dad is staying at the Cottage, they are so helpful from assisting with is transistion to the Cottage to caring for his well being on a daily basis. The staff is always accessible ( even after normal business hours ), including Barbara the administrator, and replies quickly to requests for information and process issues. Communication with the family is vital to helping with dad’s illness and I am grateful they for their understanding of this important aspect of the service they provide. I love the focus on activities often for the residents and attention to their needs. The facility is clean, the menus are well planned. The staff are well aware of the difficulties with this type of illness and appear to be genuinely concerned and try to make it as easy for the resident to have the best quality of life possible with this illness and the family

The hardest thing I had to do was to come to the realization that my daddy needed to be in an ALF. It took me three months to find one that met my expectations. When I drove into the parking lot of Savannah Cottage of Lakeland, I knew I had come to the right place. It’s nice and clean, the staff is awesome - they really show they care about him and the other residents. They’re very attentive to them - the other residents are nice and my daddy loves it there. He always tells me that he feels safe there. One thing I really appreciate is, my dad started out wanting to stay in his room and eat but they have gradually encouraged him to come out and eat with the other residents and he’s finally starting to do it. I’m grateful that I took my time to find the right fit for my dad. He’s happy and I’m happy too

Savannah Cottage is such an awesome place. My husband is in the memory care section. They are doing everything humanly possible to help him accept his dementia which is not an easy task. (He thinks there is nothing wrong with him.) I can't say enough about the staff. They are fantastic, & really care about the patients. The place is also very clean. Barbara Brown the Director is fantastic, as she goes above & beyond helping the patients & their families. I would highly recommend Savannah Cottage for anyone who is looking for a place for a loved one with dementia. You Will Love It Too. Being a caretaker for someone with dementia was difficult for me. I'm so glad he is at Savannah Cottage being taken care of by professionals. Thank you all so much for everything you do.

I can’t express how happy I am with everything about Savannah cottage. When I learned that my dad needed specialty memory care and was guided to the Cottage I found that the staff and facilities would be best suited to provide excellent care for him. I have since then become more acquainted with the caring staff and their attention to needs of my dad, as well as the communication provided to me that I am sure this was the right choice. My sweet Mother in Law has been at Savannah Cottage now for almost one month. I am so thankful for the amazing staff and administration here. They communicate so well and have been there every step of the way getting my MIL situated and moved in. For the first time in months, my husband and I feel like we can breathe. Today is my favorite nurse, cna, Alma in Savanah Cottage of Lakeland, retirement. don't want her to leave. she is only one that has stood the test of time. Seen many come and go and she is the only that is still there and is consistent in my mom's care. She is wonderful to my mom, buys her clothes and always very thoughtful and friendly, can't say enough. Please stay!!!!!! Love you mama!

Alma Black, Is an excellent employee. She goes beyond the call of duty. Alma, truly loves the Residents, she spends her own money for gifts on Holidays and also purchase some personal needs for Residents that don't have the family support. We love Ms Alma!

Front office staff are very kind and welcoming. In particular, Tammy Simpson was extremely helpful in transitioning my father from the hospital into memory care. He has only been staying here under a month, so not long enough for me to evaluate everything, but no significant issues thus far and I am satisfied with my decision to place him at Savannah Cottage. The facility is clean and the care staff seem gentle with the residents and competent. I appreciate their efforts... it is tough work for certain.

My husband was accepted there for a month. Signed their 30 plus page contract that said money would be refunded if he passed. He only lived a week there and he passed. Paid $5000 for month, only got $1000. They fail to respond to attorney’s request for accounting. Law suit will have to be filed to obtain balance.

My husband resides at Savannah Cottage of Lakeland. Miss Alma has gone above and beyond re her care of him. It is outstanding. She loves him. She has been with the Cottage for 20 years I underderstand. I would hope management would acknowledge her with a raise, not just a "thank you". There are other staff who deserve appreciation and raises too. Many leave because mgmt doesn't appreciate their staff enough. 20 years you've had Miss Alma. I recently went on a tour for my mother n law. We are new to this and really didn’t know the necessary steps we needed to take to move forward with placement. My husband and I just popped in not knowing if they had any availability to tour but Ms.Daija and Ms.Ana saw to it that we were able to see the community. WOW is a huge understatement. The customer service that was provided not only by management but the staff as we walked around was just phenomenal! The facility was so clean and a wonderful smell smacked us right in the face was she welcomed us in. Ana helped me with all my questions and concerns regarding placement and the benefits that could come from placing my Mother in law there. They really show compassion for families struggling with the transition. Although we haven’t moved mom in, Savannah Cottage is at the top of our list! Great Job Ladies. Keep rocking!!

I have been a Firefighter in the Lakeland area for nearly 30 years, as part of my job, I have had to provide emergency medical services at every nursing home, memory care and assisted living facility in the area. When it came time to find a memory care facility for my mother with advanced dementia, Savannah cottage was at the top of my list because of thier high professional standards at a reasonable cost. There are facilities out there that are more modern No facility it perfect. But my mother has been living at Savannah cottage for 2 1/2 years. She is happy ,well adjusted, clean and healthy. All of the staff know her likes ,dislikes, the that make her happy and the things that she likes to be reminded of such as family.

Unfortunately several members of my family have been diagnosed with either ALZ or dementia over the last 10 years. As a result I've become familiar with with a large number of both ALF's and Memory Care Facilities in Polk County. During my crash course experience, I made use of the Elder Guide. It provided a good base of information. Since then I've added a few requirements of my own, whenever I enter a facility. When you tour a facility pay no attention to the chandeliers or other amenities. They only matter in your run of the mill senior living facilities -- where your loved one is still independent. Once care is required you need to pay attention to the residents and staff during your tour. This business of caring for adults that are no capable of using reasonable judgement is an exhausting task. Don't kid yourself, this is very hard work that requires that staff stay on their toes and on guard at all times. That said, BOTH Savannah Court and Savannah Cottage are fabulous. Does the staff appear happy and content? If not, realize that as much as YOU may like the place, once you leave ... your loved one picks up on that atmosphere. They are often not able to communicate that to you. Instead, their health declines more rapidly than you expected and they begin to act out. Does the director spend more time in their office than out and about? Does the director know the residents names? These are the things you should pay attention to. Don't allow things that look good in appearance distract you. Those things no longer matter. In this sad, last stage of life our focus is on the quality of life. Find a facility where they will feel loved and safe. This is Savannah Cottage.

I visited my grandpa for past couple of years and found him to be very well taken care of. He is happy clean and well feed. I have also eaten at the community for family dinner and the staff treated the whole family with respect and a good feeling.

I can't say enough about the staff at Savannah Cottage. My mom has been a resident at the Center for 3 years now, and because of the excellent staff and care she has received here has given my mom extended time for us during this ugly disease that robs them of so much. If you are looking for a wonderful place for your loved one then definitely consider Savannah Cottage in Lakeland Florida!
