Our mother was a resident at an Assisted Living Facility and it was becoming apparent that she needed more services than what could be provided by that facility. We began researching facilities that could meet her various needs. As soon as we visited Charter Senior Living Williamsburg we knew we’d found a great place for our mother. We met with Elaine, who has been beyond helpful with this entire venture. She was available for every question we had that came up. She was able to facilitate this move so quickly, and for this we are so grateful. The staff at Charter Senior Living Williamsburg are so kind and caring for the residents. Mom was embraced by staff almost immediately upon her arrival and is doing so well. If you are searching for an Assisted Living Facility or a facility that offers Memory Care, I highly recommend you contact Charter Senior Living Williamsburg.

Our Mom needed to stay short term in assisted living. We were referred to Charter. The admins there answered all of our questions and made it an easy process. All the people that worked there were friendly and helpful to Mom and to us. It didn’t take long till she felt comfortable and enjoyed conversations with the residents and employees. She liked her cozy room and especially liked the courtyard where you could sit outside. All in all Charter was a good place for Mom and gave us peace of mind.

My sisters and I were terribly afraid of having my Father live in a home care situation. We looked at quite a few and decided on Charter. This was the best decision we have ever made! The staff feels like family, its extremely well kept, clean and he loves the food. It really is a second family. They have fun activities many times a month and know how to keep this place lively. We regularly visit a family member who resides in the memory care unit of Charter Assisted Living in Williamsburg, Virginia. We always leave very thankful that she is there. Charter Senior Living/Williamsburg has been a great home for my mom for the past 8 years. The staff is caring, kind and attentive to my mom. She feels very comfortable with them, which makes me happy. The kitchen and dining room teams are excellent, under the direction of Jamie Lewis. Activities Director Rose Segal is awesome. She's very attuned to the residents' needs and plans events that are fun and appropriate for them. I'm happy my mom is at Charter.

Here is what Charter has done for our loved one: 1) Nutrition. She loves the food you prepare and serve her. She is eating much better now than she was when she was alone in her house. She cannot shop for, plan, prepare meals, and clean up after them. You guys take care of that. A regular kitchen would be a dangerous place for her. 2) Safety and security. She is much better off at Charter with the manned front desk. She would not be able to stop intruders at her house, wouldn't know what to do with salesmen (see telephone) and generally would not be safe or secure on her own there. 3) Contact with others. She interacts with others at meals, when her room is serviced, and when the nurses and doctors come. She sees and talks to folks much more than she was doing when she was alone at Underwood, this is helpful in so many ways. 4) Phone management. The front desk does a great job filtering incoming phone calls, screening solicitations and other pests.She was writing significant numbers of checks to folks based on phone pitches....we have stopped that. She doesn't miss writing those checks. Thank you!! 5) Daily/hourly medical supervision. In addition to falls (she has fallen a couple of times since arriving at Charter and had taken a number of falls before the big fall that landed her in hospital/rehab) she can not manage her medication by herself. Alone she would be at risk both of forgetting meds (she forgets everything and denies needing any meds) and also of overdosing. Traveling to dr. appointments is dramatically reduced (doc and nurses on staff) which is a huge help for us. 6) Assistance with hygiene. She requires help/reminding with bathing and sometimes with toileting and is looking cleaner, more presentable, more dignified. Thank you Charter for the peace of mind you have given us.

Charter of Williamsburg was the best place for my father. They are short staffed (like everywhere else) and no where is perfect, but the staff here are very friendly, caring, and encouraging. The floor nurses always took time to answer my questions and deal with my concerns. All staff, from the receptionist to the dining room workers, know the residents (and their families) by name. I can not say enough about Melanie, the activities director. She plans the nicest things for the residents from luaus to campfire cookouts and also local day trips for those that wish to participate. The enclosed court yard is beautiful and allows residents to go outside at their leisure. The small size and square design is great for residents to navigate without getting lost or "going down the wrong hall." My father was only at Charter for 2 1/2 months before he passed. However, in that short time, the staff and other residents became like family to us. Of course, I miss my father every day, but I did not realize I would miss the residents and staff so much, as going to Charter had become part of my daily routine. The staff at Charter Williamsburg will always hold a special place in my heart.

Its not too big and not too small, has a great "home" feel like with the community and the staff. It's also one of the more affordable Assisted Living communities in the Williamsburg area. I have a great Aunt currently living at Morningside of Williamsburg and I recently went to visit her for the first time while I was in town. I could not believe how amazing the community was. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by staff and directed to my aunt's apartment. She was currently in the dining room, eating lunch, and I was impressed to see the Chef, come out to make sure everyone was doing ok. I got a chance to speak to some of the staff and found out that a great amount of them for there for over 10 years. They were familiar with the residents and their individual needs. It was the highest quality care, I could have ever imagined. What put it over the top was the family friendly envir onment they create, They offered to serve me lunch with my great aunt and informed me about the private dining opportunities. All and all such a great experience!

Through my former job as activities director for a local senior center, I was familiar with many assisted living facilities in the area but not Morningside. Since Morningside is close to home, I checked it out when my husband needed more care than I could provide at home. I looked no further after being here. He has a lovely room facing the atrium. He is allowed to have a birdfeeder and flowers in the garden area a step away from his door. He felt at home from the start. The staff is excellent. He has made friends and feels comfortable here. I was able to get a good sense of Morningside when I attended their Valentine's Day event. They chose a couple to be the King and Queen for the night. It demonstrated to me that the staff went to great lengths to ensure that the resident's have entertainment and activities to fill their day. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere as well. The staff that I spoke with were very welcoming and I left with the impression that they were committed to provide the highest level of care. I'm looking forward to returning in the future.

Well, what can I say? I've looked at a few places for my dad when he gets to the point that no one can take him anymore. And this place is tops on my list. First off, the staff I dealt with are great. The way some employees there speak with me and reach out to help me make decisions is unsurpassed--it's almost like they've known me for a long time and really care about what's going on with me and my family. The facilities are also impressive from everything I could see, the staff must be dedicated to maintenance and safety. You always hear horror stories of the nasty and unclean conditions that pose a risk to patients, but not here. No metaphorical (or literal) banana peels to slip on and break a hip. I'm sure my dad could fit right in and might even feel like he's on vacation.
