My wife and I began our search for a suitable Independent Living Facility (ILF) about a year ago. We visited eleven communities within a twenty-five mile radius of our home, knowing from the start that we wanted a place offering on-site Assisted Living and Memory Care. Avoiding future relocations was important to us, and we hoped to find a community that could support us through every stage of aging. We were especially attracted to newer, well designed facilities”places with tasty food, attractive and reasonably spacious apartments, strong physical wellness programs, and meaningful social opportunities. And, like many fellow seniors, we had to balance these preferences with our financial limitations, making cost an essential part of our evaluation. After extensive research, side by side comparisons, and multiple thoughtful conversations, it became clear to us that Somerby Senior Living in Sandy Springs offered the best combination of services, environment, and long term support available in the marketplace. We made our decision and moved to Somerby one month ago. Now, with a month of lived experience behind us, we are even more convinced that Somerby stands apart from and above its competitors. Our three bedroom apartment is comfortable and well appointed. The food is every bit as good as promised, and the programs and services are thoughtfully designed and professionally delivered. Most importantly, both residents and staff have been consistently warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. I just visited a friend’s mom here, and got a tour of the whole place. It’s really lovely! Feels recently renovated, has great common spaces, all kinds of amenities including a beauty parlor and modern gym, and the apartments are spacious. Best of all, the front desk staff is super warm and inviting, and they really care about the residents. Really impressed!

The Somerby community has been a very good option for our family. The staff tries very hard to meet the needs of all the residents, and all of the staff have been very kind and considerate. There are lots of activities to take advantage of if the resident wants to participate and the staff try very hard to encourage those that may be a little hesitant. Kendra has been very supportive to receiving feedback and acting on improvement opportunities. Last, but not least, the food and restaurant style service is very good!

Kendra is amazing !!! She’s was very helpful with the move in of one of my residents. She was very responsive with any questions or concerns me and the family had in a timely manner and has a great welcoming spirit. Sylvia was also a big help!! From printing things needed, making sure meals got in for my resident to that great and pleasent smile she has when walking thru the front doors. Somerby over All is a great facility beautiful inside and out. Walking into the building gives a great sense of comfort, wonderful lighting and beautiful all around. My resident absolutely loves staying here. I would recommend very highly!

Moving a loved one from their home is always challenging but the incredible staff here has made it so much easier. The front desk staff are always cheerful with a greeting and a smile (Chris, Gail). There is no one more energetic and helpful than Kendra! She always has an answer to any (and many!) questions. Her smile and laugh can light up anyone's day and she genuinely cares about everyone in the community.

My close friend lived happlily in the independent living part of Somerby for 1 year and 9 months after selling her home. Everyone there was very warm, welcoming, and helpful. The kitchen staff was willing to work with her very restrictive diet and she enjoyed and thrived with the pshysical theragy offered. She loved being dropped off at the front door, even though it was farther for her to walk than going in the back door, just to say hello and stop to talk to the person at the front desk. People knew her name and greeted her like family. Her apartment was perfect for her limited mobility and amazingly quiet considering it looked out onto the expressway. It was cleaned once a week and someone did check on her when she didn't press her button by 11:00 am. When she passed away, the business department patiently waited for their final paymnt, which was mired in probate issues, and didn't try to add on extras. They were always kind and helpful. Somerby is a lovely place and we highly recommend it.

The directors ,everyone in the business office are on everything to the a detail. Good customer service. They're always having activities , special things going on in the community. If you visit Somerby, you will know why I fell in love with it. Somerby Independent Living is the sunniest, wide open, multi-windowed and high ceilinged retirement communities I visited in the greater Atlanta area. Truly every staff member was smiling, friendly, and willing to help. Every level of care I might want as I grow older was right there. And best of all every activity that I might want to do at this moment is there. It goes without saying, my sales representative, Maureen Roth, went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect and ready to go for my move in!

Everytime I come for a visit to see my grandmother in memory care, the receptionist are always so rude.(it’s always one of these two ladies with short blonde hair) No greetings and they won’t even open the door for me to get in memory care. Saying I have to ring a bell when most of the time it takes forever to open the door. This is extremely unacceptable. It’s been happening this past month or so. It’s usually so pleasant.

I moved my mom in August 2020 Independent living. She loves it and has a group of friends she eats with and plays cards, goes on bus to outings, close to everything, including doctors. Staff is so accommodating and if anything is going on with mom, communicate with me timely matter. I definitely now don’t ever have to worry mom is enjoying life and no longer have to worry about her!

Beautiful community with amazing residents! I have had the privilege of providing physical therapy services to hundreds of residents in this facility over the years. I have also been able to connect with staff and view their efforts. While this industry naturally has some turnover, I have always been impressed with Brent, who has been a mainstay in this community for years. I am constantly greeted with a smile by Gail at the concierge desk, and so are the visitors and residents. Ricky with maintenance is excellent. There has been a recent uptick in dining services with the arrival of Michael. The Executive Director, Clint, is visible throughout the community and receptive to the residents. I have worked in several retirement communities throughout my career, and while they all have issues, this community is the best one I have worked in. I recommend families consider this as an option for their loved ones.

I have a client that I care for in Somerby for some time now so I deal with the staff for many concerns and questions. I have to say that everyone there has been wonderful and very helpful on so many levels. It shows as well with the residents because when I go in and walk down the hallways everyone that I encounter is cheerful and smiling. The facility is beautiful and always clean. I have been very impressed with Somerby and trust me I see many facilities that aren’t this way.

We moved in a year and half ago and were very impressed at the beginning. Since there have been so many changes and none have been for the better. Starting in the dining room. Directors have come and gone, food is tasteless and Cold. Last nite we waited 65 minutes for our food and I am diabetic. NO SERVERS AND CNAS want to help but are told they can’t. Over 5 week’s popular desserts have been out, food is tasteless, chicken and fish are the mainstays, Mail: what would be so hard to have a basket on the nurse’s stations for outgoing mail so residents don’t have to go downstairs, especially when they need assistance AMAZON: they should be delivering on assisted side where it is easier for residents to get instead of going over to other building or relying upon someone to bring it here days later. Small gift/snack room with cards, candy,chips,etc would be terrific.. It doesn’t have to be fancy or open all the time. Just a few hours a few days a week. Suggestion box outside the dining rooms . Everyone goes by there We pay good money to live here yet we don’t have a say in the care, situations It would be terrific to have a family meeting with the upper eschilons and listen to everyone . Ho p e to hear back about these concerns and ideas.

Over the last three and a half years my mother-in-law lived in all three areas. The staff was incredible - especially during the Covid pandemic. They handled an extremely complicated and confusing situation very well and were successful in keeping the number of cases very low. The staff took excellent care of her especially Steve Cadet, Bola, Dayo and, of course, her on-site hairdresser, Marie. Thank you for your patience and support!

My mom and dad are both at Somerby now. They have been so amazing from our very first visit to moving it. I have had several interactions with Jodi, and she is just awesome at following up and keeping in touch. Julie in accounting has also been so great. Had a little glitch this week with billing, and she let me know immediately, and has continued to follow up to make sure everything was corrected. The whole staff is very friendly and attentive. Very happy that we chose them to take care of my parents!

For such an expensive place, and the facility is lovely, my mother in law’s experience with food service has been consistently disappointing. And, amazingly with numerous complaints from residents about the food, these concerns fall on deaf ears with management.

Have had my 88 yr old Mom with Advanced Dementia in their Memory Care unit for 2 1/2 years now...makes a very difficult situation palpable. Facility top notch, staff very attentive and patient, and the food is even pretty good. All around, Sandy Doyle and the entire executive team does a very hands on job of running a very difficult and challenging business.

While this facility is attractive and the staff seems nice, I cannot recommend it because the food is so bad and the service is terrible. The dining experience is a major part of the day for senior residents and I am amazed at how poor it is. My mother was originally at the Somerby in Alpharetta when it opened. The food there was good. The menu was much more extensive, and the service was adequate. It is just the opposite at Somerby in Sandy Springs on all three accounts. In fact, I dread going there to eat with my Mother. We have complained, but it doesn't seem to improve. I would explore other facilities, before making a decision.
