My father was in skilled nursing after a major surgery and it was deemed necessary to go into Memory Care to get the best support him as his dementia progresses. Tessa at Jefferson House made this transition wonderful and easy. The process was informative, quick, efficient, and compassionate. There was a refreshing level of transparency in regards to what this facility provides and what would be an extra cost. The website's virtual tour was great and made it easy to see the level of care they put into their facility and how beautiful it is. I quickly began to be very excited for my Dad as Tessa listed off the bounty of activities, therapies and entertainment at Jefferson House. I am beyond reassured about his well being now that he has moved into the Jefferson House and I can't wait to visit. Thank You!

After a lot of research, I can tell you that Jefferson house stands above the rest. Not only is the facility impeccable, which was built in 2020 I believe but the staffing and the customer service there is beyond excellent! We met with the community relations director, whose name is Tess (and we also spoke with Marnie, who is wonderful from Madison house -assisted living next door)and were immediately impressed. We figured the memory care facility would be not as nice and we never really looked at Madison house, but I can tell you walking into Jefferson house was like walking into Disneyland -and I’m not kidding! Welcoming and Warm! At the downstairs they’ve actually got a full-size Thunderbird convertible all sorts of really cool nostalgic USA themed Momentos to include an ice cream stand and bakery, General Store, that’s open for their residents. They play live music there too . There’s a lovely young lady that greets you as you come in and the place is immaculate. But Tess once again, you have no idea how good it is to have Somebody as qualified and personable as she is taking people on tours and helping manage the facility. She is also a registered nurse which is just a bonus. However, the community here has a full-time registered nurse on duty 24 hrs a day which is very unique. They also have an excellent low ratio of staff to clients. Another thing that we found unique about Jefferson houses that their staff is not agency staff that is they hired within from the family (the Koelsch Family) that started this assisted living in memory care community in Washington state many years ago. It is obvious that this family is full of proud US memories as it’s evident throughout the facility. We took the immaculateelevator up to the second and third floors, which is where the residents live I believe there’s around 84 or so, and both floors are identical. Both have their own dining rooms. They have lounges outdoor seating with televisions and outdoor Propane heat lamps. Should you need it? They have a place called the Jack’s Lodge and a really cool kitchen( Emma’s Kitchen) like something out of the 1960s where they actually bake bread and have cooking classes among many of their activities. The staff is what they take pride in and everyone we saw there was professionally dressed and look very happy. They actually have an excellent chef that prepares the creative selection of tasty meals which looked excellent. The seating is family style, and comfortable, and we walked through and said hello to some of the people they have some very high functioning people in the facility That you’d swear should not be in memory care at all walking around and enjoying the place and others that you could tell have the need for the assistance that they provide at Jefferson house. Walking through the floors are museum, quality photos of really cool memories of the United States and other people that just makes you feel like you’re in a cozy house and one thing that was also unique is the hallways are super wide. You do not feel that you’re in Any sort of assisted living facility or even a hotel for that matter -it feels homey- and smells fresh! We walked into a couple of the different rooms. They’re very spacious have large windows looking out over the territorial view of evergreen trees, etc. in Kirkland as they’re at the top of the hill There, but that also mentioned that when the weather is appropriate, they take supervise walks on the walking trails outside the facility This is a really great place. We love the fact that the different pricing included everything there were not any hidden charges which a lot of the other places will do to lowball bid, but Jefferson house is straight upfront -and once again we were so impressed with Tess and her excellence. So make sure to check out Jefferson house -you’re going to be surprised by what you see and if you’re really lucky, you’ll have a fresh baked cookie from the bakery downstairs! This really is an excellent place- and we researched a lot.

Thanks to the team for the care for my beloved husband of 37 years. Mana is a strong leader, Madison is an excellent ambassador, and Liz is a caring, knowledgeable clinician. The front desk team is welcoming and professional, as are the caregivers on the 2nd floor. It's a difficult transition to make for resident and family, but this team is ready to do what it takes to support the process. So glad I found Jefferson House!

For the past months, I had been traveling to Kirkland every 7-10 days to visit a friend from junior high and high school who was diagnosed with early onset dementia. She had been at Jefferson House for about a year. Each time I was there, the community was clean with no smells, and the staff was always so friendly and professional. My friend recently passed away but I wanted you know how grateful I am for the love and care that she received especially in her final days. She was unresponsive for her last two weeks there, but the staff continued to make sure she was comfortable and well taken care of. It was heartbreaking for me to watch her decline but I was so thankful that she was at Jefferson House. Thank you

I have had my family member in Jefferson house for 1/2 a year. The staff is attentive and caring for the mother, which is a challenge when caring for a dementia patient. I ask her regularly how she likes it there and she says she enjoys it!

I went on a tour during one of the informative open houses that was hosted at Jefferson House. It was quite an eye-opening experience. There were creative ways they taught us about what life is like from the perspective of someone who is experiencing living with macular degeneration or neuropathy, for example. As we ourselves age, we all know people who are either facing these challenges or who will face other challenges in our lifetime through the aging process or injury. And the treatment I received along the tour from every person that works for the Koelsch company was top notch from first stepping through the doors upon entry to my final exit. You have really put so much thought into the details for the residents there too, it is a beautiful thing to know about. Thank you for helping me to learn so I too can share this information and thank you for the work you do to help others!

Having a registered nurse on staff 24/7 is a huge differentiator. If you’re looking for memory care for a loved one, this place is definitely worth checking out.

All personal including patience, dining room, and office staff are always very helpful and if they don't have an answer they will find someone who can help. My wife has been a resident of the Kolsch Memory Care for nearly a year. She just recently transferred to the new Jefferson House from the Cedar Creek Memory Care Community in Edmonds, WA., only because it is closer for me to visit. While at Cedar Creek I was able to take a two week vacation knowing she was in the best of hands. I honestly do not believe you could find a better place for your loved one in the United States. The respect and care given to each individual is fantastic. This same attitude prevails with all of the employees, not just the care givers. the entire staff makes you feel as important as the ones they are caring for. Thank you to all for everything you do for my wife and myself.

Before moving to Jefferson House my mother was living at The Madison House in Kirkland, part of the Koelsch Senior Communities. She loved living at Madison and always referred to the staff there as family. When we realized that she required more care and needed to move to a secure memory care facility, Jefferson House was still under construction. So I toured several other memory care facilities in King County. None compared to what the Koelsch family have built here at Jefferson House. The building is so light and bright from the large windows and wide hallways. The hallways feel more like rooms, with plenty of seating area for easy and comfortable socializing. The walls are decorated to stimulate memories, like an old photo of a high school basketball team or a china set, cocktail hat, or a trophy. The first floor of the building is fantastic. There are storefronts like an Ice-cream parlor, post office and an old-timey general store. My family actually joked it was an adult style Disneyland, and who wouldn't want to live in the happiest place on earth! On our tour of Cedar Creek (an exact duplicate of Jefferson House ) Mom felt right at home. She literally walked in and sat right down with the residents having current affairs activity. That's when I knew she had decided where she wanted to live. Her dementia has taken her ability to communicate, which had kept her from being her normal social self. It was great to see that again. So I went along and finished the tour on my own. Then went back to find my Mom still enjoying the activity. We recently moved mom from Cedar Creek to Jefferson House and she's happy and I'm happy she is in a safe place. The staff at Jefferson House has gone over and above for my family finding ways for us to connect with mom during the challenging Covid times. Since she isn't able to talk very well, like a phone call, we have been sharing pics and getting regular updates. I literally wake up every morning and say out loud "Thank You" for the Staff there and for the care I know my mom is getting.
