The Manor at Oakridge for Independent Seniors in Harrisburg has really gone downhill. Rooms aren't getting cleaned, they appear to be running out of basic food for some meals, and management does not respond to any requests/complaints. The only thing they are efficient at is raising the rent. I don't think seniors deserve such poor services, especially veterans. Oh, and among the things that are considered entire "meals" are bologna sandwiches and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. YUM! The 1 pool table had a tear in one of the pockets. I spent 1 year asking for it to be repaired, but nothing was done. Finally, one of the residents CROCHETED a pocket that works just fine, but really, is that any way to run a residence? Now, the pool table has been missing two billiard balls for months - ever since an incident where people broke into the residence and vandalized the place (makes one wonder about safety.) Have the balls been replaced? Of course not! Notice a theme here. The "exercise room consists of 2 whole machines, a cross trainer and a exercise bike. The CT machine has been broken for months and was only recently repaired. The theme continues. My bedroom was flooded several years ago with sewage water from the room above me. My carpet was NEVER replaced. Oh, but there has been new carpeting put in the hallways - so unsuspecting visitors will get a better first impression. My advice - don't fall for it. The staff are either immature and rude or older and don't give a damn. The general manager has a superiority complex (for no discernible reason) and a visible disdain for both residents and staff. That disdainful attitude seems to cause employees to leave suddenly and was one of the main reasons 3 former residents moved.

Resident since June 2024 and can't wait to get out!! $2700.00 for 1 bedroom. Meals are mediocre at best and not conducive for heart care or weight care. Housekeeping (as promised in the lease) is non-existent. There is NO light cleaning, NO clean towels, NO clean linen and NO trash removed. Save your hard earned money and look elsewhere! Don't get robbed here.

The Manor has been my home for the past two months. Leaving the home I shared with my late husband was difficult but the staff have been helpful in making the transition. My apartment is spacious and It didn't take long for it to feel like home. The amenities - 3 meals a day, hair salon and chapel on site, and shuttle bus available for appointments, shopping and outings helped me in making my decision.
July 2024
I volunteered to wash the shuttle bus for The Manor. The community was very well kept and the staff members were incredibly helpful. It seems like an amazing place to work/live!

Great service, Great coworkers, and a Clean environment for the residents. Love the prices for rent very affordable, pet friendly and Ed, the new manager is the MAN to ask for help very nice. He made moving in such a breeze.

My dad, who is 94, is very happy at the Manor at Oakridge. Granted there are a few updates that could be done but overall the place is very clean. Everyone has been welcoming and friendly, staff and residents alike. They have activities if you chose to participate and a weekly mass for Catholics which makes it very easy for my dad to attend. He always tells me how much he enjoys the food and it sounds like the dining staff got to know him on a personal basis and now knows exactly what he wants to drink without asking. They also offer limited home care services for a reasonable fee if needed. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking. I am so much more at ease knowing he’s here and not in a house alone. Also, the location is great in relation to his doctors, pharmacy and grocery store making life much easier on me.

The staff here at Holiday, The Manor are absolutely wonderful! Both Craig and Ed are extremely welcoming and personable towards residents and guests. They are always taking into consideration different group interests, providing flexible options for participants. The location is quite nice too, it's peaceful and there is plenty of parking. The rooms are also very modern and clean, somewhere I would want to live!

Went for a visit and tour at this community. Ed was kind enough to show me around. First I would like to say that this a beautiful place with a lot of amenities. There was also neat activities going on to engage in. But what I really want to emphasize is that watching Ed with his residents was amazing. He knows everyone, has built a wonderful relationship with them, and that is including comradery. All the way around a wonderful experience at The Manor.
November 2022
I have had the absolute pleasure of witnessing the remarkable leadership of Ed as General Manager / Executive Director of The Manor. This exceptional individual has truly set a new standard for compassion and care, both for his staff and the cherished residents they serve. From the very first encounter, it was evident that Ed was not just a leader on paper, but someone who genuinely embodies the values they advocate for. His warmth and genuine concern for the well-being of every staff member and resident is truly heartwarming. This compassionate approach creates an atmosphere of trust, fostering a strong sense of community and family within this Senior Living community. AP

Expensive and dirty with stinky and stained carpet throughout the community. majors upgrades needed.

Beware of Atria locally owns Essex house in Lemoyne and the manor at Oakridge in Harrisburg. ....same outfit that accidentally served a liquid substance that poisoned one of the residents at one of their communities in California. As for my experience living at the Manor at Oakridge, it was positive until Atria took over. The local management has been great. [name removed] and his team are managing this place with their hands tied behind their back. the vice president, [name removed], doesn't acknowledge staff concerns nor the residents including me! the current conditions at the Manor at Oakridge are despicable. 25-year-old carpet...yes, you read correctly 25yrs old. we were promised new carpet and upgrades throughout the community more than 2 years ago. Atria continues to raise the prices (10% $300.00+/month) with zero reinvestment in the building....it's no wonder why people are moving out and not moving in. [name removed] only cares about his paycheck and Atria only cares about their profits off the backs of the elderly. Dp yourself a favor and skip this filthy rundown place! ..or check it out yourself and compare your notes with my description

I was here for 2 years. I enjoyed myself here. I was a professional photographer. I had many great times here to photograph the various bands they had in approx once a month. They had some very good bands. I watched Billy Wray. He was very good. Huge turnout. Also they had various food events. Christmas New Years were very big occasions and we served several times thru the day. We had cheese tastings, wine tastings, tea tastings. I also participated in making jewelry. I loved the game room. We had bowling. Also other games. Tournaments even. The rooms varied from Studio to large bedrooms. I met many very nice people here. I loved the managers here. The menu board when I was there was knew. I got to do it. I also helped with the meal services such as cleaning up or filling salt shakers. I did it just to help. It was not required. I enjoyed the Linglestown area. My doctor's were all close by. They do have a garage if you choose to have one. Balconies were available. I truly loved it here. I also walked a few times to the Giant a few blocks away and Members First just for exercise. They have a shuttle however. They used to have homemade cookies muffins even candy fresh daily. Oranges apples. Coffee and tea all the time. I miss being here. I met so many good friends here. It was a few years ago. Good memories.

Everyone , I encountered, were very friendly—residents, staff. Love facility’s setting—location very inviting. Excellent lunch—love the fact , you are allowed to choose what to eat from the menu, including having a healthy choice to pick from. During tour, felt very comfortable, helped me make up my mind, I could call this place home!!

Administrater is verbally abusive. My Mother can not afford to live here and wants to move out. He verbally attacked her at her room. Told her she may not move out until she hives a whole 30 day notice. Is forbidding her from using the elevator ( she is not able to use stairs and she is on the second floor). So she cant go downstairs for her meals. This man does not belong here.

Expensive to live there but residents soon intermingle to establish the family feeling.

My 92 year old mother has been a resident for the last 6 months. The facility is extremely clean and all of the staff are always pleasant and helpful. The management staff is excellent and are very responsive to any concerns that may arise. I would highly recommend The Manor at Oakridge to anyone looking for a 1st class Independent Living Facility.

After living in my home for over 50 years, the transition to The Manor was easier than I thought. Everyone has been welcoming and friendly. I certainly dont feel like I am all alone.

I feel safe and welcome here. I enjoy the amenities, the staff and the life style. I have made many friends here.
January 2021
I sold my home and moved into this independent living retirement facility because I got tired of heating bills and all the responsibilities that go with home ownership. If you are at this same season in your life check out all the amenities. They have studios, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedrooms, 2 baths. My 2 bedroom 2 bath is spacious. All the staff have been so friendly. I love it here.
September 2020
Management is bad. No communication. Was supposed to be 11 to 12 a hr. Was only 10 something. Everyone was good with the change with this convid 19. Kitchen deserves a lot of raise. Jaime especially. I quit cuz i got threatened about my job. Rude and disrespectful.

July 2020
Toured the facility to determine if this community fits the needs of my family member. Despite COVID, and the necessary related precautions (I was required to complete a short survey regarding exposure risks and have my temperature taken prior to being admitted for my meeting), the staff was very welcoming and hospitable. The rooms appeared in great condition as well as being ADA compliant, the common areas are beautiful, and the grounds were well kept. From my initial visit it appears that comfort and support of the community members is top priority for all of the staff.

A community to Live at for older people. Some of them seemed a little snobby. The rooms are okay, a little small but nice for one person. Pretty pricey tho.

We give this location for stars because while we were there the management & staff treated us with kind and gentle attitude as well as our family members living in the facility. Our relative is being treated quite well with three meals a day and access to popcorn in the lobby. The kids like to come with us now and will head straight for the popcorn.
