I visited Jeanne Rogers on May 30th and was treated rudely. Jeanne died when I was with her and I tried to reach staff. I was ignored and staff would not open locked door for me, thinking I was a resident. This is the second time this has happened. With a small ward, staff should know the name of the residents and they should at least checked me out instead of ignoring me. I was really upset since losing my dear friend and to be treated as an outcast was very demeaning. I will never refer this facility since the care has been horrible for my friend. She has fallen 8 times in a short time she was in that ward and ignored. Definitely grounds for a lawsuit but I do not have the authority, other than harassment on my behalf.

We researched several assisted living facilities and we are so glad we decided on Winterberry Heights for my dad. He really enjoys living there and loves the food!. The staff are exceptional in the care they provide. Everyone knew my dad's name on day one. Everyone goes over and above to attend to his needs.

The family of Robert Magnus could not be happier with the accommodations and care he is receiving at Winterberry Heights in Bangor, ME. He is happy, well cared for, well fed and making friends every day. It is a great comfort to all of us to know he is safe, but most importantly that he is happy and well settled in. The place is like a 5 star hotel. It is clean, well appointed, and the staff is beyond everything we hoped for. They go out of their way to be friendly, helpful and professional. As the adult child of two aging parents with many needs, I feel a sigh of relief when I think of Winterberry. From the get-go, we felt cared for and were treated with kindness. I moved my father from a different institution into their Memory Care wing. My mother was still living with me, but I was in over my head. They did a home visit to find out all her needs and determine which level of care she would need, and a room opened up in the Assisted Living wing. Now my parents can visit daily if they want to, while each getting the privacy and level of care they need. All the staff I've been in contact with are good at what they do, and kind and considerate. Because of this I feel confidence and peace of mind.

I have worked in various healthcare facilities; the quality of care, amazingly helpful, supportive, positive staff along with new management. The dedication and well-being of both his employees and residents is astounding. My mother is 73 with early on-set Alzheimer’s; if she ever needed residential care, this facility would be at the top of my list. Giving those who have lived through so much the upmost respect, dignity and care is so fulfilling and they are so appreciative. We also have the best receptionist who works so hard, is extremely kind, helpful and efficient.

As a new resident from another location Winterberry is far and above where we came from. As women who use to cook we are critical for good tasting food prior to here I cooked in my room at least 4 days a week. I just wish we had a hand book telling us what is involved in some of the classes and activities since we have been purchased by another company I hope we don’t compromise on our future. My parents went to Winterberry in November 2012, and my father absolutely loved it there. He had been battling congestive heart and kidney failure and was no longer able to fully function on his own. Moms needs had increased to the point where she, too, needed the help Winterberry staff could provide. We children were relieved to know that our parents were getting three good meals a day, were having the opportunity to socialize, and that they weresafe.Winterberry Heights provides a pleasant atmosphere and is visually very attractive. My folks apartment is cheery, warm, and, importantly, manageable. It showcases their favorite things and is like stepping into a smaller version of back home.The staff is dedicated to the residents and Ive seen them go above and beyond the call of duty in showing compassion and lending a hand to those placed in their care. They work hard and are gracious.Mom had a harder time adjusting to Winterberry, but not because of the staff or facility, but rather because my father was back and forth to the hospital several times soon after moving in, and it was difficult for her. But she eventually settled into life there and made a few good friends. When Dad died in May 2013, the staff was so kind to her. As I begin naming people, I know I will forget to mention everyone who I appreciate, but, off the top of my head, those who have become heroes in my eyes are: Kelli D, Bethany, Karen, Crystal, Tina, Mary, Brian, Rose, John, Ashley, James ... and the list goes on. Since I was last there, new staff has been added, and my mother has come to enjoy many I have yet to meet and thank.I would recommend Winterberry as the place of choice to finish out ones years in a quality setting with quality of life.
