We have visited MorningStar of Idaho Falls, where my wife's parents have resided, for many years and have always loved it. But recently we have moved in ourselves, for a time and place of healing, and have learned a whole new (and even better!) side of MorningStar -- one of community and caring! Both staff and residents have been totally accepting of us "odd ducks" and we have found ourselves experiencing joy and love that possibly we did not think we would or could experience again! We will relish in this beautiful community where we feel like so much more than just another set of residents! (And we just love the food here and the whole dining room scene!!!) Thanks especially to Gus and Kimberly!

I love this place I go atleast a few times a year. One issue be extra careful with vrbo I reserved through them. Never had an issue until last year we were all at the water park except for my aunt. When out of nowhere a man walked into the room he had a key. When he realized someone was in there he walked out. I called the owner he never answered one call, text messages or voicemails. Shady much?? It startled me made me realize this is something he was aware of and maybe gets card number or something from other renters. I let front desk know snd all they said is we will let the owner know let me know the name. How? If the issue is with the owner all I was trying to do was warn them. I asked if they could watch the video and they said not without owners permission okay seems like he could get away with anything. Scary!!! I haven’t risked going back since.

My hubby has been in the Reflections section of MorningStar since July 1. He had a very bad fall to recover from, as well as mild dementia. Nicole and the staff in Reflections have taken wonderful care of him. Lindsey in the admissions office took a lot of time with us to explain his care. She even helped furnish a room for him! He is comfortable in his room, and has found some kindred spirits among the other residents. Everyone at MorningStar has made us welcome despite the restrictions of Covid-19. Lisa helped us with getting some papers notarized. The staff at MorningStar have taken a lot of stress from our family. I can’t imagine a better place for my hubby to recover from his injuries. Thank you!

The care given to my mother-in-law was very good overall. She lived there for nine months before going to her permanent home of heaven, with her best friend and Savior, Jesus. The only complaint I have is that at times it seemed like she didn’t get care when she needed it; and I believe that was due to the lack of enough help. But, for the most part, the staff showed compassion and loved her. Nicole was great. Barbara truly cared. Mom loved attending the Bible studies. Hospice did a fantastic job. The chaplain Danny was very nice. The other thing I liked about MorningStar-it smelled clean! I recommend this facility and believe the staff tries very hard to love, serve, and give to the residents. Mom appreciated all she received. Love you mommacita!

Overall, we were happy with my mom’s care at Morningstar. She lived in Reflections (memory care) for 9+ months. The nurse, Melanie, was very attentive, compassionate, and loved my mom. The manager, Nicole, was very professional, a good communicator, and cared deeply about my mom. There were several caregivers my mom, and I/my husband, really loved! They went above and beyond and truly cared. Elysia, Barbara, Virginia, Jo, to mention a few. We appreciated their care. At times, the extra fees were annoying (cat fee), but the director (Suzanne” awesome!!) helped us find outside help. I just felt some things (extra fees we didn’t know about, bad attitudes, commitment to following through at times) could have been more God honoring as their mission statement says. As a CNA, I appreciate those who took care of my mom with love and compassion..... not just for a paycheck. They went above and beyond! Attitude is everything. Some had a good work attitude, some did not. The former activities director, Lucy, was amazing!! Missed her. Sage was a blessing as well” but she was in assisted living, not reflections very often. Laz and Dan, maintenance guys were superb!! Overall, my mom was well cared for. Once she went on hospice, which was such a blessing, she went within 5 days to heaven” her permanent home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus. The hospice nurses and chaplain were amazing!!

MorningStar has been a God send for our family. We had no experience with full time care facilities and unfortunately went through a nightmare ordeal with our first facility attempt. Knowing we would need to find a better home we began our search. We were so surprised to find this amazing place right here in Idaho Falls. The staff is not only capable but also carries a huge level of compassion. My dad is so much happier as they keep him engaged with others and continually give him opportunities for activities. As hard as it is to have to put my father in a home, Morning Star has made it the best experience possible.

I was presented with a difficult decision seventeen months ago. A decision that involved my active, independent aunt who was suffering from memory loss. My aunt lived in Boise, Idaho and could no longer take care of herself. She was no longer safe. My family and I decided that she would need to be moved closer in order for me to take care of her. I began my search for a facility that would give her the care she would need. I visited several other memory care facilities in the Idaho Falls area. I also talked to friends who had to find such care for their love ones. The conclusion was to place her in Morning Star. I found the staff to be very kind and supportive of me during this difficult time. Realizing that his change was hard for her and me. My aunt had many ups and downs before she was able to accept her new residency. She struggled with changing her clothes, anger and routine. My aunt enjoys her time at Morning Star and tells me of the kindness they bestow on her during the day such as the snacks, playing bingo and them asking her to help with simple jobs such as placing flyers in envelopes for them. All of these activities make her feel valued. She likes their food but is afraid it is making her fat. I have visited her at different times during the day and have always found her to be clean, happy and talkative. The staff makes me feel welcome by calling me by name. She and I particularly like the fact that she goes on outings in the community. I have found the staff to always tell me when my aunt is running low on supplies so that she is never out of the things she needs. When I call an hour to 30 minutes a head to alert the staff that I will be talking my aunt out of Morning Star for an errand, family gatherings or doctor she has always be ready to go. Until recently access to my aunt was always easy but because of carelessness of a few, family members are no longer able to let themselves in they must wait for a staff member to open the door and at times that can be long due to other duties the staff members must attend to. I would recommend Morning Star for anyone who was looking for good quality care for people suffering from memory loss. Their compassion is genuine and appreciated by those who are suffering with the gradual loss of someone they love. I give Morning Star a five -star rating. Laura Tavenner

It was a difficult decision for my sister & I to transition our sweet mother to a memory care facility after taking care of her for 7 1/2 years. We experienced a prior facility and then chose to move her after 7 months. After a lot of prayer & research, we chose MorningStar Reflections Community. There has not been one day that my sister & I have regretted that move for our mother. To feel joy in our visits with her & our interactions with the staff there, has been an incredible blessing in our lives. When thanking Barbara, one of the caregivers for her attention to detail on behalf of mom, she replied, This is her last HURRAH! We want to make it special for her. We have loved this attitude. The staff is so upbeat and friendly...always. If we have ever had an issue, it is immediately addressed & happily taken care of by the staff. Nichole has been a wonderful Director. There are lots of windows & light & bright art work & smiles & activities galore. Lucy has been an incredible Activity Director with her never ending energy & laughter & smiles. Her creative activities & art projects & outings that give the residents fun things to do & to see, even when they sometimes can’t remember moments later what they had just experienced. The meals are very tasty (yes, we have experienced some of the meals ). They are given a hot wet cloth with lavender to wash their hands with before each meal. They are physically shown two plates of food so that they can chose what they would prefer to eat, and if neither one was desirable they could chose from a large selection of menu items. They are served hot & tasty meals in a restaurant setting in a beautiful dining area with windows & a lovely view. The aroma in the facility is often that of freshly baked bread or cookies or cakes. And other times a nice chemical free oil diffuser of some kind that is not offensive when breathing it. We are so happy that mom is in an invironment that is so stimulating & active & positive & concerned about the welfare of that community. We feel so comfortable when visiting mom & interacting with those there. It is a place of happiness & being alive. Happy that it isn’t a facility of the living dead & living dead caregivers. When slips or mix-ups do occur (and that is part of life in any residential setting), I have found all the staff prompt and non defensive, quick to address whatever change is needed. My assessment is based on a walk through I conducted in July of 2018. I spoke with a couple of residents and several staff members. The residents were extremely happy to be there and the staff members could not have been any nicer. Margie from the dining room was particularly sweet and helpful. The facilities were extremely clean, serviceable, and attractive. There was a gym, multiple dining rooms, a computer room/library, two theater rooms, a salon, game room, and much more. I saw three vans of varying sizes used to transport residents. I am definitely recommending this place to seniors looking to make a change.

This facility is amazing! My mother in law is living there and the staff and the facility are the best. She started our in the area where you take care of yourself and after a year we had to move her to the assisted living area. They have been great to work with and have been very accommodating. They have a beautiful player piano in the lobby and they don't cut costs to make the place like home.

My father has been a resident in the Reflections area of MorningStar for the past 6 months. Moving an elderly parent from their familiar surroundings is very difficult. My father was welcomed with love, compassion and excellent care from the staff. The staff at Reflections have ALWAYS been kind, patient, loving, helpful and cheerful with all of the residents and their families. I have been so impressed with their positive attitudes in all situations. They also provide great activities, entertainment and outings with their focus on the personal interests of the residents. Because I work with Hospice, I am in and out of many facilities. Morningstar is one in my favorites. The staff is friendly and efficient and willing to help however they can. The kitchen has a homemade feel to it with a Catering attitude. When considering where to place a loved one, it is wonderful to talk to a person every time you call the facility and recognize the same staff members, for you can then develop a quality relationship with them. Their personnel is alway on hand and their excellence stands out even within my field.

We had my father in Morningstar Senior Living for exactly two years, Feb 2014 to Feb 2016. We had chose this facility do to many things. My dad loved the look of the building inside and out. We also liked that there was not an odor that hit you as soon as you walked through the doors. The room was very well taken care of so we were able to make it look like you were walking into his home. That was very important to him since he had just lost his wife. The dining room and food was a main part of his decision too since he has always enjoyed good food and having many choices. We ate their many times too and never had a bad meal. The staff was beyond courteous, helpful and friendly. The special occasion meals and get together with families was excellent. The outings and programs the staff had planned was something my father loved to join in with the other patrons. He looked forward to ball games, sing alongs, sightseeing, programs and any other activity. He did not join in any of the in house movies, card games because he prefered watching sports on tv. The nursing staff and the caretakers did a fantastic job. My father needed all his meds given to him. With his confusion he had a hard time following the times to be given. The staff followed the given time limits for the meds. He never went without his medication. We never saw any of the staff treat him with disrespect. It could have been easy to do since he had such bad headaches he would be very grouchy. They made him feel like he was such a special person to each one of them. He talked very highly of the care he was given, showers and any thing else he needed was handled very professional and with care. The last week of his life he knew each one of the staff loved him. He was taken such good care of. Never a moment went by that his needs or ours were not taken care of. We would definetly recommend this living facility to everyone we know that needs an excellent home life in their later years. The entire staff has earned our respect. My 97 yr old mother said she would never go into a senior care living facility. 4 months later in the care of Morning Star she says these people are great. She loves them and they love her. I I'm in constant communication with my mother and the Morning Star staff. The staff is very responsive and takes care of all my mother's needs, both physically and emotionally. I have evaluated most sr care facilities in SE Idaho and rank Morning Star right at the top. Mom's visitors feel the same way. Morning Star has approx 4 different levels of care and I would recommend that anyone seeking Sr living facility to take a close look.

My mother has been in a very fragile position with fainting spells and other medical issues that have been a challenge to deal with -- and I must say that Nicole and her team have been superb in dealing with my mother and all the changes. For example my mother was admitted to the ER at the hospital on a Sunday morning and when I arrived at the ER Nicole was there making sure she was being taken good care of and answering the questions so she would get the proper treatment. She and the nurses at MorningStar have been great in communicating with her doctors to assure good care. We have gotten to know the staff on the Reflection side of MorningStar and see that they have shown genuine care and concern for the residents. Their normal response time to my mother's needs is excellent and the conditions and food are very good. We would highly recommend MorningStar for any senior adult needing this kind of care.
