I want to give a heartfelt shout out to our administrator (Shelley Johnson), our front desk team member (Kendra), and our Activities Director (Emma) for going above and beyond during my recent medical emergency. Shelley and Emma even took the time to drive after-hours to my medical appointment when I needed it the most. Their kindness, compassion, and willingness to step in during a critical time means more to me than words can express. Thank you, Shelley, Emma, and Kendra for your outstanding care and support. I’m truly grateful for everything you did for me. You made a difficult situation much easier, and I’ll never forget your generosity.

My mom is receiving great care in the second floor memory care unit. It is small and quiet. It is the perfect place for her at this stage. Rosalyn and Yolanda did a wonderful job bed bathing her and putting on moisturizer. I thought she came out of a spa. The rest of the staff is equally caring with her at this difficult time while she is bed bound.

I stayed here for respite care. This facility is clean, smells lovely, and provides exceptional care!! Kendra at the front desk is knowledgeable and always willing to assist! Even the food is good. Look no further for great care!! My favorite aides were on different shifts, so I always had someone to talk to!! On 7-3,Dana was amazing and on 7-11, Marqui was incredibly helpful!! I love that the administrator, ShelleyJohnson, was always visible in the facility and available for conversation. The director of wellness, Darlene Baldwin, was also visible throughout the facility and is accessible to patients. All in all, my stay was pleasant and I would definitely return if needed. I highly recommend this assisted living facility!

As a healthcare provider, I often get a behind-the-scenes look at the facilities I visit. I have the opportunity to observe how staff interact not only with residents but also with other members of the healthcare team. My experience at The Berkeley at Short Pump has been nothing short of positive. The staff genuinely care. I've seen firsthand the warmth and respect they show to residents and to one another. Their kindness and attentiveness help create more than just a place to live ” they’ve built a real community. You can see it in the friendly smiles, in the way they respond to needs, and in the positive atmosphere that surrounds both staff and residents. I’ve had the pleasure of joining in on activities and getting to know some of the residents myself ” and it’s been a truly rewarding experience.

I am writing to share my deepest gratitude and thanks to two very special people in my mother's life. I could easily write several paragraphs, and each deserves their own call out. But because I always referred to them as the 'dynamic duo' and the 'dream team' I feel it appropriate to say Georgina and Miss Frances could not have been more dedicated, caring, and devoted to my mother. I cannot say where they draw their energy from, and how they do what they do day in and day out, but they were always there for "Jo Jo" (a nickname they gave her!), especially at the end. In fact, Georgina sends us pictures and kind thoughts still, which has been so special as our family mourns our mother's passing. Thank you both Georgina, Miss Frances, and all of the staff in the memory care unit at Vitality West End!

My stepmother fell, breaking her hip. The hospital sent her to rehabilitation that also provided care for dementia patients. My stepmother also has dementia. After being in this rehab center for a 2 weeks, she wasn't getting better, she was fading away. When I spoke with Dawna, the marketing/sales manager, I asked her if we could move my stepmother in the very next day(normally takes a week or so) and she made it happen! My stepmother has been at Vitality for 5 weeks and she has gained 8 lbs and has settled in well. Dawna can make things happen! I feel like they saved her life by allowing the emergency move in. It is sad these facilities get such a bad rap. Yes, things aren't perfect but if you see the other places... this is a retreat.. the staff is very caring in memory care.

The staff at Vitality were outstanding in their care for my Mother. She recently passed away, but everyone at Vitality did a great job in caring for her and keeping her comfortable during her stay, particularly during the last several months. I never had an issue with staff or management. I would highly recommend Vitality to anyone looking for dependable, quality care that they can depend on everyday.

Our family recently faced the challenging task of relocating my father to an assisted living facility following a fall at his independent living facility. With numerous assisted living options in RVA, we embarked on a thorough review process, and our journey led us to Vitality Living. From the moment we stepped into Vitality Living, Dawna's warmth and accommodation stood out. She not only understood the urgency of our situation but also demonstrated genuine thoughtfulness towards the specific needs of my father. Our positive impression continued as we had the pleasure of meeting Joe, whose level of accommodation and thoughtfulness mirrored Dawna's. Vitality Living itself exceeded our expectations. The facility is impeccably clean, well-maintained, and filled with active and evidently content residents. The commitment of Joe, Dawna, and the entire Vitality Living staff to go above and beyond was truly remarkable. Their collective efforts made my father's move-in process not only smooth but also filled with a sense of genuine care. Though our time as part of the Vitality family has been relatively short, the most crucial aspect is that my father is genuinely happy and receiving the support he needs. This, in itself, speaks volumes about the quality of care and attention provided by Vitality Living. We are grateful for the exceptional experience and peace of mind they have brought to our family during this transitional period.

From our initial visits to the move in and for the first months of residency, working with Brookdale West End Richmond's excellent staff has made the assisted living transition easy for my mother in law and our family. We have had an absolutely positive experience from the moment we walked through the doors to the lovely main floor living area. The personal attention of Shauna and her staff in answering questions and assisting with the move has been impressive. The program manager, Emily, is energetic and knowledgeable and has a real gift for working with older people. Her sense of joy and excitement is contagious. When we visit, we are warmly greeted and feel very welcome. Thanks, Brookdale and your entire staff, for a job well done.

I visited Brookdale West End several months ago and I was very impressed with the facility and the staff. I was looking at options to place my mother and decided to start here. Setting up a visit was easy and the tour did not seem "staged" or anything like that. I meet with Shauna at the arranged date and time and she walked me through the facility, introduced me to several residents, and we discussed options for my mother. Shauna was easy to speak with about issues facing my mother and sincere about helping me find the right options/fit for her. When I finished the tour I could not help but say I personally would be very happy if this was my home when I needed assistance later in life. The facility was very clean, the residents seemed very well cared for and happy, and the staff was very nice. I also really liked the location of this facility (lots of trees in a quiet neighborhood). While my mother has not made a decision about moving yet, this facility is surely a top choice for me.

Really nice open floor plan here. Clean facility and very friendly personal. Would recommend visiting.
