We could not be happier with our decision to choose Canterfield of Fort Myers for my mom. Before making our decision, we toured numerous assisted living facilities throughout Lee county in Cape Coral. From the moment we walked into Canterfield, we knew it was different. During our first visit, we were impressed by the genuine warmth and respect the staff and management show not only to the residence, but also to one another. What truly stood out was the staffing management knew every resident by both first and last name, and the residents knew the staff by name as well. The level of familiarity and personal connection made us feel confident That our mom would be treated like family rather than just another resident. The activities, care, and attention provided to the residence are truly outstanding. Knowing that my mom is happy, engaged, and so well cared for gives our Family tremendous peace of mind. Canterfield of Fort Myers is a good place. When I was looking for respite care for a loved one, I was blessed to be connected to Jessica Arizmendi. She was and continues to be helpful, caring, resourceful, friendly and always available when I need something. After respite, 6 months ago, it was decided that Canterfield was was a great facility for my loved one. The staff is terrific. The administrators, receptionists at the front desk, fabulous cooks and food servers, activities director, medical staff, patient advocate, maintenance and more are very caring and professional. I thank everyone for their kindness and professionalism that is so important to all of the residents.

We moved my sister (84), from a dementia care community to the dementia care at Canterfield 2 months ago. The move was prompted by the severe decline in her overall health. She had developed a very severe dystopia of her neck, along with several bad falls. The last fall, resulted in 7 staples in the back of her head. Jessica Arizmendi sales marketing director welcomed us with warmth and understanding. She made the move in smooth and worked with our urgent need to move her on a very short notice. We are absolutely pleased with the care and improvement in her. The entire staff interaction with her has brought her back to being a pleasant woman. She is smiling and enjoying the new experiences offered. We will recommend Canterfield without hesitation.

We brought my father-in-law at very short notice to Canterfield. His cancer had very quickly progressed and we need a different setting where he could receive hospice support. Jessica and the rest of the staff here were incredibly responsive and helped us to transition very quickly. They also provided us with friendly advice that proved very helpful as we did our best to help our father-in-law. I highly recommend this facility and the staff, especially Jessica, who manages sales and transitions. What a wonderful place.

My loved one who lives in Florida needed placement with short notice. I am many states away which made my situation very challenging. I was very blessed to make the connection with Jessica Arizmendi at Canterfield Senior Living in Ft. Myers. Florida. She was sent from God and is the BEST of the BEST. From our very first conversation over 2 weeks ago to the time she transported my loved one to the facility, she was always available to answer all of my questions and most helpful guiding me allowing me to have peace of mind. Throughout this process, Jessica was kind, knowledgeable, empathetic, friendly, efficient and going out of her way to do whatever was needed, even sending me pictures. In my mind, she is an angel and I am forever grateful to know that she continues to be available to help at all times and that she is watching over my loved one with compassion and care. Jessica A. Marketing Director is one of the best TOP NOTCH health care administrative professionals I have ever delt with. She bent over backwards for my brothers admission; took care of everything he needed without a gripe/ sense she was to BUSY. She deserves a raise. She also would be a great person to Mentor new employees as she did not miss a beat, what my brother needed. Food, is ok per my brother. Canterfield won best AL for a few years now; I am an RN for 35 years, CRRN- certified Rehab RN x 20 years and have to be pleased with my brothers progress. My mother was in assisted living at Canterfield for two months. As her son and holder of her health care proxy I was directly involved in her health care. Both mom and I were very impressed with the care she received during her stay at Canterfield. I visited daily and was able to evaluate very carefully the level of care mom was given. We were so pleased with the different teams of nurses and nurses assistants that overcame mom’s severe health problems. They always treated her with patience, care and compassion despite her extensive needs. I also want to thank Jessica A. who was always available when I had a question or unique request. Our family loves Canterfield! The staff is warm, familial, and attentive to the wants and needs of each resident. Each staff member seems to be able to quickly recall a resident's name, room number, food preferences, and medicinal requirements on cue. There is a wide array of social activities daily; I always look forward to seeing what the posted memo in the elevator is going to say about the events of the next few days (not to mention the food specials, which are delicious!). The whole Canterfield Team shares duties and responsibilities seamlessly; I have witnessed staff members on several occasions serve a role outside of their designated title in order to quickly accommodate someone in need, as if their team motto is "I've got your back". Both of our parents started out there together, and our dad has since passed. The care for dad right up through his hospice was intentional and compassionate. We were even able to hold his memorial service in the Canterfield theater since it was unscheduled for an event on the day we chose. My siblings and I are all out of state, and the staff has absolutely made it their mission to constantly check in with mom make sure she is OK, keeping her social and active while processing through her grief. We have chosen to keep her at Canterfield even though it doesn't make geographical sense for us; some decisions are made on gut feeling alone and we just really like what our collective gut says about Canterfield. Mom's smiles only reinforce our decision!

Jessica is Top Tier- she made arrangements for us to come to Canterfield on shirt notice, got physical therapy scheduled right away and was so accommodating. Very much appreciate all she did! The staff was friendly and helpful, the surroundings are very nice and the food is, for the most part, good. A bonus is that Nino's is a half block away - you can walk to dinner for a special treat. We were there for a short term rehab but met those who were permanent residents as well. All seemed happy!

At the end of July we were faced with an emergency. My mother in law needed extensive care and could no longer live alone. She had been in and out of the hospital and rehab. I visited Canterfield and was immediately welcomed and provided all the information and help that I needed. Beginning of August she moved in.She was on hospice care and quickly became bed ridden. Although she should have been in a nursing home, they allowed her to stay. The staff was so kind and took such good care of her. Anytime I needed anything,they were there to help. My mother in law passed away in December,and again ,they showed compassion and support. I will miss the kind people I met at Canterfield and would recommend it to anyone who needs assistance with everyday life. They really try to keep things interesting with activities thorough out the day. It really felt like a home and not a hospital setting. We are so thankful that my mother in law’s last few months were in a homey atmosphere. Thank you , Canterfield for giving her that.

My Mom has dementia, and Dad was able to take care of her at home for quite a while. When he got sick, we looked into options for Mom. After touring Canterfield with Jessica, I called my sister and said that this was the place for Mom, if we needed to make a change. Very quickly Dad’s condition deteriorated and I called Jessica to see about respite care. It was the morning of Good Friday. She said Mom could stay that night if I could fill out paperwork. By mid-afternoon, paperwork was filled out, Joanna had evaluated Mom, and we were settling her in her new room. We were told to prepare for an adjustment period, and are happy to say that Mom acclimated very quickly, and her respite care stay has transitioned into permanent resident. We love that there is always something going on. All the staff genuinely care about their residents, and their families.

Chuck and Bob were very helpful and I appreciated both of them asking how I was doing. Showed true empathy for our situation. We met Marie, the activities director and she too was amazing. Ana and Cirene at the front desk are always fabulous but also went the extra mile to ask if we needed anything, to let us in MC, and also to lend moral support. Updated: I came to visit my mother unannounced. The memory care unit was clean and the staff were attentive. My mother was looking great and had her routine down. I've seen pictures of actives that she also has joined. We had extended family join us who also agreed the place was amazing. I honestly am so happy to have found this place. This is a 'just moved in and settled' review. I had to take over my mother's care due to her dementia. It has been nothing but emotional and stressful. Canterfield wasn't on my list as a placement (only because I didn't know of them) and found them last minute. They went out of their way to answer all my questions and explain their process. I never felt ignored or that any questions I had were ridiculous. My mother just moved in. The first day she was nervous so I asked staff if they could take her to be socialized with others while I unpacked her things. When I walked out she was watching TV with a group of people. She settled in quickly and seemed ok. Later that night I received a phone call - the staff said they wanted me to have an update because it was her first night and knew I'd be worried. She ate dinner, made friends, and even asked to go to bed. They checked on her every hour and she was sound asleep. There is nothing easy about making this choice but there are things that can make it better - for me I needed someone to just do the little things. I was (am) so emotionally and physically drained that I needed someone to just help with keeping her busy, talking with her, letting me move her things in before she even got there, etc. That is what helped me and made the difference. They have tons of activities but right now I have no report on them. My mother is tired and a bit confused, but hopefully I can update this review later to give feedback. I can see that right now at least she is doing the best that one can in this situation.

My grandfather has been in memory care at Canterfield for about a year and a half, and I have been working closely with him as his primary caregiver outside of Canterfield. I can't begin to say how grateful I am to have this group of professionals helping us to navigate the challenges that come in this new season of life. The communication with the director Pam is exceptional. She is always available to talk and work through the biggest or smallest of concerns. Luz from the nursing staff is always in tune with my grandfather's health and personality quarks. Again, the communication and quality of care is exceptional as we navigate unique and ever changing challenges. Tammy, the resident care director, has also been an exceptional help in giving my grandfather the extra comfort he needs when I can't be there. I hope that this review can help others as you search for care for your loved ones. I know that the search can be exhausting, and we all want what is best for our family members. The physical facility at Canterfield is wonderful and always well maintained, but there are certain things you can't get a feel for on a tour. I have friends with family in other facilities, and I have heard stories of the challenges they face with the care of their loved ones. So I know that what we have here is special and we are so grateful to have Canterfield staff by our side.

What a facility. We vetted over two dozen assisted living communities and toured 11 before choosing Canterfield. It absolutely sparkles. Resident suites have tray ceilings, beautiful crown molding, and bright lighting. Each suite has its own temperature control. The dining room is elegant, and the food is delicious. Staff is professional and attentive, and pricing is competitive. Canterfield actively encourages residents to join its many activities. This is in stark contrast to other communities we toured. Many simply passively allow their residents to languish in front of a TV. The quality of life at Canterfield is truly wonderful. Mom is delighted to be here.

Canterfield has provided assisted living and memory care services for both my mother and father. This new facility is attuned to each resident's needs, and provides them with the comfort and care they deserve. I am advised of my mom and dad's status and wellbeing on my weekly visits, and have provided me with their educated guidance on teaching me how to engage with them as we reach different levels of dementia. Lovely dining area in assisted living, and open congregation/dining/activity area in memory care. Delicious meals! Thank you Canterfield for being there for us all!
