I toured recently with my father and we were impressed with the facilities and staff, from what we saw. In addition to ensuring us they work with Medi-Cal waiver programs, the sales team offered us a great move-in rate and discounts, and even followed up with us twice to encourage us to sign. However, when we expressed our desire to move dad in about a week later, they said corporate would not be allowing any additional Medi-Cal recipients at the community. We felt disappointed and I expressed that to the sales director, who again blamed corporate. It’s already a very trying process to find a facility that your loved one feels comfortable in and that is within their budget. I wish Sunrise would have been organized enough up front to inform us of any limitations on lower-income folks. It’s demoralizing, to say the least.

I had a wonderful experience with this Sunrise of Carmichael Senior living community. The Executive Director was amazing, and the nurse and entire staff were very personable, caring, and attentive. Really impressed with Sunrise of Carmichael. Their specialized memory care programs, like the Terrace Club, are a total game-changer and give families so much peace of mind. This is an excellent assisted living facility. The building itself is just as pictured; clean, well maintained and inviting. Every member of the staff has been friendly and kind. They are attentive to the residents and their individual needs and desires. The dining experience is much like a restaurant. Residents are provided a menu to select their meal. Meals include fresh fruits and vegetables. These are people who seem to genuinely CARE about the people they are caring for. My family member is very happy here. He is able to get the physical and medical assistance he needs while still having his own space that feels like home.

I seldom review or comment on services or products. For me to write a positive review or make a recommendation requires the service or item I am commenting on to be extraordinary. Lisa Bellini meets that criterion. In the ten months my wife has been in residence at Sunrise Senior Living of Carmichael, I have watched Ms. Bellini create, implement and maintain creative and innovative activities and programs for not only those residents who are in an assisted living environment, but also for residents who are both memory impaired and physically handicapped. These activities include not only on-site musical concerts, interactive are projects with local artists and festive holiday celebrations but also outings and field trips to such places as the Sacramento Railroad Museum and Leatherby’s Family Creamery for ice cream. And always, family and loved ones are invited to participate. Many times, at 8:30 in the evening, when I am leaving after visiting my wife, Lisa is still hard at work, pulling materials together for an event the following day or putting the finishing touches on the calendar. And always the quality of events and activities is exceptional. Lisa is an important part of what makes Sunrise Senior Living of Carmichael special. Jeff Widmann

Though we decided to use a facility closer to family members, our experience with the Sunrise staff was excellent. Their experienced staff understands all the issues clients have when making a move to assisted living. The tour of the facility and the follow-up experience exceeded expectations. I met with Helen and Janelle to see if this was the right place for my grandma. Helen gave me an incredible tour of their facility and I got to meet some of their residents. It is incredibly clean and beautiful inside, you can tell the residents are comfortable. We spoke for a couple of hours about what I am looking for and about mt grandmother. They made me feel at ease and with a feeling of trust. I know my grandmother would be in kind and capable hands here when the time comes.

As a hospice chaplain I visit frequently. I am always impressed. The cleanliness, the amenities, and most of all, the staff are first rate. I’ve had opportunity to observe staff/resident interactions literally dozens of times. The first thing you notice is the genuine affection displayed. There is a family feeling, a familiarity that only comes from spending real time with the residents. I would not hesitate to recommend Sunrise, without any reservations.

I much appreciate the staff caring for my young adult daughter who has a progressive neurodegenerative illness. She needs help with all ADLs and all staff members are friendly and attentive to her. Staff members are available to assist with travel to clinic appointments and the nursing staff interface with the hospice team. Special thanks to Chef Jamie for meals prepared so that my daughter can more easily eat them.

There are too many problems with this survey, like the question about the waiting staff - some are really good and other are definitely not. I agree with my brother that this survey should have been sent to the residents - not their relatives. One woman here never talks to her daughter - how can you possibly get an answer from that daughter? The attitude of the staff if that everyone here has demetia, with the exception of myself and Ricky, so how would they know what they are saying? This is unfair and untrue. Most of the resident, at least on the first floor, are certainly with it enough to answer these questions. it's like Sunrise wanted this golden glow from the comments of people who are glad to not have their relatives around.
