My mother has lived at Rock Creek Senior Living for just short of two years, during that time moving from Independent to Assisted and now to their Memory Care. Rock Creek definitely deserves the Best of Ankeny award it received for best senior living. The Memory Care unit was built for those suffering with memory loss and is cheerful and easy to navigate with a beautiful big garden in the middle so they can get outside, too. Hannah, the Memory Care director, is incredible with these residents. I so appreciate that she spends her time making their lives worth living, engaging with them not only with fun special activities, but also sitting with them watching TV and explaining what’s happening so they can enjoy the movie more, or taking two or three of them at a time to help her do things. I visited other Memory Care facilities much closer to where I live, but none came close to Rock Creek Memory Care.

We are so happy with the care that my mother is receiving at Rock Creek since she moved in at the end of March! The team members are compassionate and caring. Recently we learned that a couple of the team members specifically (Karrisa and Kanisha) went above and beyond in caring for my mother who has dementia and frequently is non-compliant with and resists cares. On a day not normally scheduled for specific cares, my mother decided she suddenly wanted and requested assistance. Karissa, cheerfully dropped everything and rearranged her day to immediately assist. Additionally, Kanisha has been very creative in how to approach my mother to make her feel more comfortable and open to cares. My mother, originally from Germany, still has a thick German accent which Kanisha picked up on. Kanisha spent some time to do some research and learn some words in German. She then approached my mother with her newly-learned words which I am sure was heartwarming to my mother. My mother was initially very resistant to moving into an assisted living setting, but now continuously tells us how much she likes Rock Creek and how friendly everyone is to her. My family has been very touched by the patience and kindness shown to my mother by the entire team as she has adjusted to her new home at Rock Creek.

Mom has been at Rock Creek for a month now, and we are so happy she moved there, and so is she. The staff has been wonderful, encouraging, and they are always so helpful. She has made new friends, loves the food, and everything she has experienced here so far. Thank you so much for making this transition such an easy one.

My Mom recently moved to Rock Creek Senior Living in Ankeny. At first the move was tough but once she was acclimated to Rock Creek she is enjoying every minute of it. Rock Creek keeps my mom very active through her mind & body with all their activities. It seems they always have something going on: singing, playing drums on exercise balls, playing their form of: beach ball, sock hop. Creating art. Having young children visit and do activities with them. Outings on a bus. Having a dinner menu to pick from like a restaurant. The list could go on and on. I haven't been there yet myself as I live out of State. But many family members have gone and all are impressed. I will be there soon beginning of June 2025. Also, I found this place through a place called mom. They were very helpful with the process.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Rock Creek Senior Living! We were apprehensive about moving my mother-in-law, who had been diagnosed with dementia, from her own home to a senior living setting. She was not open to the idea of moving from the familiarity of her home, but we knew she needed to be in an environment that provided more safety and social engagement. Holly, Tiffany and the rest of the team assured us she would adjust with time. Within 24 hours of moving my mother-in-law in to Rock Creek, we began to see her blossom! She is happy and content and we are relieved that she is in an environment that is so caring and nurturing. The smile is back on her face along with the sparkle in her eye. She so enjoys the activities led by Karin and her team. The move-in was smooth due to the caring team at Rock Creek. Special thanks to Jordan; Janet and Crystal and their entire care team; Molly and the kitchen team; and Robert and his environmental team for making her transition so seamless! We are additionally grateful to Hannah for the dementia caregiver information and assistance she provided to us prior to move-in.

I am not a person who writes reviews or does surveys however I am taking the time to comment on Rock Creek. My mother Rosetta was one who never wanted to go into assisted living instead she wanted to stay with one of her 3 sons. When she visited Rock Creek to see a friend, she was pretty impressed with everyone. When it became clear that Rosetta could not be left at home we know she needed someone around 24/7. Rock Creek was her first choice. After being there about a year her health declined as she was 96 years old. That was when she told me she was where she needed to be. Many of the others always were asking "When can I go home". Rosetta never asked as she knew she was home and where she needed to be. She loved the staff and the girls she had meals with. If you are looking for a place for your mom Rock Creek is a place she would call home to.

We chose Rock Creek Senior Living for our mother who has dementia. Best decision we made! The staff is wonderful, caring and so compassionate. Jordan at the front desk, greats you with such a wonderful smile and so welcoming and caring. He is so helpful and makes sure all your questions are answered. From the front desk, cooks, waitresses, nurses aids, everyone is amazing! My mom is so happy and she talks about the staff as family! It’s so nice to see her smiling and involved in activities again! Thank you for caring for our mom! She deserves the best and we found it!

Assisted Memory Care at Rock Creek is a very comfortable and homey environment. They have fun events planned for residents, including bus trips around town, live music, visits from daycare children, arts and crafts, and celebrations with tasty treats. The staff members are very caring and respectful to the residents. Dignity is always at the forefront of every conversation, every decision, and every action with residents and family members. Someone from my family is there visiting our loved one every day, and the staff treats us very well. We have full and constant access to our loved one. If your loved one needs Memory Care, go visit Rock Creek.

The staff is incredible. My loved one has been at other facilities and Rock Creek is far and away the best place for my loved one. I know she is cared for by a team of expert nurses and a staff of amazing people care for her individual needs on a daily basis. My mind is at ease when I'm away. Don't be turned off my the institutional feel of the inside, it really is an amazing, comfy, home for your loved one.

My daughter and I met with Ashley Zinnel regarding placement for my 78 year old mother. I want to be transparently honest when I say that I've never met a more outgoing, caring, and professionally compassionate person than Ashley Zinnel. We spent almost two hours touring the Ankeny facility. If you want the highest quality care possible, while you or your loved one lives in an immaculately clean, beautifully decorated, community based environment with wonderfully sweet residents, and competently trained staff, please make sure Rock Creek is first on your list! They are not about the money and it was obvious when I spoke with several of the residents that they love living there! A resident committee is in place to see that activities the residents want or after interested in go on the monthly calendar of activities, along with the help of an outstanding sweet and energetic activies coordinator. After our tour I was unsure of my mother's medical status since she was in the hospital at the time of my tour. Therefore, Ashely was super about touching base with me every couple of days. Ashley is such a ray of sunshine, she's sweet, caring, compassionate, and so genuinely concerned about what was happening with my mom and how I was coping with things. She has gone well above and beyond trying to do anything and everything possible to help my mom and make Rock Creek her new home. I could not have been more impressed with this place and their staff, which included their medical team. If you're looking for a place where your mom or dad can be cared for, treated with dignity, and respect Rock Creek is the place to go! This is a true 5 star facility in every way!

Loving staff. They treat my mother like family. Very attentive. The memory care director Cheyenne is extremely thoughtful and caring. The best we have experience in years. She is angel! Sends weekly updates and keeps my mom engaged and active. We have tried other facilities and this is the best in the area.
