to assisted living. Nicole C has been with us every step of the way from our first visit to move in days to the present. She has been a huge support to our family and parents. And many other staff also have shown consistent professionalism, kindness and compassion. Letty, Ferdi, Gio , Anna and others. Management to general staff are always helpful and responsive. Oakmont has tons of activities keeping our parents busy and engaged. They also take them on a variety of weekly outings to parks, museums and lunches. They have access to a beautiful garden area and they bring in music and entertainment for the residents. Our parents compliment the food and service provided by staff. We like how staff interacts with the residents and each other. Thank you Oakmont!

When our family first visited Sunrise of Redwood City as a potential home for a close family member who had suffered a stroke, we were immediately struck by the professionalism, committed engagement, and genuine warmth of the senior management. Choosing this Sunrise location became an easy decision for us. Almost one year later we couldn't be more impressed with the quality of the facilities, and the genuine caring that the entire staff there - from top to bottom - exhibits day in and day out. The whole team, starting with the Executive Director herself, is actively engaged with the residents on a regular basis. Above all, our family member who lives there now considers it her home, and has already made numerous friends with other residents. As she herself puts it in the most positive way, "They can't do enough for me!" Indeed, the team there works tirelessly - and lovingly - to support her in every way possible, including personal care, assistance with medical care, transport to medical appointments, and frequent as well as responsive interaction with us as family members. Both the staff and the residents experience their environment as a true community, and succeed in their efforts to make the residents' family members feel like they are part of that community through holiday get togethers, frequent communication, and a feeling of being welcome. Anyone considering Sunrise of Redwood City for a loved one who needs care can be confident that they would be making a very good choice indeed.

This part of life can be very challenging, for the individual as well as family and friends. We had a year or so of experience behind us when we started looking to move to this area, and researched thoroughly trying to find the best fit because we knew that details could really help with this transition. They led us to choose Sunrise of Redwood City. The building is brand new, immaculately clean, spacious, well lit, and nicely appointed, including convenient parking and outdoor areas to enjoy. They offer a lot of engaging activities, and a progression of services including memory care. We've been with them for about a year now, and they've more than met our expectations. The staff has been friendly, supportive, professional and encouraging throughout. The community "vibe" is pleasant, relaxed and comforting. For us, these details have made a big difference.
