My family and I recently had the pleasure of touring Independence Village of E Lansing with our Mother. Maggie was welcoming and informative and answered all our questions. My Mom said she felt real comfortable at Independence Village.The residents were so nice and involved in the activities there. While we aren't ready to make a decision now, Independence Village is at the top of our list.

I am looking to move to simplify m'y life, at 76, i find there are more things i want to do than deal with day to day d©tails on a home. Independence Village of East Lansing mets a majority of m'y requirements. There a few wants that it dors not, do i need yo weight those against dme things they do have that were not on m'y list. This seems to ne a very welcoming community with many interesting r©sidents and a staff that encourag©s individuals' interests to become activities where everyone flourishes.

Daniel greeted me and told me Daddy was in the dining room. There was so much furniture on carts in the hallway on the third floor that Daddy couldn't get through with his walker very easily. I have to say that that's not normally the case.. just today.

I know someone who moved in a few months ago. They love the place. Communal meals, so you don't have to eat alone. Many activities, so you're not stuck watching movies. But it's expensive, I understand why but still have sticker shock. I guess it's worth it.

Independence Village is a such a welcoming place. I instantly felt comfortable and the sign in process was quick and easy. Loved the grounds and building, and the lunch was delicious! I think my Uncle is really happy there and I am glad to see so much interaction between people.

We love that our dad has found a home at IV. He has good friends, a variety of activities and outings to choose from, and a friendly and positive environment. All the staff seem to excel in their roles, and really take a genuine interest in the residents.

My father moved into Independence Village in December of 2020. Like many people who have to make arrangements for elderly parents, I was nervous. Moving to Independence Village was the perfect place for my dad to live. I have been so impressed with the kindness and concern I have witnessed for the residents from all of the staff in every department. As an example in July the staff arranged for us to have a birthday party for my father. They served a meal and a special birthday cake for all of us to enjoy. There are lots of activities available for residents. Since my father is a bit of a loner, the staff reaches out to him to get him involved. I have even received pictures showing my 96 year old father playing a version of volley ball. Having my father at Independence Village has provide our family peace of mind knowing that the staff truly cares about him and has his welfare in mind.

Independence Village of East Lansing has been a wonderful place for my mother over these past 5 years. Maggie Quinn is an outstanding Director who leads by example. She is very visible around the facility and always has a smile and time for a quick word for residents and visitors. She has developed a friendly, caring and helpful team. We were treated with kindness and respect and as they welcomed my mother to their community. Everything we were told about the facility including cost, programs and what we could expect, happened just like we were told, no surprises at all. This honesty and openness has been consistent throughout the years.

My mom had many happy years here until she needed assisted living. She enjoyed all the staff and enjoyed her many friends. All staff were kind and supportive. My family appreciated the steps the staff took to keep residents safe during covid. I am very grateful to everyone at Independence Village for their kindness even as we moved her out of IVEL.

My 96 year old very active Mother loves living at Independence Village. She loves all the activities that they offer because she loves being busy. The staff is very friendly and willing to help. The maintenance man is amazing. He goes above and beyond by coming in on his day off if he is needed. I highly recommend Independence Village if you are looking for a safe, reliable home for your loved one.

I have had elderly relatives and friends spend their retirement years at a number of places in the East Lansing area. Suffice to say, none of them have been as good as Independence Village in East Lansing, MI. Under the excellent leadership of Maggie Quinn, they have been a leader in how they have treated residents during the Covid pandemic. While other places have experienced many cases of Covid, Independence Village has had very few cases. While they have followed State Regulations, they let visitors in when possible and worked to keep residents socially and mentally active. As a result, their residents have stayed remarkably healthy during this challenging time. I believe that the staff functions as a team and that they genuinely care for their residents. It is a pleasure to visit Independence Village in East Lansing and when you can't visit, you are confident that your loved ones are in good care!

We selected this location after looking at several in the area, it seems to be the best balance between independence and well managed. The ED Maggie did an amazing job at keeping all the residents free of Covid-19 in a state that was one of the worst and within a vulnerable population. She is deservedly well respected by the guests and families. We were kept updated on a weekly basis and when the vaccine became available, the residents were the first in line and had it completed onsite. My mom is always happy, there are lots of social activities, you can be involved or not as much as you want. The apartments are nice. The in-house dining serves three meals a day, I've come in as a guest for a few and thought they were great. It's all the efficiency of a big organization residence with the soft-touch Midwestern care that I appreciate.

My mom's health declined greatly just as COVID-19 started spreading. I had to choose an independent living facility for my mom based solely on reviews, word of mouth, and talking to workers. I was incredibly nervous since I'd read negative reviews. But my mom is enjoying it and the staff has been so kind. Mom was quarentined in her room for 2 weeks, but the staff checked on and visited her regularly. None of this was expected, they just wanted to make sure mom was aclimating well. During this stressful time, the staff has been incredibly supportive, kind, and accommodating. The staff cares about their residents and in this time of stress and so many unknowns, that is clear.

My parents have been taken care of in a responsible and caring fashion at Independence Village. Maggie is an outstanding Executive Director and her calm leadership during the Stay at Home order has kept her clients as safe as possible. I truly appreciate all of the extra time she took with my parents, especially my dad who is a grumpy old man. They have since moved to a facility more in tune with my mother's specific needs but I am grateful for the team at Independence Village. Thank You!
