I have been my mother's caregiver for 13 years since her dementia diagnosis. This was identified as Alzheimer's four years ago when she began living with me full time. I spent several years looking for a long term facility for her because I didn't want to be caught off guard if something happened and she needed placed. I didn't want this important decision made in haste. After visiting more than a dozen facilities in the valley I selected Pacifica. I tell you the background because I have read several reviews not all good about the facility and I feel it's important give perspective. In addition to my research and visiting the facilities around the valley, my father was in three different facilities before he passed. What I have learned and I believe families should be aware is no place is going to feel perfect. No place is going to be as good as your loved one with normal health or brain function and living in their own home. So it's important to look for a partner in your care. I am beyond grateful that I found Pacifica. Although it's only 4 min from my house I would not have known about it without Care Patrol who let me know they had Alzheimer's cottages. From the first visit I felt heard, understood and respected. When we have had what I call "growing pains" them learning my mom, them learning my expectations and me learning their abilities and goals for mom, the executive director and departmental directors have had their doors wide open. When there have been challenges there has been a very lovely word - "yes" that they use in order to make sure we find a way to make the situation better. I love that my mom still has dignity and privacy in the cottage. I love that the little things to make her room a home have been met with a yes. I think the cottage based system should be the future for Alzheimer's. I have not seen a cognition based system implemented as well as it is here. My mom is very high functioning and so are the peers in her cottage. But I have the peace of mind knowing when she does need more help or loses her ability to communicate etc that there is a place for her on the same property in another cottage. Stop and see what I mean for yourself.

In July, I unexpectedly was thrown into the world of memory care assisted living, and for those people who have had to experience this, it can be greatly overwhelming from the hospital to the behavioral health center to finding a safe reliable memory care assisted living facility that actually had an opening. Luckily, we found Pacifica Senior Living Paradise Valley and was able to place our loved one here. We have been with Pacifica Senior Living for three months now. They have been and are still fabulous. Everyone we have been in contact with from Admin, Nursing, caretakers, maintenance, and front office are always pleasant. They meet our current needs and have demonstrated they truly care about their residents and the family of the residents. Truly a 5-star facility.

Warning, I would not do business with this location. My mom was a resident there due to some complicated elder abuse issues I had to become my mother's Guardian/conservator. Because of this it required me to complete documents with the court pertaining to her care, a lot of these documents had to completed by the doctors and staff at the care facility. Last year I had requested the documentation from them and called them multiple times requesting that they complete it because I had to get this done for the court and multiple times (over 15) they ignored my request. It was so bad that the attorney we had hired withdrew himself from the case because we could not get the documentation from the facility. This cost us 1000's of extra dollars because we had to hire a new attorney with a new retainer and all. It also got me in trouble with the court because it was a required yearly document. Finally, after almost a full year after initially requesting the documentation, my sister was able to get it from them. My siblings told me to let it go because the nursing staff and her care was good, which I did. Sadly, about a month ago my mother passed away literally 2 days after the care facility charged us the full month when my mother had died on the 3rd of the month. We inquired about this, and the director told us that normally takes a month for a refund to be resolved but given the circumstances with the court she would see what she could do, and we could expect to hear from her within 7-10 days. Two weeks went by, and we heard nothing I placed a call asking for a return call checking on the status as we were trying to avoid this going into the next year's accounting which would cost us $1000's more in attorney fees three phone calls made not one return call. Then I spoke with the person in the office who was "in charge of the financials" I explained that we had spoken with the director, and she said she would check on this and we would hear something from her within 7-10 days and we had heard nothing. The lady had the audacity to say, "Well that's a lie." I told her it was not and that was what we were told. An argument ensued with her constantly talking over me, telling me I did not know what I was talking about and being very rude. Multiple time I requested to speak with the director to which she refused and then hung up on me. I called back the same "finance person" answered I requested the number of the corporate office which she refused and hung up on me again. I called back a third time the reception answered I asked for the number for corporate which she started giving me until I could hear the "finance" lady tell her to hang up on me. I emailed the director requesting that she personally call me, and she did not even do the courtesy of a phone call she emailed back and played it off like it was no big deal and gave me no resolution. This place has zero organization, zero communication skills and zero empathy. I would be very wary to place any loved one there especially given the fact that is expensive. The only reason I gave it two stars and not one is the nursing staff is attentive and they physically took good care of her.

We made the difficult decision to place my mom here two years ago. Prior to placing her we toured at least a dozen other facilities and this was by far our favorite. The residents seem happy and the staff seemed to genuinely care for the residents. My mom has dementia but is relatively young and physically healthy. All she wants to do all day is walk. And borrow other residents stuffed animals. The staff gives her the freedom to have her quirks. The first six months she refused to sleep in her bed. They allowed her to sleep on the couch in the common area and would cover her up once shed drifted off. We soooo appreciated the kindness they showed her. They recognize the residents dont always think or behave the way the rest of us do and the are accommodating to every residents special needs. The grounds are setup to enable this more open and free environment. The residents can roam between two cottages and get plenty of exercise and social stimulation all while being safely fenced in. The staff is excellent. There have been times when I havent been terribly thrilled with the attitude of a staff member here or there but they dont last long. Its clear the leadership cares about the quality of their personnel. I really have nothing but positive things to say. My mom is loved and cared for by committed staff. Five stars without hesitation!

I cant say enough good words about Pacifica Memory Care! We have an unusual situation in that at that beginning of the Covid lock down, the home my husband was in for less than a month closed, and I had to find a new place for him. Of course he was free of the virus and Pacifica took us in during this difficult transition. He went from being at home in my care, to two different places in less than a month. Pacifica has been great! they keep me informed and have worked with us in getting my husband settled. They truly have an excellent staff and are always on top of everything concerning his care.

I am so lucky to have found Pacifica for my mother. I had looked at a few places and was very disappointed in what they offered for my Moms care. Then I walked into Pacifica Memory Care and I was enchanted by everything they showed me. I knew this was the perfect fit for Mom. She loves the big porches, trees, walkways and garden setting. It has been 2 years now and we both love the staff, they treat Mom with great care, the food is very good, my Mom and I love going on their special field trips and we love the once a month family dinners. I feel she is in a safe place and she agrees with me. This has been the best decision I have made for my Mom. We both say thanks to all the staff for their loving care.

I had to assist in finding my nana a place to go, she is 86 years old with Alzheimers, and was having trouble living at home. I was referred to Pacifica and I have had nothing but great experiences with them. They have been so helpful, caring and compassionate to my nana. They treat her and us like family and I am so appreciative of the love they have for her. If you need somewhere for an elderly family member especially who needs memory care, this is the place to go! Thank you so much to the staff who helped us through the transition and beyond.

This place is great! They are located near our home and this year we attended their Easter party. It was a lot of fun and we had a great time interacting with the residents! The residents played with our kids and it was a truly fun experience we also developed friendships with new people which was also great. The ladies there took turns holding our baby and feeding him delicious snacks which of course he loved!! Thanks Pacifica!!!

Pacifica Senior Living Paradise Valley is such a one of a kind place! The way theyre set up to feel like a home and everything is so personalized for each person. The staff and office management are so helpful and wonderful they go above and beyond to make sure the people are loved and well cared for. If I had dementia this is a place I would want to be.
