I love everything about The Laurel of Vernon Hills Memory Care, except for one thing. Let me start by saying that this was the fourth care community for mom. She was in an assisted living home in Florida in 2016 and I moved her back to the Chicago area in 2018 to another assisted living home. Two years in, Covid hit and she as well as all the others who were living in care homes were very isolated, so my husband and I moved her to our home. She was with us for a year when it became clear that we were in over our heads. I moved her to what I thought was a lovely assisted living with higher functioning dementia residents but after six months, when it was obvious that she required more care, and they were planning to raise her rates twenty percent, it was time to move again. I could not trust that they wouldn't do that again in another six months, and I had to be careful with her resources. I knew I had to get it right as I never planned to move her again. So I visited six communities before I was lucky enough to find The Laurel. I loved the first phone call with Carol. She was so efficient, caring, down to earth and accommodating, I felt comfortable. When I first met with her, my heart melted when she told me my mom would be loved there. So true. I loved my first visit there seeing the beautiful decor and thoughtful display cases. It was a pleasure seeing residents engaged in activities with plenty of staff there for assistance. I loved that when I arrived with my mom, there was the adorable Amy to greet her and just take over while my family and I moved her things to her room. I loved that Darresha, from housekeeping was in her room to label and hang up all her clothes. And that her pictures were hung were hung by Eric, all so helpful for families under the stress of moving day. I loved that she was busy with activities and was never left in her room to sit and do nothing. Thank you to George, Traci, and Cydney. I loved that whenever I visited her, she would say how lucky she was to live there because everyone was so nice. And we have Julie Stoneburner, Executive Director, to thank for hiring only the best people. I loved the support groups that Carol organized, which is where I learned about Suncrest Hospice. I knew that when the time came, she would be in good hands. I am grateful for all of the caregivers and everything that the staff did for her up until her final moments. The only thing I didn't like were the curtains! That is the only thing I can think of to whine about. And I am laughing at myself while whining!

My mother has been a resident in this facility for 4 years. I cannot say enough about the caregivers and the administrators. My mom is always clean and well groomed when I come to visit. The caregivers take time to pick her outfits out and style her hair. I have watched every staff member greet her with a smile and call her by her name. A very nice personal touch. The building itself is clean and odor free. The people who work here always look like they love what they are doing! They are very attentive and engaging with the residents. I travel during the winter and I never worry about my mother's care because I know she is in good hands. I have never had a problem here in my mother's 4 years of care. If I have any questions or concerns, they are addressed quickly. If this is your first time experiencing care for a loved one, Julie, Carol and Liz are excellent resources for you. In conclusion , I highly recommend this facility for your loved one. You will not be disappointed.

My Dad has been at the Springs for Several years and my sister and I cannot say enough nice things about the staff and the facility. They treat my Dad like he is their Dad and they go out of their way to answer questions and be helpful. You can tell the entire staff has a heart and a great deal of compassion for helping people. Julie, the administrator is an angel and has been unbelievable during this journey. She is always available with advice or if you just need someone to talk to. The facility is clean and the food is good. We feel so blessed my Dad is in a place where he is so loved. God Bless everyone who works at The Springs.

Kindness is this business' core strength. See more below. I compared price and services to other memory care in the area. They made move in by far the easiest of any of the ten facilities I talked to, they were competitively priced, and services were very similar. The shared bathroom I selected was set up better than other similar accommodations in five of those facilities. The others were only offering single suites at the time. But that is only part of the story. The first time I talked to the Springs staff was about a year ago when I was looking for adult day care. They were not in that business anymore because of COVID control concerns, but got back to me later that day to let me know that they had found someone who was, an unrelated business further South, in Northbrook. This staff practiced kindness that day, and I moved my wife in this year. I go back to talk to her over her dinner (she can't talk to me, but listens well) every day that I can and that same kindness shows throughout the facility, every time that I've been. They keep open lines of communication by phone from both the nurses and the contracted doctors about my wife's health needs and are four miles from Advocate Condell Hospital, an excellent choice for advanced care, if that is needed.

The staff is genuinely caring and listens to your needs. They made mum's transition as easy as possible both for her, and for me. The facility is very well maintained, the activities are engaging and varied for the residents, and mum has nothing but raves about the food.

My dad became a resident about a week before Thanksgiving. Carol worked very hard to make sure everything went smoothly. After his first few hours there dad was making friends and the staff decided to change his room to be closer to some of the people he met. All of the staff is very kind and willing to help make sure dad is getting the care he needs. I enjoy checking the Facebook page to see pictures of dad living his best life. After being there for a about 6+ weeks now he seems to be settling in and adapting to what is his new home. The layout is great - a ranch with a lot of natural light and area's to congregate. The security is a comfort too knowing that he won't be able to escape. The food smells so good when we visit around meal time. The place is clean and the rooms are also clean. The staff all know "Al" and it is great to see him smile and get the care he deserves. And thanks to Eric, Gabby and team for getting his birdfeeder set up by his bedroom window!

My Dad received above and beyond compassionate, professional care at The Springs. Our family received caring and solid support along the way. At the end of my Dad's life staff members came to visit and comfort us when they were not even on duty! The front office, nurses and building and grounds people all knew the residents (and their families!) by name. The Springs is a very safe, clean and compassionate place to place a loved one.

My father fell at home, and required complex surgery. Following the surgery, he was not mobile enough to return home. We brought him to The Springs. The management staff worked with our family to arrange a smooth transition to The Springs. The care my father and our family received from all members of the care team, administrative team and maintenance team was outstanding. My father could not have been a better place.

We are new to The Springs of Vernon Hills. My dad had been in and out of four other places, hospitals and care facilities, that have never treated him with the respect and care that he has received here in a few short days. He arrived here after being bedridden for 2 weeks and I cried when I saw him walking down the hall today only three days after coming here. I can't tell you how caring and supportive the staff is to the family as well as the resident. They take a personal interest in each and every resident and family member by really getting to know you. They learn about the resident and try to make life here as close to what they are used to as possible. They look for ways to do everything they can to help each person feel treasured and loved. Thank you so much to everyone at The Springs!

My mom stayed here for 6 weeks before I moved her out of state. This place superseded all of our expectations!!!! They became family to our mom and certainly part of all of ours as well! Leslie, Sue, Jennifer, Julie ,Pat, Eric, Philip,Nora, Asha - I could go on. Every single person, weather care giver, nurse, administration, maintenance, chef, absolutely everyone was wonderful! We sure wish we could have moved them all with us. Funny, the place we chose in our new state happens to be a sister facility. The first person my mom looked for in her new place was Pat as she surely missed those big, loving hugs. We miss all of them! If you are looking for an absolutely incredible place for your loved, this should be your first stop and stay.

My wife stayed here for 9 months. During that time, I marveled at the quality of care that she received. First, the facility itself: It is clean, well-lit, wide hallways, comfortable rooms, well-maintained, and the food is good. There are places in the building where we could go for privacy, play music on their many DVD players, and sometimes merely watch the passing parade of people and vehicles. The enclosed garden was a welcome oasis of calm in the warm months. Most important, the staff: They were caring, well-versed in handling the difficulties of those with memory issues, informative, welcoming, and going above and beyond. It was quite a relief knowing that she was in good hands. I would recommend Springs of Vernon Hills for a loved one of yours that is dealing with dementia.

The Springs of Vernon Hills is a wonderful, welcoming place. As a Caregiver to my brother, Tim, when he suddenly needed the care of a Memory Care facility, I needed to find a kind, COVID free place. When Carol called me, I knew I had found that in The Springs. Carol was going to love Tim like her own brother. I was not going to be able to go in, because of COVID, so I had to trust. Carol, Leslee, Lillie, Julie and the full staff at the Springs, have proven to be deserving of my Trust. Before Tim arrived, Carol asked how they could comfort Tim. I told her humor, kindness, and dance with him. Tim has a great sense of humor, and loves to dance. My husband Dave brought Tim to the door, and then had to back away. Carol came out the door dancing, and Tim laughed and walked up to her. They danced their way in. Carol and The Springs of Vernon Hills are very sincere in providing loving care at The Springs. I am thankful to them every day.

We moved my mother into The Springs in Fall 2019, and everything about the place has exceeded my expectations. The staff is dedicated and caring, the home is clean, and its clear the residents are well-cared for. My mother, who had not adjusted well to her previous senior home, is much happier. Im very thankful we found The Springs!

My Mom has been here for three years. This is the third place at which she has lived, and the best. The building was designed from the ground up for dementia patients; safe, secure, wide hallways and lots of natural light. Some other places we visited, and my Mom lived at, the specific needs of dementia patients was an afterthought. The staff, from top to bottom, has my Moms well being as their top priority. Everyone is trained how to respond to the residents, and they are very patient. There is always an activity to keep them engaged...if they want to be. The community is large enough that the residents can find some solitude if that is their choice. When the weather is warm, the enclosed garden is blooming with flowers, and that is my Moms favorite place. My Mom is happy at The Springs. I am confident that she being cared for by professionals who all have big hearts!

My mother was the second resident of The Springs and lived there for over two years until her passing last week. With Tina in charge, I was able to sleep peacefully knowing she had her eye on Mom. No home is perfect, but the care is as good as it gets and far better than I could have provided for my mother on my own. Mom always smelled good, was smiling when I looked over at her, and seemed very comfortable.

The Springs building is lovely and soothing, but the most important part of the care is the kind and patient staff. Everyone in the building—nurses, certified nursing assistants, dining staff, and maintenance staff—always puts the residents needs first. We had been worried my mother would need to go to a nursing home, but found The Springs can handle all her needs. A doctor and her nurse practitioner visit regularly, and if X-rays are needed, The Springs can arrange for a scan from a mobile service. The staff is also very focused on injury prevention.

I honestly cannot sing enough praises for the Springs! I have a mother who lives there, and in all honesty, the staff at the Springs care for her as if she were their mother. When I visit her, its incredibly difficult for me because of her condition, but I truly believe, the staff sees through it, and treats her as if she has no memory issues. Each time I go visit her I am taken back by the genuine kindness and care that everyone there gives her. Tina, the director, and her staff are angels! They honestly live for the people that reside there and their families. Its a brutally difficult job that everyone there makes look easy. I am treated with the same dignity and respect that my mother is. It takes really special people to perform this job, and Tina and her staff do it with such ease and a smile. It isnt remotely as easy as they make it look. Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart Mark

Excellent facility made special by the very professional and caring staff. My Aunt transferred there unable to walk. Within a month she is now walking with the assistance of a walker. She is eating better since the food has home cooked qualities. It seems each staff member takes care of the residents as if it were their own Mother or Father. Keep up the great service! Id highly recommend the Springs of Vernon Hills if you have a need for this type of care.
