I highly recommend Aegis Living Shadowridge. My 97 year old mom moved into memory care 5 months ago. Our experience thus far has been above expectations. I chose Aegis for her after touring quite a few communities, due to the caring and knowledgeable director and staff. They have created a loving atmosphere and their actions live up to their words. For the first time since my mom's decline became evident, I feel we have a functioning team supporting us as a family. Their care staff pays loving attention to the residents. They get to know each individual and tailor their care and schedule to meet individual needs. I am so thankful for the flexibility and problem solving skills in the memory care unit. My mom is contented there and I love seeing her smile when a staff member comes to greet her or give her a hand. I feel that Aegis will be there to help us deal with the daunting challenge of advancing age with dementia.

I highly recommend Aegis! They took such great care of my mom over the past year, providing a warmth and caring environment. My mom didn't participate in many events however, the caring staff stopped in and spent time talking with her. A special shout out to Ron, Lisa, Beatrice, and Josephine who when out of their way to care for my mom. But everyone from the front office staff, kitchen staff, and maintenance crew all have a welcoming smile on their face. If you're looking for a place for your relative I would suggest visiting Aegis and you'll see for yourself what a great environment it truly is.

If you are looking for an Assisted Living place for a loved one I would highly recommend Aegis. My aunt lived here for the past 4 years. I was very judicious in where I placed her after she suffered an injury that required her to have more care than I could provide. I choose the right place! The staff is very dedicated and caring for the residents. The facility itself is top-notch. It's incredibly clean, and the decor is lovely. There are plenty of rooms and various spaces for residents to enjoy different activities. They have a great activities program with lots of stimulation, music, activity and socialization. If you're looking for a retirement home where your loved ones will be treated like family and have a comfortable, beautiful environment to live in, I highly recommend this place.

Aegis has been the best facility my father has been at hands down. The staff are great and activities and efforts to make it a warm and friendly environment are evident. He is cared for very well and is a big relief to know he is in good hands in between visits.

Unmatched, genuine care in a warm, beautiful atmosphere. The team is exceptional from the GM to housekeeping. We didn't get it right the first time-this is our third stop because I didn't know how to truly shop for the right place. Now I know, and I am deeply grateful for Aegis. We love Aegis Living Shadowridge! I searched for 6 months all over San Diego to find the right place for mom and it wasn't easy. Aegis Shadowridge is really, really special. Not just the friendliest place (which it is) but their commitment to the employees... and their steadfast belief that all levels of memory needs can be accommodated in assisted living, so long as they have the ability to cope, is rare let me tell you. The CARE is outstanding, and really, when it comes down to it, that is job #1. Social engagement, live music nights, fun activities, big outdoor area, and great food for mom (she most always has a smile on her face) and peace of mind for me. Shout outs to the people who have made her first month a joy: Teri, Dustin, Viri, Jodi, Chris, Karen, Rachel, Sharon, Bonnie, Cristian, BJ, Mercedes, and of course the visionary (I know this sounds over the top, but truly amazing) Charlie, the director. ((We looked at many other places that touted memory games/enhancement and looked great, even were close to the ocean, etc...but I came to realize that as your memory declines your world gets smaller and its the people and fun INSIDE the doors that counts. Another community we looked atand put a downpayment on a few months backwas visually lovely, but after multiple visits mom had a memory assessment and they wanted her to go straight to memory care instead of assisted living. Turns out, it was less about her ability to cope and more about filling a room, so we kept looking.)) Then, the clouds lifted when we walked in the doors of Aegis... I HIGHLY recommend Aegis Living Shadowridge!

On my very first day I was made to feel so welcomed by the staff. Viri, Beatrice, Ana, & Elisa gave me a very warm welcome. I knew that I had found my second family. All the staff are so friendly. And I knew right away that the other wellness nurse, Celia was so attentive towards the residents that I would love working at Shadowridge.

Aegis is an amazing place to be with a freindly environment and awesome staff! Our kitchen crew shows up and shows out everyday! From our amazing dishwashers Tomas, Christian, Eric keeping our kitchen spotless, to our cooks Rafa, Juan, Ted putting out beautiful meals and memorable events day in and day out with the help of our servers Janeen, margarita, Mercedes,Bri,and Bonnie making it all an amazing dining experience for all our residents and guest! Aegis is an outstanding community! Charlie is an exceptional leader and their community takes a higher acuity of care than most assisted living communities. Lisa is an excellent nurse and leader in their community...along with Dustin and Celia! They also provide excellent care as a staff and I've witnessed first-hand how well they communicate with the families of residents. In the few weeks that my wife has been at Aegis I've been so impressed by the caring professionalism of the staff. Her caregivers respond promptly to her and provide whatever comfort she needs. The food is very good with a varied menu. Dustin Banks and his medical team are clinically astute and adept at managing complex medical situations. Last year, when my mom's worsening mobility and substantial memory issues made it unsafe for her to continue living independently, we made the tough decision to move her out of her home of many decades. In touring some dozen facilities, we decided on Aegis in Oceanside, not far from my home. Some places we toured were swanky resorts with all the bells and whistles, but she didn't need all that. She needed a clean and inviting environment, but she also needed great care. Aegis promised to provide that. In the end we went with Aegis because it was the right size for her, with the right amenities and a nice choice of apartments. The menu looked good, there was a small theater for watching movies, a hair salon, and a common area that serves as a nice community gathering place with comfy chairs, game tables, music, bookshelves, and a fireplace. The facility is inviting, with a pleasant entrance and a beautiful courtyard. As for the caregiving staff, it perhaps goes without saying that elderly people struggling with cognitive decline and failing bodies get out-of-sorts sometimes, and yet not once did I witness Aegis staff being anything less than kind. When mom first moved to Aegis, there was a period of settling in when she missed her old home and everything was strange and new. She could be stubborn (alright, famously stubborn!), and it took some weeks to become accustomed to her surroundings, but her caregivers got to know her and worked with her. She was invited and encouraged to join in activities, but never forced. It helped that throughout her time at Aegis she was cared for by the same staff, whom she came to trust. They respected her dignity. More recently, when it came time for hospice, Aegis arranged for the agency to come to my mom's bedside where she was able to remain under the care of the caregivers who had become a great comfort to her rather than being carted off in her final weeks to a nursing facility. In every possible way, Aegis staff went above and beyond to make her last days comfortable. After mom's passing last week, I was at peace with my decision to trust Aegis with her care. I moved my Mother to Aegis of Shadowridge approx. 4 yrs.ago. I can honestly say her health improved and she has been cared for lovingly by her caregivers, the directors, activity personnel, and the secretaries. She has been in Memory Care for about 3 months now and the staff made the transition easy for her. She is doing well there and is engaged.

The entire care team at Aegis Shadowridge was amazing! From the start, they were accommodating and friendly, welcoming my mother into all the activities they could in the brief amount of time she was there. My mother needed a facility that was going to care for her needs as they arose. When she moved in, nobody thought, her family, nor the care team, that she would require the extended amount of assistance she did as her decline happened so suddenly. They were there at every move tending to her needs to ensure the comfort my mother needed and the support we, as her family, needed. The caregivers, nurses, med techs, activity coordinators, chefs, and facility managers were all kind and compassionate, thinking and acting on the people first principle. I could not be more thankful for their care, concern, and diligence in allowing my mother's last few days with us to be so integrated, empathetic, and meaningful. My mother has been at Aegis Shadowridge for 3 years, in their memory care unit. I couldnt ask for a better place for her to reside. The staff is the most caring and loving group of people you could ever ask for. Especially during the pandemic when all Assisted Living facilities were shut down to outside visitors, I never once had a moments worry because I knew she was in the best possible hands. Aegis Shadowridge are dedicated employees who love what they do and treat each resident as a family member. My family and I only want the best for my mom in her final years and thats what weve found in Aegis!

Aegis Living Shadowridge has proven throughout 2020 to be the most outstanding long-term residential care home I have ever encountered. The staff and management really care about the residents and have filled in with love in place of family members during the COVID-19 pandemic. They have been the lifeline to our loved ones living at Aegis ... protecting them from the virus, putting forth effort far above and beyond the call of duty during this challenging time. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Aegis, Shadowridge was a fun place to live for residents AND a fun place to visit for family members. The food is great, numerous activities such as yoga exercise classes, bus tours, walks in the fabulous gardens, daily entertainment, hair salon, manicurist, and much more. Currently, in the midst of this pandemic, there are no words to express my gratitude to the management, staff, and especially the caregivers at Aegis, Shadowridge for their excellence and professionalism in finding ways to keep the residents happy and well during these trying times. They are all heroes in the truest sense of kindness and self- sacrifice. My hat is off to them. Thank you Aegis for taking such good care of my mom.

My mom works there and shes considered the best worker at Aegis at Shadowridge. Introduce yourself or your loved one to her and Ill almost guarantee that youll like her. Shes a hard worker, very caring and gets the job done.

The facility is nice and my dad likes his nurses. The only complaint I have is not receiving call backs when I leave messages for the head nurse regarding dads health. Its happened three times now.

My mother needed palliative care during her final weeks and the staff at Aegis worked with us to get her settled. All of her caregivers were excellent and very caring. My brother and I could not ask for better care. Any concern was addressed immediately. It is far from a typical assisted living facility. It looks like a hotel and a very well maintained and CLEAN hotel. Our only regret was not being able to talk our mom into moving there earlier in her life. My brother, Will and I are eternally grateful for the care and compassionate help your staff gave to my mom.

This facility is fantastic. The entire place is warm and inviting. The staff is friendly, caring and always interested in how all the residents are doing. The know everyone by name, and make a point to say hello. It is such a wonderful place for a person to live out their senior years.

We moved my 99 y.o. Mom here in April 2017. We could not be happier w, staff, activities, care and all around cleanliness and upkeep of this remarkable place. We couldnt have made a better choice for her. Even though she was very reluctant to leave her home she has made new friends and participates in lots of activities and outings.
