They are the kindest, caring people I have met in this whole journey of my mom's. My mom has been in another facility that was more expensive but was so bad to their residents. I couldn't ask for anything better than Brookdale Communities staff they care for their residents, and you can tell that they are screened and tried during hiring as these people are always happy, patient, caring and kind to their residents and the residents' families and I am hard to please.

I am a huge advocate of Brookdale Union Hills. My Dad has been there 1 1/2 years. The manager "Dora" is very caring, "Jenny" has gone above and beyond and is so special to me, "Regina" and "Anna" always get answers to health questions I have. The facility always smells clean and fresh! I am so happy my Dad is at Brookdale, as I know he is safe, and taken care of. He likes it there too! What a blessing.

My husband has been a resident at Brookdale Union Hills for approximately two years. I am thankful I chose this memory care facility for the following reasons. The caregiver staff is caring, friendly, and always willing to attend to any concerns I may have. I visit my husband at different times of the week and always find him well dressed and content. The food has a Mediterranean flair and not only healthy but delicious, prepared from scratch. The reception staff is always friendly and very welcoming to everyone who walks through the door. Brookdale Union Hills has a busy and popular Activity Center lead by the director, Mirah. Last, but certainly not least, is the Executive Director Dora. When I first met Dora, I knew that my husband was going to be in good hands. She usually has her door open and is easy to reach regarding any issues that may be of concern….she listens. Thank you Brookdale Union Hills for taking care of my dear husband of 53 years.

I cannot express enough how grateful I am for Brookdale Union Hills. When my father fell critically ill, other facilities turned us away, but Brookdale Union Hills welcomed him with open arms. It was crucial for us to keep my parents together, especially after 57 years of marriage. The staff at Brookdale Union Hills proved to be more than just caregivers; they were compassionate, kind, and dedicated individuals who provided exceptional care for my father until the very end. Their unwavering support during his passing and their continued exceptional care for my mother have been a source of immense comfort during a difficult time. The facility is always immaculately clean, a testament to their commitment to maintaining a comfortable environment for residents. A little over 6 years ago, we found out my mom had early onset dementia. It progressed very quickly, and we had to find the right place. We checked out many locations, many had a lot to be desired. However, Brookdale Union Hills Peoria AZ was the right place. Its very clean and the walking back yard area is amazing to get outside and leave the walls of memory care. The staff at this facility is among the best, and with today challenges in staffing and having the right folks to do the right job, they really impress me. They tirelessly search and improve staffing, entertainment, activities, and one on one time with your loved one. Dementia and Alzheimer’s is by far one of the hardest to wrap your head around and coming to terms with the loss of a loved one over and over thru every stage of the disease is exhausting. Moving your loved one into memory care will never be an easy process, did I always like what I saw with mom’s changes? do I still struggle after 6 years not having my mom know me? You bet, however, these folks care about our family and become family. Folks entering this disease will adjust at different paces, sometimes it’s not very pretty, and its hard to let go, and truly trust that they need this kind of safe place. Mom went thru many bad phases while she adjusted, anger, disbelief, someone is stealing from me, etc. etc. All very normal but hard to swallow. She did get past that, and we are very thankful that she was in a safe place, where she gets love, nourishment and she can get help when she really needs it. My stepdad is amazing and with our family visits, often daily and weekly, we still get amazing memories where we meet my mom right where she is at. Thank you, Brookdale, for your family support, willingness to listen and be honest with us and mostly for your constant adjustments and changes to ensure a safe, healthy, and loving environment for our loved ones!

My Mother loves her room, all care givers. She has very few complaints in the 1yr 1/2 she's lived there. They are responsive to our requests, meals are quality! Clean, feels like a home.

I’ve had to move my dad to a couple of Care facilities over the last four years. There was something about Brookdale that gave me a lot of hope things would work out. That intuition turned out to be a solid choice. It seems like at every level, Brookdale exceeded what I was hoping for. Every level of care my dad receives is helpful and supportive. Couldn’t ask for a better place in my opinion.

I have had my husband in Brookdale for over a year and I am very happy with his care. All the staff and management are excellent. I never have to worry that he is not being cared for. They serve excellent meals and the facility is always clean and it smells good. Excellent place for a loved one.

This review is for anyone who is starting a journey they never expected to start. We never thought we would have a loved one with Dementia but then that day came upon us. We were lucky enough to come across the right people from placement agents, social workers, doctors, insurance agents, case managers, to the great State of Arizona ALTCS employees, and the staff at Brookdale Union Hills. We had visited other assisted living and memory care locations but this one was special. Tina Lay is the Sales and Marketing Director at Brookdale Union Hills. She returned our call and was more than helpful when it came to arranging a tour of the community. When something feels right, you just know it. From the greeting at the front door to the time we spent with Tina, we knew this would be a good forever home for our loved one. The entire staff is professional, caring, and helpful. Most of all, it is comforting knowing our loved one is safe and well taken care of.

My sister is currently residing at the Brookdale Union Hills facility. Before the lockdown, I was able to visit and the facility was always clean and the staff friendly to me as well as treating the residents kindly. Right now with the lockdown, it is fantastic how Veronica is able to make face time calls to keep the residents in touch with family and friends. I would recommend this facility.

When my husband and I were faced with having to place his mom in a care home for Alzheimers we dreaded it. Looked at many places and started getting concerned of not being able to find the right home. One day we were referred to Brookdale Union Hills, so we decided to visit thank god this place was a blessing. Very clean and feeling of home. Love the staff Tara went above and beyond to make the transition as smooth as possible for his mom and us. We highly recommend this care home for your loved one. Please take the time to visit, you will be glad you did. She has adjusted well and loves it there. Thank you Brookdale!

The challenges that are associated with Alzheimers are significant and there comes a time when family-caregivers need support. I understand the anxiety associated with making the decision as to what to do next. I made the decision to place my wife into residency at Brookdale Union Hills. I have found it to be an extension of the kind of support we needed and most important for me the anxiety is gone. The staff has provided assurance that my wife is cared for and embraced. Divided into 4 wings it provides an intimacy I can enjoy as i have gotten to know the immediate residents and over time all the other residents. Visiting is part of my daily routine and it is wonderful spending time with my wife. The park like setting outside has been great to walk and relax, even in the Arizona heat. There is plenty of access to cold fresh water. The activities available are diverse and engaging. They have introduced me to the families of other residents which is great in getting to know them as well. The staff is wonderful and all know both my wife and me. They interact with her when we are out and about calling her by name. When that happens my wife lightens up. There is a song with wonderful lyrics Stand By Me and Brookdale reflects that kind of support.

Clean, warm atmosphere, staff is nice. This facility is having issue with keeping staff on hand for all four wings. The company in most cases will let you bypass the 30 day notification of moving, especially if youre having problems with some of the staff or not enough staff on hand, as is most evenings. The dont keep very good notes on patients when issues arise with medication. No imagination in getting the medication taken. Food is middle of the road and most of the residents dont like the food. There has been one occasion of a food fight during the dinner hour, an issue with a patient attacking staff and residents. The director of the facility quit and one staff member has walked out during our four month period and two other staff members have been fired.
