August 27, 2026 An open letter to the Staff of Covenant Place . . . . . . Jason Dexter spent the last eighteen months of his life at Covenant Place. His choice, of course, would have been to remain at home but circumstances out of his control made that impossible. Though he initially thought he would be able to return home, he never once told us he wanted to leave Covenant Place. His acceptance of his situation was a direct result of the care he received from the staff and administration at Covenant. The quality of care was phenomenal. He enjoyed three meals a day, regular baths, meds administered regularly, hours of porch sitting, and opportunities for interaction with other residents and staff. Because of his difficulty hearing, he chose not to participate in most of the activities provided but many of you went out of your way to involve him. He enjoyed the visits from the children on many occasions and the Easter Bunny brought a big smile to him. We appreciated that staff sensed what he would enjoy and came and got him to be a part of events like the Mardi Gras Parade. Those of you who worked directly with Jason are to be commended. You handled Jason with love, understanding and patience. On some occasions you could have easily reacted negatively to his harsh words but you were able to look past them and always treated Jason with respect and tried to understand him. We observed that you were always willing to do whatever needed to be done and were willing to adapt schedules and traditional methods of care to meet his specific needs. Not once did we ever hear anyone say that something was not their job. We appreciate how you always made us feel welcome no matter when or how often we came. During his stay at Covenant, we celebrated Thanksgiving, Christmas and two birthdays. We loved having access to the private dining room for these special events and though we certainly didn’t expect it, each one of you seemed to go out of your way to make sure we had everything we needed. The environment/atmosphere at Covenant Place is warm, inviting and very homelike. We never encountered a “nursing home smell or feeling.” It has always been extremely clean and comfortable. Whether inside or out, we always felt welcome and “at home.” We know this is not by accident – it takes hard work and excellent leadership to create this kind of ambiance. As the end of Jason’s journey approached many of you seemed to sense it and made it a point to check on him and reassure and comfort us. When he did take his last breath, everything was handled efficiently and professionally – but with the care that you would have shown to one of your own family members. We were moved to tears when several of you wanted to say your goodbyes to him that night before he was taken away. We were also comforted by your attendance at Jason’s funeral. It has been our pleasure to work with you and get to know many of you personally. “Breaking Bread Together” is the best way we know how to say THANK YOU for taking such good care of our uncle, Jason Dexter, and of us. My mom was a resident here for only two months before her passing, but I can confidently say this was the best place she had ever been. Every single employee was kind, compassionate, and helpful. The facility was always clean and smelled fresh. My mom never once complained about the food”in fact, I had the chance to enjoy it myself a couple of times, and it was great! The staff did a wonderful job keeping her engaged with a variety of activities, and she often spoke very highly of the other residents. It truly felt like she was part of a loving, extended family. If you're looking for a caring and supportive environment for your loved one, this is the place.

I moved my 92 year old uncle from his home of 60 years to Covenant Place last year. They took incredible care of him the year he was in their care. They provided his meals, cleaning, laundry, continence care, medications, etc. They even helped get him to his appointments when I was unable to leave work. So much of the caregiver burden was eased for me while he was in their care. The staff really goes above and beyond with care and compassion. The communication was always top notch as well. Not once did I ever feel left out of the loop. Their activities director, Jillian, is an absolute gem! I largely credit his happiness there to her and her efforts to encourage and include him. I cannot say enough positive things about our overall experience!

My mother in law was a resident at covenant place for 14 months. The staff here was amazing. They were caring and compassionate. They were always very responsive to questions and concerns. There were several occasions they went above and beyond for my mother in law in her care. I would absolutely recommend Covenant Place to anyone looking for assisted living for their loved one.

I just love Covenant Place. The attitude and excitement of the employees motivates the residents to participate in the activities they have planned, which are numerous and varied. From hymn singing, to a Halloween carnival, to a fifties dance, to a Mardi Gras party, from playing games to doing crafts and even baking, to earning tokens for cash by snacking and drinking water. My mother in law enjoyed making a lot of new friends and was taken care of so well. Covenant Place provides an environment to stay active and healthy as a senior who needs some assistance during our aging years.

Covenant Place was an answer to prayer for our family. They loved my mom like we did. Always eager to meet expectations. My mom was on hospice they would text me at night to say she was in bed, she died in the wee hours of the morning I left with breakfast and a cup of tea. The staff took care of her and us. I will be eternally grateful for the love and care they offered.

Paul and his staff were some of the most genuine, patient and understanding people I've encountered in a long time. They are very caring and willing to provide guidance through some very difficult decisions when it comes to finding the right place for your parents.
