My mom has been at Truewood since March 24th 2026 and we are delighted we found this place. I walked in off the street with no appointment and Caitlin didn't skip a beat in greeting me and showing me around their facility. I was pleased with what I saw and proceeded to get our ducks in a row to move Mom in. Caitlin was there for every detail and with encouragement when the details proved to be a bit frustrating (on Mom's doctors side of things). So far we are very happy with all the care she receives. Considering that these changes in our parents lives are hard, we are so glad for Truewood and all it's staff.

Truewood by Merrill has provided a great experience for our family since the first moment we visited. Caitlyn Bickerstaff met with us, discussed all of the aspects of care here, answered our multitude of questions and gave us a tour. We were so impressed we didn't visit any other facilities. Caitlyn and I talked almost every day prior to decision making and move in. Mom needed memory care and facility and staff were awesome from the first moment. We moved Mom in about 5 weeks after that first encounter and have been very pleased with the care Mom has received since. Can't recommend it enough. It's a well run, clean, happy place with excellent care and compassion by all.

Although my 95 year old father had been independent, I recently found that he needed to be in a safer place with assistance. I moved him from Illinois, where he lived for 95 years, to Texas to be closer to me and so I could monitor his health and well being. Obviously the whole move was quite the upheaval for him. He was very resistant to move into assisted care, but Caitlin in her kind, caring, and professional manner came to our home and assured him that he would be well taken care of with a huge dose of fun along the way. I had researched Truewood earlier and I felt this would be a good match for him and with Caitlin's help we were able to smoothly transition him into Truewood. Once he arrived there Evelyn, the LVN on staff, went out of her way to welcome and assure him that he would be well taken care of. It was a hard decision to move my my dad from Illinois, to Texas, and then to assisted living, but I know he is in a safe place and well taken care of. When I go visit him, he is always on his way to one activity or another. I expected a difficult transition, but they keep him so busy I doubt he even thinks much about being bored or sad. Thank you to the administration and caregivers for giving my dad a safe and happy setting to age in place. I will forever be grateful.

When I see exemplary customer care, I make certain to take the time to share with others. I knew Truewood was different and special as we were taking the tour of the facility. Caitlin knew the names of every resident and their loved ones we passed, and stopped to take the time to chat with each person. I could see the smiles on their faces as she was approaching, so I knew it wasn't manufactured for our benefit. Everyone we have met during the transition - from the rehab, to the move-in process, has been kind and genuinely cares about the people they serve. Kindness and authentic passion for the social services people provide can't be faked. Organizations either have genuine customer care built into their culture's DNA or they don't. If the leadership team models the way of customer excellence, then almost all others do the same. Truewood is what "right looks like" to us for the care of our dear loved one. Cliff and Janet

My aunt moved to Truewood in the summer of 2023 after losing her husband. She had previously lived in Oklahoma for many years and was battling to stay ahead of advancing dementia. It was a hugely challenging transition for my aunt and our family. The staff at Truewood embraced my aunt and worked diligently to help her settle in. They also kept our family in "the loop" and supported us throughout the process, as well. Everyone was so kind and caring during her journey there, from assisted living to memory care. All of the caregivers and support staff went out of their way to help my aunt and our family. As observed in our numerous visits, the staff showed genuine and personal care for all of the residents. When my aunt had to transition to a skilled nursing facility, the folks at Truewood were understanding and helped to make the move as seamless as possible. We will be forever grateful.

My mom recently had some health issues & had to be moved from living independently in SETX, to memory care here in Georgetown. I visited almost all memory facilities within a 10 mile radius…& all had their strengths & weaknesses, but I felt that Truwood (formerly Legacy) would be the best fit for my mom. I don't think I could have made a better choice - she LOVES it there! Her room is beautiful & spacious, the food is delicious & the staff is caring & kind! They have all sorts of fun daily programs & activities for the residents & try to integrate the memory residents in with the others as much as possible…which is nice. I hear a lot of laughter in the community…which is very telling to me! Both the staff and the residents seem very happy, and I didn't always find that with the other communities. I also appreciate the frequent communication & updates about my mom. I feel like my mom is getting the best of care, and she is as happy as a clam! Who could ask for anything more?

I recently toured. I've visited many communities in my search for a place for my mom. I want to like this community but the food choices are so so few and so poor that I'm afraid it would be an issue. Breakfast is the same thing every single day (choice of meat, eggs, cereal). Just 5 days straight of this and I would be sick of it. I cant imagine having the same for the rest of my life. So many items on the lunch and dinner menu are fried, fatty or low quality. I went over a whole month's menu with my mom and 75% of the items she won't eat and/or I really wouldn't want her to eat on a regular basis (hot dogs, fritos, french fries, sausage, mac & cheese, baked beans,...) Reminds me of bad school cafeteria food or concession stand food. Merrill family, please look into this. Good nutrition is important for our elderly.

We brought my mother-in-law from Indiana this last January to live near us here in Georgetown. We had visited many assisted living facilities before deciding which one would (hopefully) be the best for her.The decision wasnt at all difficult as one would think. We visited Legacy first. Both my husband, Steve, and I were impressed for many reasons. However, since this was our first facility to visit, we hesitated only because we didnt want to make a hasty or quick decision. So we continued to view quite a few others. Nothing even compared to Legacy, not even close!What we were so impressed with is Legacys ability to make everyone feel at home. And that, dear friends, is the very best quality you can hope for. Whether it be the facilitys actual appearance both inside and out, or the courteous and genuinely warm staff and helpers, it wasnt a hard decision at all for us to make. We have been so pleased with all the care and attention my mother-in-law has received, all the activities that she is offered and, above all else, the communication afforded us by Legacy.Thank you,

When my mother fell and broke her leg a couple years ago, she lived in Amarillo. I decided to move her closer to me in Georgetown.Next, I did extensive research for assisted living facilities in Georgetown and surrounding area.As a result, I narrowed it down to three (3) facilities and visited each one.After my visit with the Legacy, I was convinced that the Legacy was the best fit for my mother.The staff was very friendly and shared with me everything about the facility. liked the dining room; where she has choices for all three meals, every day. Believe me, my mom loves a variety selection and good food.Her apartment has lots of space with a small kitchen space, large bathroom and shower, spacious separate bedroom, and a huge walk-in closet, which is great because my mom loves her clothes.My mother is a strong woman of faith. The Legacy has a couple nondomination faith services that my mom attends.Plus, the Legacy has Memory side that they could move my mom if needed. I figured at least mom would already be familiar with the facility and would be less confusion.The staff has been very attentive to my mother and making sure she has the right health services provided including rehab. Plus, they have been great about keeping me informed and in the loop.During the COVID with all the scares and concerns of the rapid spread in assisted living and nursing homes, the Legacy has been keeping us informed weekly. They have only had one person contacting COVID; which is amazing considering all the staff that must take care of all the people in the facility.The Legacy staff has really stepped up and taken care of the additional needs of my mom; because family and friends have not been able to come into the facility.n fact, I was visiting my mother yesterday at one of the outdoor patios and she commented that she was so glad that she was at the Legacy that alone make it worth it.

This place is amazing! Over the course of my time interning here I gained confidence in myself. All of the managers get along with is very rare and it makes for such a great environment. To top it off the daily hugs from residents and the accepting staff members. The residents family members are also so supportive and want to know each of the residents. My mother (now 98) has lived in The Legacy since it opened in 8, 2013. She originally lived in the assisted living area, but 6 months ago, transitioned to the memory care area. When making the decision to move from the assisted living to memory care, I received excellent guidance from the director and nursing staff. I usually visit 3 times a week, at various times during the day. The atmosphere is welcoming and tastefully appointed. Over the years, The Legacy has been consistently clean; meals are varied, delicious and well prepared. My mother has an ostomy and her cleanliness has never been an issue and she has always been treated with respect. The staff has changed over time, but always improving with the replacements. I know it is challenging to find and keep good employees, but The Legacy continues to strive to get and retain well trained and caring staff. Although my mother usually does not participate in many activities, Shannon, the memory care activities director continues to encourage her and many times is successful! I have found that the core staff is sincere in their caring for our family members. My mother enjoys living at The Legacy and continues to mention this and how the people are so nice and friendly.Suggestions: Staff should be more proactive in shampooing apartments rugs. Residence supplies that are ordered by The Legacy should be documented better so there is no interruption is process due to staff changes.

The Legacy has been a good fit for Mom, because it is her home now, and this year has been full of changes, leaving her home in May due to UTI and not being able to function on her own anymore. We are pleased with the care, and Mom is with her girlfriends. The food is divine! Mom keeps saying she needs to go on a diet, but at 90+ years, why worry? When Mom went into hospital last week, she got quite the homecoming reception upon her return, and that is what its all about , loving on each other and encouragement from staff and residents alike.

I absolutely love the staff here at Legacy. Lauren, Rachel, Corrine (spelling?) Jackie and the other ladies at the front desk. The attendants who happily do a very tough job and on and on and on. Everyone here has gone out of their way to help my mom. My Mother feels like she is part of a family here. The activities are always fun and entertaining. Many times I or my wife has shown up to see mom and she asks us to come back after Bingo, or bean bag toss or ???? I just love that! The facilities are gorgeous and we love the staff! Did I mention how awesome the staff is???? Thanks guys for helping take care of my Mother.
