They were good for a few months. Then they were short handed in memory care 1 person on weekends didn't have time to care for all of them in there. Neglect, pressure sores and much more. They talk the talk but are different behind your back. Don't trust them. They also took money out for the last month my loved one was not there even when they are the ones that broke the contract. Watch out your loved one is not safe their. I don't want this to happen to anyone else's loved ones. They also tell you they do crafts back in memory care 6 months no activities and bad communications between staff and the workers. I trusted them boy was I wrong. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Extremely short staffed. Memory care patients are neglected. Residents are fed horrible food and KOOL AID as drinks. (Plenty of proof of above claims). My grandma was left to sit in soiled undergarments after a stomach bug to the point of sores on her bottom. Wrong medicine is being handed out and the staff claims they cannot take temperatures or blood pressures. Supposedly they do not have doctors on call either.... at a nursing home.... Staff is INCREDIBLY rude to residents and family. Yesterday my grandma was left in her room until 11am before my mom got there and went to find out why she hadnt been given breakfast, just to be told they were too short staffed and busy.... Hospice was involved and pushed to get my grandma moved ASAP. This place is absolutely appalling. Avoid at all costs

I have stopped by there last year just to check it out with a lot of other places. When my mother is ready to sell her home and finding another place to call her home, this will be the place. Although I have only been here 17 days, I feel at home. Everyone on every level is kind, happy and very helpful. The duck pond is so relaxing just watching the baby ducks swim around. I really like it here. I think anyone would.

Thank you Prairie Hills for arranging and helping out with my dads 85th birthday party. My parents LOVE being residents there and the added attention to detail by preparations for the community room was so appreciative. Prairie Hills Des Moines is a beautiful building in a nice quiet neighborhood that is managed by one of the best management companies. It is located on the south side of Des Moines and has a lot of trees and the most beautiful courtyard around. The staff has longevity and welcomes all residents as family. Absolutely a 5 Star option!

We have had nothing but great experiences with Prairie Hills! We recently moved my father-in-law in and the whole process was so smooth. I cant thank Robin enough for always being available and understanding of our situation and working with us around our hectic schedule. The staff seems so friendly and caring. The buildings interior and exterior is beautiful and kept very nice, the whole place has a very welcoming feel to it. I would definitely recommend Prairie Hills!

Prairie Hills is a wonderful place for my mom. They are so compassionate and caring and offer lots of fun activities. My mom was never one to participate in anything but shes been to the weekly coffee club and enjoyed Christmas carols already. The staff truly strives to offer the residents improved quality of life. Moving Mom to Prairie Hills has been a real blessing and offered such relief to me and my family. I would recommend this assisted living facility to everyone.

As an employee of Hospice of the Midwest, our organization has assisted in caring for several patients in Prairie Hills. Every single experience has been outstanding. The staff here is compassionate, knowledgeable, and truly dedicated to needs of their residents and families. We continue to witness firsthand the care provided by the Prairie Hills team on a daily basis and residents are genuinely treated like family. I would recommend this community over and over again.

My Aunt lived at Prairie Hills for the last year of her life. The staff became family and the facility was her home. The residents are friendly and staff welcoming. I know that the last few years of her life were the happiest we could ask for because of the care that she recieved at Prairie Hills. Every time we visited she was busy with different activities offered. She was able to stay mobile with the help of staff. They were able to allow her to stay in her home at Prairie Hills till the end with the outside services of hospice. The communication with the nursing staff was open and informative. They were available anytime we had questions. The support the community showed our family even after my Aunt passed away was amazing. I am so glad we found Prairie Hills and am in debt to them for the happiness they brought her. Thank you all.

I have been to Prairie Hills on multiple occasions. Once to meet with the marketing director for information about the retirement home and for a tour. I dropped in another time for their open house and met the executive team and of the staff. I have also been there for a guest speaker and interacted with some of the residents. The retirement community is clean, staff is friendly, and it seems very secure and safe for residents. They have had a few face lifts to the grounds since their new Director started and it shows! Its a hidden gem for anyone looking for a community of love to care for their family members, just on the south side of Des Moines. Its also reasonably priced!

When it came time to move my mother from her apartment to an assisted living facility, I began investigating what was available in the Des Moines area. After researching other facilities, we felt Prairie Hills was the best fit. The facility is very impressive as is the staff. My mother is always telling me how much she loves living there, how great the staff are and how good the food is. This brings great peace of mind for me as I know she is being well taken care of. Mom has been living there roughly five years and has no desire to move, she is 97 years old and wants to live out her days where she considers home. The best thing I can say is that this is where my wife and I want to live once we are unable to stay in our home.

I have worked in the Assisted Living and Long Term Care atmosphere for years and must say it is difficult to find a facility that not only provides great care and activities, but also is a beautiful facility. I recently moved to community based work and placed a client of mine with Dementia at this Assisted Living Facility and couldnt be happier with the environment. This facility is beautiful inside and out, provides great care to their residents, has many activities available and works hard to get their residents to participate, and has phenomenal meals.
