Woodland Terrace is an independent living facility for seniors over 55. The apartments (1 or 2 bedrooms and unfurnished) are comfortable and include small but equipped kitchens. The food is outstanding. It certainly ranks with that served at starred restaurants. As much as possible, Chef Chad Howard avoids pre-prepared foods and works diligently to control elements such as excess salt.The food plan is 2 meals each day. Activities are of the bingo and bean bag baseball sort. The management is not inclined towards providing intellectually challenging activities. The biggest challenge for residents these days is finding out about and dealing with unexpected, unexplained changes in staff, procedures, and expectations. Alas, management is neither appreciative of, nor responsive to resident input. Similarly, the building, which is starting its second 20 years, is realizing all of the typical come-home-to-roost maintenance problems of leaking roofs and pipes. The management responds to these promptly, just as it does to potential health emergencies such as covid and flu outbreaks. In today's world of senior facilities that do not provide medical or nursing care, Woodland Terrace is quite reasonably priced, especially with its no entrance fee policy (as opposed to facilities requiring a multi-thousand dollar fee upfront).

My experience at Woodland Terrace has been a positive one. I have met many nice people and have enjoyed a variety of activities offered by management. Top of my list is food service! I am enjoying the reprieve from the day to day challenge of putting a decent meal on the table. The chef and wait staff work constantly to provide good food and service.

Beautiful and well managed. Excellent amenities. Residents and Operators are all super friendly and helpful. Quiet location with peaceful scenery. Yet, located in the heart of Bothell. Can't wait to live here when I grow up.

Twice, I paid a visit to Woodland Terrace. On each occasion the grounds were pristine, the rooms we saw (studio, 1 bedroom) were A+ and the food we experienced, (one lunch for three and one dinner for three) was excellent!Each staff member we met answered questions professionally and with sincere kindness. One staff member stood out and her name is Emiko Greenidge. Not only was she professional and kind, Emiko remained in contact throughout the entire process, holding our hand, encouraging us and assisting in anyway she could. Not once did we feel like a number or a dollar sign and I truly believe She had our best interest at heart.I would recommend a visit to Woodland Terrace if you find you or a loved one in need of a senior living community.

I am going to give a running review of Woodland Terrace. It will be a step by step decision-making process until my wife and I either move in or give up on them. At each step, I will edit and add to this review. I hope that others may find our process helpful in their own search.2, 9, 201So far, we have researched the Independant Senior Living Communities in the Greater Seattle area and found it very complicated and confusing. There are so many different levels of service and financial commitments, that the process can be daunting. We knew that there are free counselling services to help, but we muddled through on our own. We informally established a set of critical features that we were going to look for. They included diversity (ethnic, religeous, and political) of the residents, satisfaction of residents, quality of food, interesting and health-maintaining activities, and comfortable and ample rooms. We had made visit, tours to two places so far, Merrill Gardens First Hill and Merrill Gardens University. We found things to like at each, but also enough things that we didnt like, so we continued our search.I made a tentative on-line inquirry with Woodland Terrace and Emiko Greenidges response was so warm and inviting that we arranged to go over there right then for a tour and lunch. We were WOWED! The facilities were clean, well-maintained, and attractive. The staff was warm, friendly, and helpful. Best of all, all the residents that we met seemed genuinely happy to be there. The lack of ethnic diversity was the only item on my list that was a miss. Otherwise it was a wonderful experience and we felt like we found our next home. We put down a refundable deposit and got on the wait list for a two bedroom unit. I started, as soon as I got home, to pester Emiko with more questions by email and she graciously answers them right away. We have made arrangements to drop in for an activity and have dinner there next week.2, 14, 2018We returned to try their dinner service and experience a concert at Woodland Terrace.The dinner was wonderful. They started us off with champagne and wine before ordering. The salad, soup, and dessert courses were outstanding. The entree specials tonight were Braised Shortribs, Chicken Oscar, and Scallops. There are always specials in addition to the regular menu. The quality is comprable to very good fine-dining, and if you cant decide, you are encouraged to order multiple plates. Two meals (breakfast, lunch, or dinner) a day are included with your appartment rental.Tonights concert was performed by a pair of talented veterans of broadway musicals. Their songs and dances covered a range of favorites, and the audience happily sang along. There are several presentations scheduled each month.During our dinner seating and while waiting for the performance, so many residents stopped by to introduce themselves and welcome us. They all seemed happy to be there and wanted us join in on the fun. I suspect a nefarious plot to turn old people into happy, welcoming zombies. My husband and I wanted a warm and welcoming community to live with-in after giving up home ownership, Foundation House has it all. A community of intellectually stimulating neighbors who meet at meals or varied activities during the day and evening. A Staff that is ever-present with doors open and never too busy. The Chef, Chad seems to love his work putting out to order meals and the best soups ever! If you have room for desert you will be amazed. A well kept grounds and building with smiles all around. We had Mom stay for 3 years at this senior living community. I was very impressed with the staff and caring she received there. A lot of activities, and really geared to the needs of aging clientele. I found the entertainment well thought out and a tremendous addition to the program. The food service is way beyond expectation, restaurant quality with a menu. And the wait staff is concerned and caring. Mom is diabetic and they came up with best meal suggestions for her to keep her blood sugar down. As she faced more challenges with memory I found the support staff to be helpful and patient with her needs and transition to managed care. Karl Miller is very professional and level headed. They do an excellent job.
