Independence Village is like a luxury hotel but a warm caring atmosphere by all the staff spilling over to the residences! The food is marvelous and healthy! They are pet friendly. I've heard many residents, me being one, say they would not live here if they couldn't bring their pet. I'm so happy I moved here!

I have visited Independence Village to find a place for my mom. Upon walking in I was greeted with a beautiful entryway and a friendly receptionist. I spoke with Heather and she was very informative, and let me talk with the staff and see a few room options. Everyone was so friendly and the rooms were bright and clean. We encountered the maintenance man, Ken, and he was so friendly and assured me that if there was ever an issue, he would be right there to address it. I feel very confident about my mom staying there while maintaining her independence.

Our first visit started with Heather, Pearl, and Sharon. They took the time and answered all of our questions. I appreciated their experience and honesty. This was a big decision. I have to say that all of the staff (cleaning, maintenance, RA's, and dining) are always so patient and kind, and I feel confident that my Dad (Carl) is receiving the best possible care. They are truly exceptional and nothing is ever too much trouble. The facility is always clean, bright, and welcoming. The building even smells good! The dining staff really took the time to find my Dad the perfect "table mates." :). There are so many fun activities to choose from. The communication is phenomenal. The food is exceptional. My Dad loves going down to the dining room for his meals. The buffets that they put on once a month are truly a creative tasty culinary experience. Independence Village feels like a warm and inviting home . . . not just a place to live. I feel like my Dad gave the best compliment when he says if he can’t be at his own home, this is the next best place. I am so grateful for the peace of mind that this facility provides. Independence Village is a true blessing for our family.

We were very happy with our tour of Independence Village with Heather Nalbock. We took a video tour with her because at the moment we are in California. Heather was very thorough walking through the whole complex, showing us our choice for apartments and even showing us how long it would take for my mom to walk from her preferred apartment to the elevator. When I mentioned that my mom would love to see this same tour but that she didn't have FaceTime, she did the whole tour again and recorded it and sent it to her. Heather's warm personality and friendly manner helped us to decide with certainty that Indepence Village will be a wonderful place for our Mom in Northern Michigan.

I love this place. From the personal care, to all the life enrichment activities. They have exercise classes that are always full, with caring, educational, and most of all, full of exciting people who love to laugh. The instructor Todd Ackerman has been instructing Senior Exercise for over 30 years. He brings warmth, medical exercise information, and help the seniors feel, wanted, needed, and most of all, loved. The food is great. The facility is clean and inviting. The management team is outstanding in their field. One of the best places, not only in Petoskey, but in the entire state of Michigan and beyond!!! 5 Star!!!

EVERYONE at Independence Village is so caring and responsive to their residents needs. My father was a resident for the last two years of his life and the entire staff was so helpful and kind every single day. My father felt safe and happy . Mom and Dad (Dick and Jackie) are staying here while Mom recouperates. Everyone is SO nice, genuinely caring, helpful, kind and warm. Judy even asked if we could sing some a cappella things after Charlie played the piano. We obliged and fun was had by all. And by the way, the food is GREAT ) compliments to chef Mike!) and there are always things to do. No wonder Independence Village is so highly awarded.

This a wonderful place. The residents and the staff are so engaging and welcoming. I provided a drum circle there last year and have just been invited back to conduct a 'Cardio Drumming' activity for next month on May 29th to honor "National Senior Fitness Day". This senior community totally understands how important it is to stay active. Their schedule is filled with continuous engaging activities. What a great place!

My mom and dad moved into Independence Village 5 years ago and they could not have chosen a better facility. The facility is beautiful and sits high enough to have gorgeous views of the area. More importantly, the staff is very caring and treats residents with respect. When my father passed two years ago they did everything possible to assist my mother with her loss. They also make residents' family members feel welcome. They take frequent trips for lunch and sightseeing, provide a variety of activities and bring in local entertainers. I highly recommend Independence Village.
