So pleased to write this very long over due review. It is far less about the facility and more so about the leader at the top...Cheryl Ann. My last experience on a temp basis for my Mother was ok....but under Cheryl's watch.....what a remarkable difference. In business and within leadership you cannot teach care factor. We get values as we all live our lives and hopefully are given an opportunity to express values that are aligned in our careers. From the moment I met Cheryl on the phone I knew that I was on the right path here. Cheryl went far far out of her way to ensure that my family received the experience that she wants for her residents and I cannot begin to tell you how well received that was. I unfortunately have little trust from many many different poor experiences in dealing with businesses involved in Sr Care. I needed to experience what it is suppose to be like and I belive that happened...so much so, that I will likely reviewing next steps to have my Mother reside under Cheryl's watch!!!! You are a champion for Sr Care and a breath of fresh air and professionalism.....thank-you for being you!!! Pete Black

I am a full time professional entertainer and I have extensive experience in performing at many seniors lodges in and around the Edmonton area. I have performed at Rutherford Heights on many occasions over the last few years and have found my experiences with Recreation Director Harley Hempel and his wonderful team to be nothing short of exemplary! Harley is a professional in the truest sense of the word. He and his staff are wonderfully positive, kind and cheerful when interacting with me, their residents and each other. Drawing on my time spent there, I believe the Rutherford Heights residents are definitely in good hands with Harley and his staff and is evidenced by the fact that smiles are always easy to find there!

My mom has been living here for past year in memory care. It was our luck we ended up here after seeing many places; this was our first choice. Management is great and place is alway updating and renovating things as necessary. All employees care a lot about the residents and when you spend only few hours here you can immediately tell. Nurses and doctors are super attentive to my mom needs. Mom always says she feels at home and this is the most important thing for me. Everyone is so friendly and professional. I am thankful for all they support and work. Keep up a great work and THANk YOU!

The staff here are incredible kind, patient, and genuinely committed to the well-being of every resident. They greet you with a smile, take the time to listen, and always go the extra mile to make sure residents feel valued and cared for. Whether it’s helping with daily needs, sharing a friendly conversation, or encouraging participation in activities, you can tell they love what they do. The leadership team is equally impressive. They are approachable, attentive, and proactive in making sure both residents and families feel supported with the help of General Manager Cheryl Ann and Hospitality manager Karl. Communication is excellent they keep families informed, listen to feedback, and act quickly to address any concerns. It’s clear that they take pride in providing a safe, happy, and respectful environment for seniors. Dining here is another highlight the meals are delicious, well-balanced, and presented with care with excellent servers. There’s always variety, and the kitchen team does a great job accommodating preferences and dietary needs. Most importantly, I have peace of mind knowing that my loved one is not only well cared for, but truly happy here. Rutherford Heights feels like more than just a place to live it’s a community, a family, and a safe haven. I am deeply grateful to the entire team for their hard work, compassion, and dedication. I wholeheartedly recommend Rutherford Heights to anyone looking for a place where their loved one will be treated with kindness, dignity, and respect every single day.

The entire place is spotless and exceptionally well-organized, reflecting the team’s dedication to maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and order. The reception staff greets you with genuine friendliness, making visitors feel welcome and at ease right away. The atmosphere is comforting and inviting, much like stepping into a home filled with warmth and care rather than a formal facility. Everywhere you look, you can see the evidence of thoughtful management from the beautifully maintained common areas to the smooth coordination of daily activities. Most importantly, the residents themselves are a testament to the quality of care provided here. Their smiles, laughter, and the relaxed way they interact with staff speak volumes. You can see in their faces that they are happy, safe, and valued. It’s clear that this is not just a place where people live it’s a place where they thrive.

Our mother lived in Rutherford Heights Retirement Residence, in Edmonton, for a little over four years from 2021 until her passing in 2025 (from the age of 94 to 98). The Facility has positive management. The current General Manager, Cheryl Ann Grigg, is very approachable and accommodating. Under her care, the facility is being efficiently run. Rose Desmarinas, in Finance, has always been friendly and willing to answer all our financial inquiries. The Director of Care Krina Desai is friendly, knowledgeable, and always helpful with all things relative to mom’s ongoing care. The nursing staff is excellent. The LPNs are friendly, compassionate, and very knowledgeable. We have high praise for the LPNs and all care staff. They were always so good in keeping Mom’s family doctor appraised of health requirements. They were also excellent at contacting us about any issues. The Health Care aides also are all kind and caring. They are hard working, and they made every day a good day for our mom. The meals were always excellent. Christine does an excellent job of providing a full menu with two delicious entrees for lunches and dinners. There is a very nice private dining room for when families wish to eat with their loved one. Seating assignments in the dining room ensure that tablemates are compatible and can form a friendship. The housekeeping staff are very thorough and keep the place spic-and-span. It seems there is always someone cleaning something. This cleanliness is much appreciated. The recreational activities are a widely varied and offered throughout the day “ every day of the week. Daily exercise classes are held every morning, The residents are very friendly and absorbed mom into their fold. The residents look out for each other creating a family like atmosphere. Mom was legally blind, profoundly deaf and for the last six months was having decreasing mobility, but somebody was always willing to assist her when needed. This sense of community is fostered by all staff. A very homelike atmosphere. Our family is extremely grateful for the experience that our mom had during her stay at Rutherford. Overall, our family highly recommend this facility.

My dad lived here for 15 months (2022-2023). The facility has top notch management under Paul Ramirez. Under Paul's leadership, everything runs smoothly. Paul is approachable and always willing to help, from helping with yard work to maintain the grounds to finding a wheelchair for our dad to borrow for getting to a doctor's appointment. The nursing staff is also excellent. The LPNs are so knowledgeable that, as a former nurse with a bachelor's degree in nursing, I felt they were better than some RNs that I know. The health care aides also are all kind and caring. They are hard working, and they made every day a good day for my dad. Seating assignments for the dining room are given a lot of thought, to ensure that tablemates are compatible and can form a friendship. There is a shuttle bus that takes residents on weekly outings to local shopping areas. Daily exercise classes are held every morning, and recreational activities are offered throughout the day. The interior and exterior of the facility are well maintained and have the look of a elegant hotel with traditional decor. My sisters and I are super grateful for the experience that my dad had during his stay at Rutherford. If you are looking for a place for your aged parent to live, I would give this facility serious consideration.

My 98 year old mother lived here for 18 months and enjoyed every day. The care and assistance she received was excellent and the facilities and activities provided were fun and stimulating. The management and staff were very competent and supportive of both her and our family. I would highly recommend this residence for assisted living and consider it one of the best in the city.

My mother in law has a spacious suite in the Rutherford Retirement Residence in Edmonton. My wife goes to visit her Mom every few months from the US & really has peace of mind with the excellent care Irene is given there. Before Covid hit town, there was a wonderful variety of daily activities from exercise classes, live music, religious services, cards, knitting, pool table, shuffle board & always coffee + tea in the games room, which Irene enjoyed visiting with other residents in, which will resume once this is all over. The food is excellent, especially with a choice of 2 entrees for lunch & dinner. While Irene really likes her suite cleaning once a week & laundry services, she adores the caring, competent & compassionate staff that work there. From the Front Desk staff, Food services, all of the Care Givers, Activity coordinators, Nurses, Drs, Pharmacists, Maintenance, they are all 5 star in their dedication & care of these seniors. Thank you A grateful husband
