Today, 5/5/26, ARTIS had a Mothers Day Brunch for the residence and their families. My wife, Maureen, is spending her first Mother's Day away from her family. I want to commend the entire staff for the preparation that was put into this event. I'm sure it was a hectic process on top of their normal routinge duties which do not get put on the back burner because of something special. Maureen has only been a resident here since February. She had a couple hiccups the first couple of days but settled in very nicely. I believe this is due to the care and nurturing that all of the staff extends towards her and all of the other residents. I want to extend my sincere thank you and well done for everyting that went into today's brunch. The food was excellent. The desert made me smile it tasted so good. To the admin and front office crew, the dining room staff, housekeeping, attending nurses, social workers, PT's, the culinary specialists and everyone else that contriubuted to this event a sincere thank you and Bravo Zulu. My wife enjoyed herself and that was the most important thing in the world to me. Thank you. John J. Chapman

This is long overdo but wanted to shout out to all the wonderful folks at Artis HV. My dad moved in a few months ago which is an extremely emotional transition. The very first day Tara and many others welcomed my dad with such open arms it put tears in our eyes. They counceled all of us! Kerri Challenger was so helpful setting it all up. His nurses are so patient and kind. Adam does a Sinatra hour that my dad loces. Theo and my dad get along wonderful. Tara looks after all if her residents like family everyday!!! Thank you Artis for hiring such a well rounded intuitive "doll". She is the reason we can sleep at night knowing dad is so loved. Without this extra emotional support things would be very different. The people are so terrific at Artis Senior Center! We felt this was the best place for our elderly father. The Huntingdon Valley location is so easy and convenient for us to visit him. Kerrie helped us with all of the paperwork and made it an easy move in process. Once there, we met Tara who really made my father smile and feel at home. As someone that is relatively new to the Artis community due to my mother being a new resident of Artis. I have to say, I was very reluctant to place my mom in a long term care facility but since she was hospitalized for 16 days she required skilled care. I chose Artis based on a previous tour as well as personal recommendations. Already during my mother's short time frame at Artis there are many great things about this facility, but what has really has stood out has been the staff. From Kerri Challenger being my person to go to, she facilitated this move for us and made herself available to me for all questions or concerns. I called her from the hospital; , she sent a team the next day to assess my mother and took care of all the things needed for the transfer. I am there every day and have gotten first hand access to observe the genuine care and hospitality the staff offers. Staffer DAWE Tara Busby has personally taken my mother under her wing as she has helped her become acclimated and adjusted in this community. Tara has not only helped my mother with this transition but as well as myself. She also has made herself available to me any time. Almost daily Tara sends me videos of my mom dancing , laughing or walking with a friend helping me gain much needed peace of mind. I feel confident that my mom is in good hands, she is happy, and she is safe. That is everything to me. I would highly recommend ARTIS to anyone that is looking for a home for their loved one.

I've always appreciated the care my mom gets here and today was something extra special. I happened to visit a few minutes before Rhonda's exercise class where mom was seated. When I visit, Mom typically wants to go to her room or one of the common areas to talk. But today she insisted that we stay right there. I ended up joining for the exercises and what was most fun and amazing was the singalong portion. Rhonda had the whole room happy and smiling as we high fives to Neil Diamonds Sweet Caroline. Then it was back to the 70's for some Saturday Night Fever and The Bee Gees Staying Alive. Rhonda is amazing - she gets everyone involved and makes them feel awesome. Her energy is off the charts! She made my day just seeing my mom so happy and no doubt she lifted everyone's spirits and hearts. Artis is lucky to have Rhonda!

Anderson is always smiling and helpful. He helps my husband Tom with his dressings. The other day I forgot his summer shirt bag and ran all the way out to the parking lot with it for me. Tara is a smiley sweetie. She is always willing to go the extra mile to help out when Tom has an extra place he has to go and readys him up. She is always willing to talk to me about Tom or anything. On day one, I knew Artis was the place for my mom: all of their Receptionists are warm & welcoming, Director of Marketing, Business Services, Health and Wellness, Director of Artis Way Experience are very professional, accommodating AND want to hear complaints! I had one suggestion and they worked with me; I have no complaints. Who influenced me the most in picking Artis was Director of Life Enrichment; I cried with relief. She is wonderfully talented in her approach to the residents enriching their lives. Thank you Artis-Huntingdon Valley for taking care of my wife. After having a terrible experience in an assisted living facility that had a memory care unit that supposedly had experience with FTD patients, they failed to be able to care for her. They could not give her medicine--I had to do it. They did not watch her and she had a fall. They told us they could handle patients with FTD, but the staff that was not up to the challenge. Artis Senior Living- Huntingdon Valley is a "god send." While my wife is difficult, the staff is up to the challenge. Starting with respecting all patients, they have managed to handle her meds, her incontinence and here wandering. They take responsibility for caring for her which gives our family the confidence that we can go about our business without constant interruptions. The "neighborhood concept" has made my wife feel part of community. She has friends and feels apart of an extended family and so do we.

The responsibility of decision making for memory care for my friend of 30+ years was overwhelming. After a brief hospital stay she was discharged to a facility that, although the staff showed some concern, was a place I knew I would not choose for her long term care. The search continued until she was returned to the hospital and I found Artis Senior Living of Huntingdon Valley, almost simultaneously. It is rare, in my experience, to find someone who represents their company so admirably, as Kerrie Challenger does. She helped with the initial evaluation by sending her representative to the hospital to expedite the admission process, helped with completing the necessary paperwork, and arranged for a tour of the facility. Everyone at this location is involved in caring for your loved one. The facility is clean and well tended, each resident has their own room and bathroom, residents are monitored and encouraged to participate in the numerous community activities provided. Small groups are seated together at meals, and residents become familiar with caregivers. Kerrie suggested hospice care, a prescient suggestion, as my friend received a terminal diagnosis. The staff was helpful and supportive when it became apparent that health was declining. My friend was made comfortable, pain was managed until we said goodbye. I wholeheartedly recommend this facility.

My husband and I placed his mom at Artis Huntington Valley almost a month ago. We researched and looked at 8 different communities and Artis just stood out from all rest. The staff is absolutely amazing (especially Kerrie, Lis, Corey and Sharla). Many of them hold a certificate called CDP (Certified Dementia Practitioner). This was important to us because it means they need to keep up to date on dementia care. They were very helpful in the transition with the move in. The facility is spotless clean, the grounds are beautiful and Mom says the meals are delicious. Also, all of the rooms have full size beds. All of the other facilities we looked at had single beds. Mom is doing really well and adjusted much quicker than we ever dreamed. We highly recommend Artis if you are looking specifically for memory care.

I found myself in the position of needing to research memory care facilities for my mother back in the summer of 2017-thinking I had at least a year or so before ever needing it. Little did I know mom would need the support just 3.5 weeks later. From the minute I toured Artis Huntingdon Valley, I was impressed, relieved, reassured, and genuinely welcomed . The staff explained how mom would be welcomed, what her living area would be, how meals and activities were handled, visitation procedures, and more. Not only that, they also had a vested interest in mom's personal needs and activities. Here we are almost 4 years later to the day, and it has been one of the best decisions I ever had to make. Pandemic aside, mom has had all the best care. During the Pandemic, I couldn't have expected any more- top notch safety protocols, as well as care and comfort for both the residents and their families. It truly is a family atmosphere where employees care for each resident as if they were their own mom or dad. Highly recommend!

Stay away! I was on the inside for well over a year. Dirty and residents ignored. The nurses are difficult and unresponsive to residents. Rarely are they able to be found when there is an incident or problem, such as a fall, which was frequent. I witnessed a large strong resident beating another defenseless resident while she laid in her bed, and no staff in sight to disarm them. Most residents are incontinent so furniture daily had urine or feces on it. Once I found feces in the tv cabinet with the tv remote control, and on the sofa. I saw residents urinate on common room kitchen floors, & defacate on sofa. The majority of CNA care staff are a revolving door of agency people who show up for one shift, don't know the residents or protocols, do little to no work and leave; just a warm body there to get a check. Bedding isn't changed weekly as promised. Laundry is often missing, and all colors and types of clothes are carelessly thrown together in the wash to make fewer loads. Residents would grab the communally served food and throw it at each other during meals. I was there during Covid-19 before vaccination was available. COVID ran rampant through this facility and at least 12 residents died from it, that I am personally aware of. Two male residents who were unable to get themselves out of bed and dressed were frequently left to lie in bed, as staff didn't want to work to get them up, dressed, washed and fed. It was easier to let them languish there until one got bedsores. Neither man was verbal. Sure, the front office staff While front office sales staff Corey and Mary are pleasant, they spend 99% of their time literally locked in the front office and only parade in their high heels through the residents area when it's time to make a sale. What you see in the front office is NOT what is happening on the other side of the door!The place is filthy and most of the staff are disinterested. Often I saw the CNAs hide in the laundry rooms or in empty residents rooms to play on their phones when they should have been working. This place needs to be reported to the state board of health! It costs a fortune and residents are neglected in a locked, dirty, small place. There were never enough CNAs to take care of the large number residents. If you hate your family member, and want to spend a fortune for them to be locked up and ignored, then this is the place for you. Take note that any positive reviews for this place seem to be written by people who have “placed” people in this prison- not anyone who was on the inside, like me.

The people that work there not only treat the residents like family, but many of them consider them to BE like family. Ive witnessed employees from every different department go above and beyond on too many occasions to actually count. Dementia is a very cruel disease, but I can honestly say that Ive never seen those suffering from it cared for with such a level of love, respect and dignity that I witnessed take place within that building during my three years there.

Dementia is a very cruel disease, but I can honestly say that Ive never seen those suffering from it cared for with such a level of love, respect and dignity that I witnessed take place within that building during my three years there.

I personally work for a company who has partnered with Artis for 3+ years. During my career, I have had the pleasure of working and visiting with over 300 senior living communities. The leaders and staff at Artis are the most enthusiastic and committed I have had the pleasure to build a relationship with. For those reading this review that have a loved one who may be considering Artis Senior Living of Huntingdon Valley, without hesitation I can state they and yourself will be lucky to call this community home. Additionally, am writing this review to highlight the leaders and team at this community and how time and time again they have demonstrated to me they will go over and beyond for all who live here and are dedicated to their well being. With the staffs commitment, dedication, and enthusiasm towards the residents, all who reside here are not simply aging in a new place but rather have a new opportunity for independence, growth, and strength.

My dad was recently a resident at artis for a little over a year. I can do nothing but sing praises of the nursing and non medical staff. Everyone goes out of there way to help, talk to you and make you feel like family. The medical care was excellent and everyone had me at ease knowing he was safe and cared for. Memory issues are so challenging in your loved ones and artis is an example of how you can perform this with grace and dignity. They definitely are an example of exceptional care.

In particular Mary Mattes and Betsy Szamboti are consummate professionals who are committed to making sure the person with dementia and his-her family are in the right place. Highly recommend.

We visited my aunt this weekend and I cant tell you how amazing the staff is there. They were so warm, caring, thoughtful and helpful. I love how they all felt like family and were so sweet to my aunt as they cared for her. Im so thankful shes there and under their care.
