The staff has had some turnover, but the creme is rising to the top and the right people are in place. The resident assistants always listen to our suggestions (memory care side). Lots of names I don't know, but always greeted with a smile and warm words by Jenna and Audra at the concierge desk.

My mother is a newer resident of Somerby Edgewater's Lilac Trace (memory care) community. I moved her from another community in Rock Hill that is absolutely terrible with horrific leadership. A lot of time, care, questions, and consideration went into finding and choosing a new community for my mother as I did not want to risk moving her from bad to worse or just equally bad. The communication, followup, follow through, and genuine concern from the executive leadership was consistent and refreshing throughout the entire process as clear and respectful communication was not the experience I had at the other place. On move-in day my mother was welcomed with a joyful greeting line of staff from throughout the building, confetti, music, smiles, hugs, and a gift basket. Overall her transition into the community has been smooth. There are minor new resident "getting to know you" bumps which are to be expected anywhere. Residents at Somerby Edgewater are never left alone, they are engaged throughout the day, they are changed frequently so no one is sitting for hours in soiled garments, they are treated with love, dignity, and respect, memory care is well staffed, and the staff are friendly and engaging with both the residents and their loved ones. Another added plus is that my mother is Lilac Trace's first plant-based resident and the kitchen director made sure to order foods that meet her needs which I greatly appreciate. It is not easy having a loved one who is living with this condition. It is also not easy having to make the decision to uproot them from what is familiar ” even if the familiar is less than ideal ” but you know it is within their best interest. That's where I was and if that is where you are, I highly recommend touring Somerby Edgewater for yourself to see if it is a good fit for your family.

I recently visited the Somerby at Edgewater, and I was genuinely impressed. The facility is absolutely beautiful-clean, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. From the moment I walked in, it felt warm and inviting. I especially want to recognize Madyson, who gave me the tour. She was so incredibly kind, knowledgeable, patient, and took time to answer my questions. She was so kind to all of the residents I encountered during my visit. She greeted each person with genuine kindness, and respect, it was clear that she truly cared about the people who live there. Seeing those interactions spoke volumes about the compassionate environment this community provides. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend this community to anyone looking for a caring and beautiful place for a loved one.

I recently visited my family member and I was very impressed with the facility. I was outside with my family member and one of the employees greeted us with a vibrant smile and asked how we were doing. The employee that greeted us was Madyson and she was so kind. Every time I visit SOMERBY AT EDGEWATER, I have a positive experience. The staff is attentive, friendly, and always willing to help. Under the leadership of the current Executive Director, Yvette Pearson, and her team, I’ve seen tremendous positive changes in the community. What stands out to me most is how hard the activities team works to keep residents engaged. They don’t just post activities on a calendar and hope people show up”they actively encourage participation and make residents feel included. The concierge team is always welcoming, the leadership team is approachable and responsive, and there is a genuine sense that everyone cares about the residents and their quality of life, which is very important to me as an advocate for dignity and quality care. As someone who advocates for seniors and quality care, I can honestly say that SOMERBY AT EDGEWATER has created a warm, inviting environment where residents are treated with dignity, respect, and compassion. Somerby Edgewater is an AMAZING facility, run by a PHENOMENAL Executive Director (Yvette) and TEAM , and I am so happy I found them. From day one when I walked in the door for my tour, I was greeted by a smiling Concierge (Jenna) and my name was posted on a nice frame upom entering the building which let me know that they were looking forward to meeting me. The entire staff was more than compassionate, professional, accomodating,, loving. and kind...AND, I knew right away that Somerby Edgewater was my dad's new home within their Memory Care wing. This facility is VERY CLEAN with NO SMELL, NICELY decorated, and the residents rooms are spacious, modern, and clean. The leasing and move in process was smooth and easy thanks to Lejla (Sales Director) and Ernestine (Wellness Director), and when I tell you the entire staff rolled out the red carpet to receive my dad on his official move in day on the 28th of May, that is an UNDERSTATEMENT!! My dad's welcome was OVERWHELMINGLY WARM AND HEARTFELT!!! The caregivers are compassionate and truly CARE, The culinary staff (Jazz & Paul) are WONDERFUL...they prepare delicious and nutritious meals for the residents and accommodate all types of dietary needs. Mercedes,(Memory Care Director) is very caring, kind, and on point, making sure her residents and their families are comfortable and well taken care of. This is my dad's third Memory Care facility since relocating to the Carolinas in January 2025, and hands down, I know that this is THE BEST facility for him because the staff at Somerby Edgewater truly LOVES and CARES about their residents!! After an extensive search for a memory care community, my wife and I selected the renowned Lilac Trace Memory Care approach at Somerby Edgewater for her mom. Sales and Marketing Director Lejla Dotson guided us through the process with commpassion and understanding that made the move seamless. Wellness Director Ernestine Jackson worked closely with my wife to ensure all her mom's medical needs were addressed prior to arrival. Executive Director Yvette Pearson has selected a staff that provides compassionate support and a safe, structured, and engaging environment. Our interactions with the directors and staff during each visit whether during the week, weekends, or holidays have been consistently impressive. The staff is highly visible and interacting with the residents, the food and snacks are catered to the residents individual likes, the cleanliness of the community and the rooms is apparent of the dedicated work and pride that goes into the community. We had the opportunity to work with Lejla Dotson while exploring options for my dad, and I truly cannot say enough good things about her. From the very beginning, Lejla was incredibly kind, patient, and attentive. She took the time to answer all of our questions and made what could have been an overwhelming process feel manageable and even comforting. Somerby Edgewater is a beautiful community, and we felt confident in our decision to place my dad there. Much of that peace came from the trust and connection Lejla helped build with us. Unfortunately, his Alzheimer’s progressed quickly, and he developed Lewy body dementia, so he was never able to make the move. We are so grateful for her compassion and guidance during such an important time. She is truly a gift to the families she serves.

My mom has been a resident for the past 13 months in Memory Care at The Somerby. Thanks to a new administrative staff, dedicated caregivers , and support from corporate stakeholders; Lilac Trace has solidified its status as a 5 star facility. Daily activities may include art and music , movement and dance, simple excursions, and appropriate games to meet the needs of varied abilities. Residents enjoy excellent food options that are aligned with care plans and meet individual needs. Most importantly my Mom is loved , receives individualized care , and is safe as she continues on her dementia journey . When deciding on care for a loved one, you only want the best. The staff at Somerby Edgewater is kind, compassionate and understanding always. They treat residents as if they are their own family and have open communication that makes us feel comforted knowing dad is safe and cared for. Becky, the wellness director, is one of the kindest people we have ever met. She has been a tremendous support for our family as we are caring for both my father in law who is a resident as well as our child who has cancer which has left us pulled in multiple directions as caregivers. Becky has helped us with things that are far out of her job description because she is dedicated to ensuring that every resident is treated with the utmost respect and care. Her heart for the work she does is unmatched and we are so grateful to know her and that dad is under her care.

My Grandmother Kay, has been here for only a week and really loves her stay and her new home! The room and patio are beautiful and spacious, maintenance has been more than helpful for anything needed to make the space perfect for her. The staff has made this transition such a breeze and have been so welcoming to her and her dog Benji! She LOVES the activities and the variety of things that is possible for her to do! The Blake is an incredible senior living facility. From our first visit looking for a place for my Mom , we felt welcomed and supported! The tour itself was amazing. We visited both the assisted living and memory care units , were invited to enjoy a meal , saw residents actively engaged in activities and met genuinely caring staff . The facility itself is beautiful, the included amenities are impressive , but it’s the leadership , the caring staff at every level , who are responsive to our needs as a family and most of all to the needs of my Mom that won us over!! Every single interaction I have had at The Blake has been positive ! They care about the needs of all their residents and to see my Mom flourish in a perfectly suited community for her has been wonderful . She has met new friends , enjoys dining with others , and is participating in Blake activities with a new found confidence and joy!

It's only been one week, but so far my mom likes her new home! Update after two months... Mom is still enjoying the Blake, making friends over daily dining and some activities. The place is clean and pleasant. She loves getting her her and nails done in the salon! Biggest complaint is staffing issues, particularly on weekends. I have addressed this with management. I'm taking my review down to 3 stars from five because of these staffing issues. My mom was left on the floor one Saturday for almost an hour before being assisted. Management has dealt with the training issues for staff, so fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.

My father spent two years at the Blake at Edgewater . We were extremely happy with the facilities and more importantly the care giving team! They took wonderful care of him for the last two years of his life. We began on the assisted living side then moved him into the memory care side when the time came. The entire team from the directors, care givers, and the concierge staff treated everyone with genuine care/kindness/hospitality.

We moved our mom into The Blake in late August. Every department has been accommodating and attentive to her and the multiple issues she must deal with. She has a lot on her plate and acclimating to her new environment will take time. We very much appreciate the effort of all of the staff supporting her.

We had to place our father in law there. They have been very good under the circumstances that came with our father in law. They have taken much time to assist him and help him be comfortable. The manager Jason had been very upfront and helpful to us regarding our father’s condition. He has been in Memory Care and they have taken care of him during his very rapid and progressive illness. The place is beautiful and they have done a great job taking care of the residents during COVID-19. I highly recommend the place for local families. They take there time and give the residents a very fair and good opportunity to succeed during his transition. Also the nursing staff and lead nurses have been very upfront in how they have been tending to his rapid decline.

My mom has been living at the Blake since Nov 22, 2019. The staff was very welcoming and attentive to her needs. My mom was very nervous and anxious about the move and everyone at the Blake made her feel right at home. My mom likes the food and there are activities that everyone can enjoy. Any questions or concerns I had were always answered in a timely fashion. If your looking for a place for your Mom or Dad, I would highly recommend the Blake.

I can't say enough good things about The Blake at Edgewater. My parents had been living there together for a little while but unfortunately we had to move my father in to Memory Care and my mother in to a smaller assisted living suite. I spent the last eleven days there getting their rooms ready and settled in. I can attest to how fantastic the staff is - everyone knows my parents well and they are so attentive to them. They get a ton of care, whether it is bringing the medicine, making the beds, nursing, you name it. The interior design of the place is lovely - the reception and dining areas look more like a four star hotel than a retirement home. They have large courtyards for both the assisted living and Memory Care sides with big fountains in them and plenty of places to sit. The food is terrific, too. One lunch we had salmon cooked perfectly with a lobster/brandy cream sauce, with roasted potatoes and plenty of roasted vegetables on the side. A dessert at one meal was a compote that had huge, fresh blackberries in it. They also offer plenty for the residents to do, including having a piano player come in, movie trips, etc. I would definitely recommend this place highly and feel my parents are in excellent care. I LOVE THE BLAKE !!! After 20 years as a Hospice chaplain and 40 years total as a pastor, I am amazed at the love and professional courtesies offered The Blake. Beckie Cunningham put together a hymn sing and a support group for the memory unit based on her compassion and seeing the need. I have the blessed privilege of singing hymns with these folks every week and meeting with the Memory Unit support group for spouses. So much love and professional treatment of every person. The staff is phenomenal and the harmony and professionalism is top notch for this TEAM of awesome people. It is with honor and great pleasure that I recommend you check out The Blake as one of the Southeast’s premier communities for assisted living and memory care. Assisted Living Center uses the term "assisted living" or "personal care" to inform users that a community provides assistance with some Activities of Daily Living (ADL's). It may not meet your state's legal definition required for that level of care.
