Great place. Good people. However….Do not put your loved one here or any other INDEPENDENT senior living apartment if they actually need assisted living. I did this only temporarily while I waited out my grandmother's stubbornness and found the right place. It was still a ton of work on my end and it didn't save her much money over where she is now. If you're worried about the cost of assisted and want to do this and hire an aid service or one of the contractors in the building…depending on your loved one's ability and condition, it may not be nearly enough attention or help, and will probably cost just as much as the assisted option. I love the facility, and all the geese. Overall great place. But not what many truly need.

This is a very nice facility. It is one of the few places in Richmond communities that have reasonable pricing for a high quality standard of living!

It is a nice facility overall. The best part about the experience was dealing with Connie Pryor. She was so wonderful with my mother and just such an incredibly sweet person. If we do not decide to go with Heritage Oaks, it certainly has nothing to do with her. She was so nice and helpful!!

My father has been living at Heritage Oaks for two years now. He is doing well even though he is handicapped. So many residents look out for him and each other. Everyone is pleasant. The room is comfortable and has an at home look and feel. Dad recently moved into a smaller room and really likes it. He is very comfortable at Heritage Oaks and does spend time outside in the rocking chair. The rocking chairs in the breezeway area serve as a social gathering. Certainly a place to be for a "breeze". There are plenty of things to sign up to do, anything from games, exercise time, church services, trips to groceries, banks and places to eat so you have time away. The dining hall is spacious and the food is nice. Dining hall staff is very cordial and serves with a smile. Our special lady is "Rosia". Another favorite is "Tina". Amazing lady she is! She does it alis Each room is cleaned by a nice, friendly staff. The management team is amazing. Special mention to Connie and Jean. They certainly run the place with much pride and Grace. Joe greets you at the front with a smile. Come on in, take a tour and know Heritage Oaks can be your next home.

Moved out of Heritage Oaks in August 2022. We moved to Chester, Va. because it was much closer to my wife's daughter and family. Is a very nice "Plus 62" facility. Then, reality set in: As the Chester facility has no dining room, we'd have to cook. All was OK at first, then my wife became unable to cook. I am also not a good cook. So, it was out, find the food, and bring it back to our apartment in Chester. Didn't work out very well - Became quite a chore. What do we do now? We come back to Heritage Oaks - to a nice dining room, and wonderful friends and staff. We move back in on the first of March. Ms. Connie Pryor, the Director of Heritage Apartment Allocations, went overboard, again, to help us out. She is such a lovely person and is a professional businesswoman. My wife and I are indebted to her - and she is a good friend of ours. Thanks Connie - and thanks Heritage Oaks.

An extremely pleasant and comforting experience. Would feel comfortable placing my loved one there. I intend to take them there and spend some real time there to get a better feel for the environment. The Director is a warm Christian person of faith who was passionate about her residence. I didn't feel that it was just selling for numbers or to meet quotas. The grounds were good and secure. There was genuine warmth show for me and my need,

My Mom and I both love the large one bedroom apartment that she rented. It is very bright with large bay windows and lots of closet space! I feel confident in her safety as there are pull cords in her kitchenette and bathroom with staff on site 24/7. They have recently installed outside security gates which is an added level of security. Heritage Oaks is very convenient for all her VA appointments and they will provide transportation as needed. It is just across the street from a grocery store as well as nearby medical facilities. Many activities are offered for the residents if they'd like to participate. Meals are provided and most she really likes. Her biggest concern has been the service in the dining room which is sometimes slow due to staffing shortages. Hopefully this will improve as the Covid situation improves. I do recommend Heritage Oaks to anyone that is searching for affordable independent living for their loved one.

Have lived in Heritage Oaks on two occasions and found everyone there extremely accommodating. Ms. Tyler Alexander is a fine Executive Director, and Ms. Jean Bone, and Connie Pryor do an excellent job. ALL of the staff became wonderful people to know. I must say, I made many friends among them. I would love to name them all, but I'd leave someone out. We had to move to an area that is closer to my wife's family - the drive to Heritage, for them, was just a bit too far. Thank you to all of the nice people at Heritage. You have given me a lot of good memories. God bless you all. "Namaste."

Heritage Oaks was my Christmas Miracle, I had been looking for an independent living facility for my uncle for about 3 months. I was getting very discouraged, most of them were full up or too expensive. Someone told me about Heritage Oaks, Connie the leasing agent called me to tell me they had one studio apartment left. I visited and was pleasantly surprised. This facility was clean and very inviting, Christmas decorations were beautifully done along with the fireplace going. The studio apartment was just what my 95yr old uncle needed. Before he came to Heritage Oaks he did not have a social life, so I was concerned that he would have a hard time fitting in. Heritage Oaks have events going on all the time and they encourage residents to participate, well the staff and residents have been so nice to my uncle and because of this he has a social life. He plays bingo, Pokeno, family feud and many other events. He really loves his new home. This makes me very happy, he now has a reason to wake up each morning. Since meals are included I don't have to worry about him eating properly or trying to cook . He is now in a safe clean ,healthy and inviting environment. I am confident that his latter years will be greater than his past. Thank you Heritage Oaks ast.

Connie Pryor and the other Heritage Oaks staff members have been a blessing during the process of locating an appropriate place for my family member. The process was already a bit scary and anxious;however, during the month long search we knew God would lead us to the best place.... and He did. Not only has the process been smooth and worry free; we are assured we made the right decision when we were led to Heritage Oaks. Again, thank you all for all you do!

Married here 06, 05, 2020 after meeting and a year of getting to know each other at Verena where we met. We both had previous marriages we were blessed , our loved one have gone on and now share a friendship, love, and trust.Even at young 80s we have a new, happy Begining..just ask us. Love everything about Heritage Oaks too. Grate rates, apartments, weekly cleaning,. Also wonderful staff, delicious 3 meals at various times through days,dine in or delivered. Lots of activities throughout the days. We like the staff friendly,and helpful and dependable. The residents are also great. Feel right at home. Thank God for all our blessings.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced home for your loved one where they can receive transportation, meals and lots of fun and fellowship with other adults who share common interests, this is the place for them. The apartments are a bit older but you cannot beat the value you receive for your money. The staff also care about the well-being of your loved one and they offer concierge personal care for those who need a little more than independent living. Definitely worth a look!!!

This is a clean secure place but the dining leaves a lot to be desired for a place that people count on for three meals a day. It doesnt seem to matter who owns Heritage Oaks, they cannot seem to change the the dining service. just this morning the dining staff had music playing so loudly the residents could hear it in the dining room and it wasn t music the residents would listen to by choice. The service is pitiful. Either Heritage Oaks refuses to hire the right people for the job or refuses to pay a fair wage to attract the right people as this has been going on for years. Thats why they are always losing residents and have so many vacancies.

Heritage Oaks really cares about their residents. Their staff is very dedicated and many have been there for a very long time. The building is extremely clean, the food is fantastic, and there are continual activities for residents. The sales and management staff are very caring and always look out for whats best for the resident.
