Reviews Legacy Village of Salt River
October 2025
This is a beautiful facility, with friendly staff. A family member moved into the memory care unit in June 2025. There were issues from the beginning with the facility not following the Care Plan, from hydration to hygiene and toileting assistance. The family had to continuously follow up on the care received. We soon found out that the facility was not equipped to handle severe cases of sundowning and dementia. The family was repeatedly called to deal with their family member when they showed signs of aggression or frustration due to sundowning. The facility had difficulty adjusting medications to offset these sundowning episodes. This family member was hospitalized 3 times within one month for dehydration and UTI's. After falling in the bathroom, they went 1 1/2 weeks with an undiagnosed hip fracture, despite the patient crying out in severe pain. Ultimately the family had to call in hospice to deal with the pain, and our loved one died within 2 months of moving in. Until the initial dehydration and UTI diagnosis, the family member was happy at Legacy. Unfortunately, it was soon determined that they just could not provide the care needed when the sundowning occurred. If you think that you will eventually need care similar to a skilled nursing facility, look elsewhere.

The community seemed nice enough. It was just too isolated for what we were looking for.

I am sharing a 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment with my Sister and her dog. We moved in on August 2nd, 2024. So far I am pleased with the residents that I've met. They are very friendly and accepting of others. They are trying to get us into the various activities available (cards, talks, exhibitions, etc.). As soon as I'm settked in, I'll start getting involved. I'm also pleased with the staff, they are most helpful. The front desk attendants have helped with everything from answering questions, to helping us set the thermostat in the apartment, to coordinating my travel activities with the Van driver. The transportation guy's Anthony and Jon have been most accomodating. Getting me to appointments and picking me up as needed with great attitudes. Kenna Richards the Sales Manager has helped coordinate our move, answer any and all questions including showing me where different rooms are (exercise, 2nd dining room). The dining staff are gems. They are sometimes overwhelmed with a crush of people, but ultimately get our orders taken and delivered. The food in both dining rooms tastes great. If one doesn't care for the daily specials (breakfast, lunch, dinner), there are alternate menu's from which to order. I have enjoyed almost everything put in front of me. From what I've experienced in the past week, I would highly recommend Legacy Village at Salt River.

This was the final visit made of many, but it was the best. Legacy Salt River is beautiful, friendly, well appointed with everything, within reason, that you could want or desire. Even my pup is welcome. It was so nice that I am moving into my new home the end of July! Thank you all for a wonderful tour, lunch and the luck that opened up a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment for us! The actual move in was great.... Sheryl (Sammy) Weitz

Move in was seamless, everyone was very helpful in directing us as we moved items in and got settled. At the end of our day, we had a visit from three young ladies to welcome us and to see how everything was and if they could help in anyway I thought that was fantastic. We couldn't be more happy with the accommodations and the community.

This should be a serious contender for anybody looking for assisted living. Bridget in assisted living is amazing, Jill as a social director is the best there is in the industry. Great teams create a wonderful culture...

I wanted to write a review to express how exciting it is to recognize a newly formed leadership team at Legacy Village of Salt River. The team has brought depth of experience, positivity and enthusiasm to Legacy Village. What a fantastic community this is. There are some of the most outstanding residents that live there and it is a beautiful building in a wonderful location. Don't skip the opportunity to check this place out and meet the new team when you are in the Scottsdale area!

My mom has lived here since they opened. The staff has been wonderful and importantly they have a lot of activities that my mom enjoys. They have great balcony's that overlook the mountains that she loves.

New and modern design. Like most in today's economy they can sometimes find it hard to recruit and retain support staff. Meals are decent though they more than occasionally run out of some menu items. The staff that is there is friendly and attentive to residents needs.

Legacy Village at Salt River has been our mom's home for independent senior living for over 2 years now. She has made so many good friends, and her social life is keeping her brain and body healthy. Our mom's room is bright and airy with a wonderful cleaning staff. From the start, we have trusted Lisa Bulka who is always there to answer questions, get advice, solve problems.....we just adore her. We highly recommend Legacy Village for anyone looking to move into a senior living community.

I'm a Lab Representative who simply calls on this facility. That being said, I can tell you that it is a beautiful, clean, well staffed, with a friendly environment. Definitely one of the nicest Assisted Living residences I've visited.

Last week I had the opportunity to tour Legacy Village of Salt River and was very impressed! The building feels brand new. It is inviting, light, and spacious. The associates are committed to the residence, their well being, activities, experiences, and care. The residence are active, engaged, kind and friendly. And spoke very highly of their experiences. It was a pleasure to meet, visit with and learn from the outstanding people at Legacy Village of Salt River!
September 2022
This place is a new and clean facility but due to the terrible management and horrible food services, I would not recommend moving a loved one into this facility until they actually make some real changes. I completely agree with Tracy K's review as our experience has been exactly the same. I have held off writing a review for months with the hopes that things would improve but sadly they haven't and I feel I need to let others know so they are not in the same spot we are in. I know many residents have moved out and more are considering it. The main reason that a lot of older people need to move into a place like Legacy Village is the simple fact that they aren't able to shop/cook for themselves or prefer not to. It's also something the residents should be able to look forward to each day. The chefs/dining service/food services have been UNBELIEVABLY bad and the fact that this continues is unacceptable. For the price they are charging the residents, it is truly insulting. I truly hope that Legacy Village of Salt River gets their act together and fixes their management and food service issues. The property has a lot of potential and I cannot believe they are letting these solvable issues ruin what should be a much better experience for people. It has created a very negative environment. On the positive side, the facilities/housekeeping teams have been wonderful and the rooms are very nice and bright. If I see a change, I will make sure to update my review. Until then, I would keep shopping for another facility that would show more care and respect for their residents basic needs.

New management team and associates over the past few months are really making great things happen at this community! Truly a warm feeling to see so many smiling resident faces throughout the building.

I was surprised when I saw the below comment of anything but great things. My loved one has been at Legacy for a little over a month now and I have found the staff to be courteous and polite, the management team to be responsive in a very prompt manner. I have always enjoyed meals with my parents, so once we lost my dad I have always tried to make it a point to have at least one meal a week with my mom. I have continued this since she has been at Legacy, and I have found the dining experience and food to be lovely. I cant speak to before mom came to Legacy, but I can say its been nothing short of wonderful since we've been here. Thank you to the legacy staff and managers for taking great care of my mom, it wasn't the easiest decision for me to move her to senior living, as naturally I had guilt about not keeping her at home with me! You made this a positive and comforting thing for the both of us!

Our experience at the Legacy has been absolutely delightful. The entire staff has been amazing in all they do, from care, love, compassion and excellence. The quality of care far surpasses any of my expectations down to the minutest details. From top down, it is run to the utmost level of excellence giving dignity, honor and compassion to their residents. I can not say enough about this place. Rita Marranca

From the moment you walk into Legacy Village, it feels different. It is clean, smells fresh, has plenty of natural light and has high ceilings as well as a very peaceful and calm feeling and energy. The staff is outgoing and caring and you can tell they enjoy what they do. Michelle and Lisa, who have been there since they broke ground are absolutely fantastic. The value, location and staff, as well as the opportunity to live in a very beautiful environment makes me feel happy and excited for my parents to begin their next chapter as they have been married almost 60 years. The facility is brand new and built on the Salt River Pima Reservation and is aesthetically very pleasing to the eye.
