I spent about two weeks at Alden Estates of Evanston for rehab after a long hospital stay. The therapy was excellent, the food was good, and the doctors and nursing staff were outstanding. I highly recommend it for anyone in need of quality rehabilitation care.

I cannot recommend Alden Estates of Evanston highly enough. Under the leadership of Executive Director, Matt Czajka, this rehabilitation facility truly stands out for its exceptional care and results-oriented approach. My 96 year old Grandma, Despina is currently at Alden Evanston and it has been a miracle she gets to go back home on Saturday. The staff are all so pleasant, remembering myself and my family when we visit. My Grandma is very picky, but loves the food there and got used to the food quickly. My grandma has never played bingo in her life, the staff were able to convince her to come try, taught her how to play, and she won! This is now a story she tells everyone and how proud she was and loves bingo now. She especially loves her therapy staff and wants to take them all home with her. Thank you Alden Evanston for taking great care of my Grandma during this hard time for her!

I had a most excellent and beneficial stay at Alden Estates of Evanston! After a hip surgery that required a lengthy recovery and rehab AND a second surgery plus recovery with more rehab, AE Evanston was the perfect place for me to become well again. From the exceptional nursing care and superb PT & OT therapists, to the uniformly kind staff in ALL departments of the facility, I felt not only "cared for", but very much "cared about". These days of nursing & care personnel shortages must be extremely difficult for all skilled-nursing facilities. There is no perfect situation. But AE Evanston's management and staff have come pretty close, in my estimation. And, it has to do with a 'Culture of Caring' evident throughout the facility. My deepest gratitude to everyone at AE Evanston who helped me along the way. I recommend it highly.

If you want to get well this is the place to go. I am an 82 year old woman who was hit by a car while crossing the street. My hip was broken, several facial bones broken and a rib fractured. The accident happened on April 14. On May 14 I was able to go home thanks to the excellent care at Alden.

I did not have a good experience. I guess it was bad timing... going to Alden for rehab during a pandemic. I was discharged from the hospital directly to Alden for rehab after a fall at home. No one told me that I would be in COVID quarantine. This was because I only had one (of two) vaccine injections. I was kept in my room the entire length of my stay. I never saw the room(s) where PT and OT took place. The only items brought to me in my room for therapy were a one pound dumbell and one resistance band. I was asked to walk the length of my room and back which I did using a walker brought to me from my home. I always did what I was asked and more, but was not allowed to leave the room. Aside from the lack of actual PT and OT, there were other issues. The mattress on the bed I selected was absolute mush. It was like sleeping on a jelly doughnut. The other bed in the room had a better mattress but it was the bed closest to the window. I selected the bed closest to the bathroom. I get headaches from bright light so it was a thoughtful choice on my part but I paid a price in other ways. There were hard chairs at the table where I had meals, but no chair to sit in to read or watch TV until I asked. Then there was the poor soul across the hall who spent most of her awake time yelling for HELP! This went on every day. They could not keep her door closed so I had to keep mine closed. This was extremely annoying, having to listen to her calling for help at all hours. Considering that not once during my time at Alden did I ever ask for assistance with any ADL, after 9 days I had had enough and asked to be discharged to my Evanston condo where I knew I could take care of myself. I would have to say that very little rehab actually took place. If I had been thinking more clearly, I would have turned away many of the people who came to visit me - a physiatrist, a psychiatrist, a speech therapist, and others who I imagine were told I had an excellent Medigap plan and decided to jump on the Medicare gravy train. My rehab experience at Alden was uniquely poor - yours might not be - but I was glad to get out of there.

After a recent fall, my octogenarian mother unexpectedly ended up at Alden rehab for an extended stay. Alden had come highly recommended and they didn't disappoint. From the moment she arrived, their communicative staff made sure all of her needs were met, keeping me in the loop every step of the way. This alleviated much anxiety, since I live out of state and wasn't able to be there in person due to quarantine restrictions. They helped navigate mom's insurance reimbursements and kept me abreast of COVID updates. Alden's social worker, Chelsea, was especially helpful, providing resources for everything from assisted living communities to medical equipment suppliers. No one wants to end up in rehab. But, if you have to select one at some point, I would highly recommend Alden.

My mother in law had an unexpected turn in her medical care , that landed her in the ICU for a week, unable to care for herself immediately after. She was then placed in Alden Estates nursing home for rehab and now after a month there-she is back, living on her own. We could not be more pleased with a great atmosphere of kindness, care and help she received there. Very grateful to the staff and management of Alden Estates. Great place! Thank You !

I took some time after the discharge of my brother, Sawly, to write this review. I honestly had to think about what I wanted to say and how it should be said. Simply because it was so many great things happening on a daily basis while my brother was a resident there at Alden Of Evanston. My brother is very difficult to deal with, and set In his stubborn ways. When he had to endure the removal of his leg he became more difficult to deal with. I was worried about how he would react or interact with the staff if we needed to place him in a rehabilitation center for his journey to recovery. I knew that coping would possibly make matters worse. So we toured Alden Of Evanston and fell in love immediately! The facility was so clean and the staff greeted us with a smiles throughout the building. It showed us that the people are happy to work there and enjoyed what they do. My brother was admitted and fell in love with the place. Everyone was so nice he had no choice but to become just as nice and easy to work with. I would call him everyday and he would always tell me how a staff member helped him do this and helped him do that. He mention a few names along the way too. He spoke highly of Tara, Suzette,Sheila, and Maria. Everyone was great but they went way beyond the call of duty to assist as much as needed. Even when it was time for discharge planning it was amazing how the Administration all came together. Josh was very attentive to ensure that my brother was discharged home with everything he need in order to be successful at living independently. My family and I would like to say Thank you for a great job at taking care of my brother. Words can not compare to the outstanding care he received there. It's people like you who make a difference! Thank you!

Alden of Evanston was amazing. It was such a difficult period in my life and Alden made it so much easier. I can't speak highly enough of the sensitive and compassionate staff and the amazing PT and OT staff. And it was a restful and lovely place to rehab! It was a pivotal and helpful time in my successful rehab!

ALDEN ESTATES OF EVANSTON PROVIDES RARE CARE: "CONCERNED CARE" There are many types of Medical Care: Emergency Care; Rehabilitative Care, Skilled Nursing Care; Assisted Living Care; In-Home Care etc. I had Rehabilitative Care at Alden Estates of Evanston for a Knee Replacement. What I found rare and unique about my stay was the level of "concern" about my rehab from the Head of the facility down to the cleaning staff. Having retired from an industry where the level of service delivery must be top of the line, I am a good judge of service quality. However, what separates Alden Estates of Evanston is the their level of "concern" for you which I am designating as "concerned care", When you are recovering from any type of medical condition or procedure, It is critical that all parties involved not only give you top of the line medical care but "concerned care". Studies have shown that this can speed up the recovery process. Being that nothing is perfect which is the case with Alden Estates of Evanston and me, they showed me "concerned care". They demonstrated this with their cheery and quick response to all of my "concerns". In many cases the responses came from top management. Alden Estates of Evanston is on the cutting edge regarding the delivery of total medical care plus "concerned care" to its residents. ROlli

My father in law was at Alden Estates of Evanston during the height of Covid, as it has been a scary time he was taken good care of & he had zero complaints. He went into the facility unable to walk & having debilitating pain, he left walking with no pain. The staff was lovely, they helped him communicate via FaceTime so we could see him everyday! He loved the food & the choices. It was a difficult decision to send him to a facility during this pandemic but Alden took great care of him, & at 82 years old he's doing great because of the great team at Alden!

My dear Dad was at the Alden Estates of Evanston for almost two years. He was 100 when he went in, and he died yesterday at 102+. He received the best of care, and he was happy there. The staff is capable, warm and concerned. There are LPN's, CNAs, and RNs, Physical therapists, cleaning staff, wait staff, and a cooking team. There are also capable and kind Social Workers (MSW's and assistants off premises), and one in the building. I ordered my father's meals off a printed menu. He ate in the dining room because he was very sociable. Dr. Rhonda Stein, his own physician, visited him regularly, along with a podiatrist. There was also a progress meeting for every resident on a regular basis, and I was invited to attend. The building is spotless, with a cheerful lobby, and sunny rooms. It's a great place!

My Mom was at Alden several times in the past. When she went in, she was unable to walk, but was walking w/out assist when she was discharged. She was treated with care & respect, the staff and therapists were awesome! She even enjoyed the food. She was in her 90's and we enjoyed visiting with her and she loved the ice cream store. I would recommend Alden to anyone.

The Alden Estates of Evanston is a beautifully maintained and effectively managed facility. My family and I recommend it for short-term rehabilitation. We were most impressed with the results of the rigorous physical therapy regimen my dad received after being hospitalized for pneumonia. We were especially grateful for the CNAs who were very kind and caring toward him Mary, Kevin, Ross, and Melanie. The housekeeper, Veronica, was also very caring and did an excellent job with cleaning my dad's room. While all of the staff with whom we interacted worked very hard and were very nice, sometimes their response time was slow due to being short-staffed. For this reason, I recommend having a family member visit daily to help take care of and advocate for their loved one.

I have to say that after having been under the wonderful care at Alden Estates of Evanston for 100 days on and off over the past eight months, I have never experienced living in a better and more comfortable environment -- to the point of actually qualifying as luxurious. Not only are the facilities at a five star level, the staff -- from the nurses to the superb management and all employees at every level and capacity -- are all far beyond what one would ever expect to come across at a rehabilitation nursing facility. The total environment is one of extreme beauty and comfort, and the food is very good . . . stupendous omelettes! It is wonderful to spend time enjoying the outdoors on the spacious beautifully appointed patios meeting other residents while enjoying a soda or a few cups of their great coffee, or maybe some ice cream from their ice cream parlor. I honestly would love to live there full time if I possibly could, but I am sure that the staff will attest and concur that I would drive them all crazy. With my utmost thanks to the phenomenal Administrator Joe Rusinak as well as to all at Alden Estates of Evanston for each and every one of my great 100 days spent under their much needed and forever appreciated care . . . I could move around a bit on my own, with assistive devices. So I was fortunate in that regard. I found the staff to be friendly enough. The therapist that worked with me was the best. She was a very caring, patient and kind woman. My stay there was pleasant and very convenient. The food was good and varied. My room was cleaned daily and my laundry was done daily. It was good. All I had to do was focus on recuperating, and therapy.
