UPDATE to review done two years ago. I cannot say enough about Heritage Waterside . They are truly a family, my family and my mother’s family . She is currently in a rehab center due to some medical issues. Three of the MedTec’s came to visit her on their own time. So did the director of activities. I have been in constant contact with Mary, the Executive Director . All I can say is that Heritage is there for you , and your loved one - in any circumstance. THANK YOU HERITAGE - you are all amazing !!!! My mom has been at Heritage exactly one week. It took months to move her from an assisted living in another state due to one medical issue after another. Mary the executive director worked with me for months. Before mom arrived Mary was literally under the adjustable bed I bought trying to make it work! She knows every resident and is always kind and helpful. Like Mary , all of the staff from the housekeepers, med techs, and restaurant staff are kind and caring. It shows that attitude comes from the top down. Mom feels welcomed by all of the staff and the other residents. The building is beautiful and fronts the intercostal. It is also immaculate. My moms walker broke my flip flop and I was forced to walk without my shoes to my car. My feet were not a bit dirty. There are three doctors to chose from and they see her in her room. . I am delighted that I found a home for my mom and not a Facility. So this is an update two years after I wrote this review. My mom has called her Heritage her home for the last two years. Nothing about my previous review has changed in fact, Heritage has become family, the caring staff is evident from the housekeepers to the dining room to the med techs to the laundry room and the kitchen. Most importantly, I feel that my mom is safe, and has family surrounding her, even though I live close by and visit often. I am comfortable, leaving for vacation or for work trips, knowing that she will be cared for by people who love her. Thank you, Heritage, for all that you do and for creating a family And for treating my mom with respect and love.

My 102-year-old mother (Frances) moved into Heritage Waterside in November 2024, and she has now happily celebrated both her 103rd and 104th birthdays here. At 104 years young, she is thriving and genuinely enjoying life to the fullest ” and I truly believe the warm, family-like environment at Heritage is a major reason why. As a retired Nurse Practitioner who has visited countless senior living facilities over the years, I can say without hesitation that Heritage Waterside outshines them all. From the moment we arrived, the staff has treated my mom ” and every resident and staff member ” like true family. That genuine care and personal attention is evident every single day. Her studio apartment is kept spotless with weekly cleaning and laundry service. The food is fresh, delicious, and top-notch. Weekly outings (to places like HomeGoods, Bealls, Dollar Tree, and various restaurants for lunch), lively Bingo games, Happy Hour with live entertainment, wine, beer, and snacks ” all of it adds joy and engagement to the residents’ lives. On-site doctor visits, a full beauty salon, manicures, and pedicures make life convenient and pampered. And the gorgeous view of the Halifax River from the property is truly the icing on the cake! I live just 3 miles away, so I visit at least four times a week. The Alexa in Mom’s room allows me to drop in and see her face-to-face anytime, which gives me such peace of mind. Plus, her alert necklace ensures help is always just minutes away. I tease my mom all the time, saying, Mom, you're like the Energizer Bunny! If you keep going like this, I’m going to have to get the adjoining room next door to you soon! She just laughs ” and thanks to the incredible staff here, she really does keep going strong. What truly sets Heritage apart is how deeply they care. I’ve witnessed the staff going above and beyond time and time again, treating every resident with dignity, respect, and real affection. at family feeling isn’t just a slogan here ” it’s lived out daily, and it’s making all the difference in my mother’s golden years. If you’re looking for a luxury senior living community where your loved one will be cherished like family, I cannot recommend Heritage Waterside highly enough. We are so grateful to have found this special place. Thank you, to the entire Heritage team, for everything you do!

Moving my in-laws to Heritage was the best decision! The staff is amazing - caring, competent and compassionate. The director has created a wonderful culture centered around love and family. They love to celebrate everything and everyone and have created a joyful atmosphere. There’s a saying that you can’t make everybody happy all the time but they will always try! And the location is perfect with spectacular views of the sunset beyond the river and if you’re lucky enough, there are rooms with balconies and ocean views. Best. Decision. Ever.

I stayed for one month and this was my third visit for a respite stay. I like the food, especially the salmon, catfish, lasagna, omlettes, pancakes, and other food. I had a studio apartment on the first floor and it was very quiet. Heritage sits on the Halifax River which is very picturesque with beautiful sunsets.

As someone who works in healthcare, I realize the care you receive is only as good as the people who provide that care. The people Heritage Waterside are exceptional. The property is clean and beautiful, but it’s the people that truly make it what it is. When we needed to find a place for our father my family saw many places that left us feeling the spectrum from depressed to reasonably comfortable. When we met the family at Heritage Waterside, we knew we had found a home for our father, not just a place for him to live. And I did not expect to find that anywhere. I say family because that’s how it feels there. Mary is the director, and she made us feel completely comfortable and truly informed about the care my father would receive because it’s obvious that SHE CARES. There were questions we had, as many people must, about being able to care for our father as person who is sometimes independent and values that, sometimes not, and sometimes completely dependent on help. I have confidence they will honor our father’s independence whenever possible and provide complete assistance if needed. What I felt is that Heritage is a place that truly honors the person, not just the care plan. They personalize care, routines, dining choices, and social activities. They celebrate individual life stories. A 104-year-old resident having lunch stopped to tell me, it’s wonderful here, your father will love it! I believe her as she looked so happy and comfortable herself. In fact, all the residents looked that way. They were happy and relaxed. Mary shared with me that any staff they hire must have love and compassion in their heart to work there and they must show patience, dignity, and empathy at all times. From what I have seen, that permeates throughout the building. Cathy is the head nurse. She is fantastic. We talked for quite a while. Darrel is Cathy’s right arm and he was wonderful. I met a few other nurses, and they were joyful. Everyone was great. We even got on with the maintenance head Eric, and he was a pleasure to be around. We have just gotten started and we already have relationships with the people at Heritage. I am so happy and relieved we have found this place.

Live here! My 91 year old parents say they are going home when they are out of the house. This after living for 46 years in their house. Enough said? (They moved here May 2025.) I had a job finding senior housing so I know Heritage is exemplary. And Heritage has the safety of independent living, assisted living and memory care so we have the reassurance that our mom can stay there if her forgetfulness gets to be too difficult. But right now Heritage allows our dad to live with Mom in independent living. Besides that the staff are good people ED Mary and onsite (!) nurse Cathy have expertise during care meetings get on the phone calling their contacts to, for example, move my mom from the hospital back home. You will benefit from having a doctor make weekly visits to residents who need him and Trilogy nurse Sandy make visits as needed for ex wound care and PT. Heritage even has a therapy room for this and scheduled exercise activities like ball toss and Zumba. Heritage has a back patio facing the river. They and we enjoy sitting there with the view.

From my friend... I would rate this place a 10+ in all areas. From administration to nursing to reception to activities to dining services to maintenance to housekeeping to laundry, our expectations were exceeded. The entire staff works together as a team and certainly fulfill the saying together. Everyone accomplishes more! From the moment I walked into the building the first time unannounced to gather information. There was an immediate, warm, caring and cheerful feel. Moving was very smooth and easy. On the first day, every and I mean every staff member knew our family member's name and addressed her by her name. In my opinion there is no better welcome than that! Staff is out and about interacting with the residents and always very accessible. The food is delicious and there is something for everyone in the way of activities and musical programs. The outdoor courtyard is lovely with lots of flowers and greenery and a fabulous view of the river. It is a great area for walks, talks or quiet place to sit in bird watch. We moved to Heritage Waterside at the end of April 2025, after three years of research and onsite visits to several of these types of communities. We were primarily looking for two standards -a safe environment with excellent medical services as we aged and compassionate, caring employees. We found both in abundance at Heritage! A kind, respectful mindset emanates from the top of an organization and Mary, Executive Director at Heritage instills that in each and every person working here. From the servers in the dining room, to housekeeping, activities, maintenance, nursing and medical techs, one would be hard pressed to find a more thoughtful, attentive staff! They have become family’! All meals are prepared for us by great chefs, our apartments are cleaned, laundry washed and folded on a weekly basis. Multiple activities are provided including outside trips stimulating the mind, as well as the body! Physical and mental safety is a critical issue as we age and safety is of prime importance here at Heritage Waterside. The bathrooms all have multiple bars to help with unsteadiness, and if help is needed there is a pull cord that activates an immediate response. Residents who need it are equipped with an alert necklace for assistance. We could not have asked for more! And the icing on the cake is the setting! Sitting right on the Halifax River, we can enjoy sunsets on the couches near a firepit, watching the boaters glide by and the pelicans flying overhead! We love it here and recommend it highly!!

After living on the ocean on a condo for over 30 years, independent and full of pride for such a gift of a lifetime, I was filled with thanks to my children who could see that I was beginning to need assistance. Before we met for our family meeting, I contacted a placement counselor to discuss where I could change residence, absolutely not senior living. She named some facilities around and I told her definitely not. I lived on the ocean and it was a part of me. As far as I knew, there was nothing available on the ocean. I needed to live on the water. When she shared that there was a facility on the Halifax River I turned on a dime. I totally released my stubbornness and opened my mind to the fact that I could be happy elsewhere. I shared the fact with my children that we all agreed living individually would best suit everyone, so they supported my decision to leave condo independence to senior living independence. Within two weeks I moved to Heritage Waterside over one year ago. I experience total relief of responsibility of everything but myself. I needed to change my style of living, and Heritage Waterside on the Halifax River was perfect for my needs. This is home to me. Residents are like family. The senior living offers all I need like I never imagined. The staff and team members are always available and willing to provide the needs that in my elderhood are realistic. Everything I need is available when I’m humble enough to ask. I am grateful in my new home.

My mom has been part of the community at Waterside since April, 2025. I have been so impressed with the facility, staff, and leadership! Mary is a wonderful administrator who has developed a strong culture of caring. When Mom first moved in, Mary said, Your mom is part of our family now. I was skeptical after the negative experiences we had at a different facility where my father lived. During the time Mom’s been there, I have found Waterside to truly be a family environment. The facility is beautiful! Mom has an incredible view of the river from her room. Her room is comfortable and looks like a nice hotel room. The dining area feels like your favorite restaurant. There are also other cheerful rooms for card playing and movie viewing. The residents are very friendly and welcome new comers with open arms. I met Mom’s new friends on a recent visit, and they are all wonderful people. They really seem to care about each other. The staff are tremendous. A physical therapist discovered Mom had pneumonia and quickly referred her to a doctor. As I walked through the building with Mom, all staff we came in contact with knew Mom’s name and asked how she was doing. There is definitely a culture of caring throughout Waterside and such a positive vibe. Mom’s only regret was that she did not move in sooner! I am resting much easier knowing that Mom is in great hands.

We took my wife's mom to visit this wonderful facility. The director, Mary, could not have been any kinder or more informative. The staff were very friendly, every one we encountered spoke to us. This place is really a community and family of residents. Super clean, very organized, and a beautiful place. The "restaurant" serves three meals each day and the selections are many, chef prepared. I'm not "ready" for this place yet but I certainly would love to live here!

Looking for the finest care for your loved ones? Heritage Waterside is the place to go. My dad has been a resident there for almost 2 months. He's 96 and is enjoying his independence, living in such a wonderful environment. He calls it the SS Heritage because it reminds him of being on a cruise ship. Mary Noss the executive director is a GEM! I went to visit the facility on a Sunday afternoon without an appointment. Mary was at home on her day off. One of the sweetest residents was sitting near the front entrance and told the staff member to show me HER apartment after she overheard I was looking to see a one bedroom. I was given a wonderful tour and was told to call Mary before I left. I didn't want to bother her on her day off, but they insisted. I sat for 20 minutes in my car, talking to a true angel. Mary listened to my concerns and assured me THEY would be the best place for my father to thrive. I met with her on Monday and took my dad with me. We had a thorough tour, a DELICIOUS lunch in their dining room with a view of the intracoastal, met some residents who welcomed us with open arms, and were introduced to many of the staff members who my dad would come to love in record time. My dad who had been living on his own and still driving at the age of 96 had his world ripped out from under him after falling in his home. He has worked hard to get his speech, fine motor skills, and ability to walk again restored, which is nothing shy of a miracle. Our second miracle was finding Heritage Waterside where he has been able to go back to his independent living status with the help of his in- house physical therapy and the fantastic care he has received in his new home. BRAVO to Mary and ALL THE STAFF!!!!! Each and every person he is in contact with on a daily basis is helping him live his best life. If I could rate them as a 10, I would still give them an 11.

Placing someone you care about in a facility has been one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do. It was stressful and overwhelming. When it was time to choose a place, Heritage stood out. In fact, I had three appointments scheduled with Heritage the first visit. I went to the second facility and immediately cancelled the third. We knew without a doubt that Heritage was the place. Mary, the director, is so wonderful. She takes the time to see you and explain. You feel at home. The staff are wonderful. The facility is beautiful and clean. The food and kitchen/wait staff are all wonderful and go above and beyond. There is something always going on as far as activities and things to do for the residents. And, of course, it’s on the river with beautiful water views. Sunset is gorgeous. You can sit on the dock or in one of the many seating areas to watch it set. I am so glad that this is the place for my friend!

Last summer, my then 92 year old Dad requested I see if there were any vacancies at Heritage Waterside for him. Only living about a mile away, he had heard only good comments over the years about the facility and he was ready to make a transition from living alone in his townhome after my mother passed away four years ago. From the moment I met Director May Noss and the other assistants, I could see why Heritage Waterside has the great reputation that it does. The place is immaculate, the staff is super friendly, the food is delicious and the events scheduled for the residents (and their families) are fun and creative. There are many other amenities I could mention all of which make life at Heritage Waterside a wonderful luxury home for a loved one! They made the transition for my Dad a welcoming one. He soon found himself making new friends, attending recreational classes and enjoying his new forever home. Living in Fort Lauderdale and not being there for my Dad every day, I am so happy to see and hear how happy he is with his new life. When leave him after a visit, it is a comforting feeling knowing he is in good hands and surrounded by people that really care about his health and well-being. We have been so impressed with the care provided to my father-in-law since he moved in 2 1/2 months ago. Everyone from the Director Mary, the healthcare providers, the dining and kitchen staff, the housekeeping staff, and the maintenance/technical staff, have gone out of their way to help him settle in and get comfortable. There has been full, open communication and all of our questions are answered quickly. The food has been very good with choices available at lunch. When dad has not felt like going down, they bring meals to him and they have even given him meals and snacks at off hours. We have witnessed the staff’s care of people who need additional help. They even gave guest suites available at a reasonable rate for visiting family. Our son stayed there and was very comfortable. I think those bad or mediocre reviews must have been before the change in management staff.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! My Mom has now been at Heritage Waterside for a year. She wasn't thrilled about moving here at first because she didn't want to leave her friends back home, but my Mom needed help with her medicine. Mary and her team at Heritage Waterside made the move as easy as possible. They allowed us to make major changes to the room we chose for my Mom (knocked out a wall, added a closet) and were so very welcoming to my Mom. The maintenance team is excellent and any maintenance requests are handled promptly. Darrell, her main med tech contact, is outstanding! I live up north, so when I come visit, I actually stay in my Mom's room for days at a time. This allows me to get a really good feel for daily life at HW. The actual facility is beautiful and very well kept. The med techs on her floor are caring and helpful. The ladies at the front desk are lovely. The servers are kind and considerate and the chefs prepare very good meals! My Mom uses Kelly, the beautician, for haircuts and manicures. Kelly is friendly and very caring. Being able to schedule an appointment with the facility Doctor, who will come to my Mom's room, is also very helpful. The Physical Therapist will also come to the room or my Mom will go to their office on the ground floor. There are activities available and outings to local shopping areas. The housekeeping staff keeps my Mom's room clean and her laundry is washed once a week. I am highly pleased and know that my brothers and I made the right decision to bring my Mom here. My older brother lives 10 minutes away, so that was also a deciding factor. My Mom now really likes it at HW and has made some nice friends. Of course, no place is perfect and there have been some minor areas of concern. What I can say, is that Mary and the staff have always been receptive to concerns and/or constructive criticism. They have listened and done their best to make improvements when able. Overall, I am very comfortable with the care my Mom receives here. Even in the one year she has been here, my Mom has needed to have extra care. I really like that they offer the ability to help my Mom age in place. The staff here shows loving concern to the elderly in our society. I see that in the care they give to my Mom. I'll finish this review how I started - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Heritage Waterside!!

My 79 year old brother is looking forward to moving in this April. About a year or more ago we visited 5 facilities in Florida. My brother was not quite sure about moving from his apartment in a senior community to independent/assisted living. Now after having a health issue from covid, and a stint in rehab, he is ready. Mary and her staff stood out from any place we visited. The vibe and the acumen and concern and personal attention was what we felt and noticed. And my brother is a foodie, and he gave high praise and a thumbs up only to Heritage Waterside. And lastly, he always dreamed of living by the beach and now his room will have a beach view and the beach is only blocks away.

My Mother-in-law has lived at Heritage Waterside since February of 2020. This is a wonderful place that cares deeply for all their residents. From the Nursing Staff to the Cafeteria staff everyone is caring and helpful. My Mom-in-law is very happy there and tells us that she feels loved. Heritage Waterside is like a dream come true! Everyone that works here truly care. Very Clean!! So many activities! The dining room is like a fancy restaurant! We spent many weeks touring facilities. No place was even close to this. We almost didn’t come tour because we thought it was going to be way to much money. PLEASE be sure to GO TOUR!!! The prices were very much lower then you would think. We were shocked that the prices were much less than some of the other not so nice places. We are so happy we chose this place for my father in law. We are very picky and involved with the care of him. We are very comfortable and know he is safe here. The maintenance is top notch! They do laundry and the clothes are folded perfectly and shirts hung and even buttoned on the hangers!! Bedding is always fresh and the room cleaning is done and always perfect! They check the trash cans every day!. The chef and meals are like a restaurant! The nurse Michelle is very caring! The one thing that stood out when we first moved him in was all the employees knew his name. Mary the Executive Director is like family now. She goes out of her way to help with any and everything. It doesn’t matter what day of the week or time of day she always always returns calls or is available when you need her. We have been here since July 2023. One more thing all the other residents here all are happy . This place does NOT feel like Assisted Living it feels like HOME. We love Heritage

Absolutely the best and most caring staff you will find!! No need to look any further. After touring the facility, which is outstanding, and meeting many of the staff, we decided Heritage Waterside was going to be mom's new home. Mom's move in date was several weeks away. Unfortunately, before mom was able to move in, she had an incident and her move in was going to be delayed weeks and possibly months until she recovered in rehab. I reached out to Mary, the Executive Director and let her know the sudden change of plans. She was very understanding and compassionate and we agreed to cancel the move in and restart the process at a later date. Mom needed rehab to get her back on her feet. Because of Mary's compassion and kindness she showed us when we first met, I felt I could contact her for some advice for some care mom needed. She immediately responded and treated us as if we were family members. Mary and the staff at Heritage Waterside went far beyond anything I was expecting. On our behalf, they made phone calls, contacted doctors, nurses and other facilities. We are absolutely blown away by their kindness and willingness to ensure mom was going to get the absolute best care she should. Mom isn't even a resident, yet they went above and beyond to help us out. This is who they are at Heritage Waterside - wonderful, caring, compassionate folks. Rest assured, your loved ones will be well care for at Heritage Waterside. I look forward to the day mom can leave rehab and experience Heritage Waterside. Thank you Mary, and staff!

Heritage Waterside is the best assisted living facility in Volusia County. My step mom has lived there happily for three years. The management and staff are so caring and attentive to her needs. First I would love to start off by saying Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mother's at Heritage Waterside. I was able to see how compassionate my wife and her team were this weekend for the heartfelt families who were struggling with their loved one being sick on this Mother’s Day ! She and her team worked daylight to dark to make sure that the residents who are sick are cared for in the most caring, loving, and compassionate way. For those families looking for a place for your loved one I personally do not think that you will find any other facility to care for your family member the way the staff at Heritage Waterside does. Her team work’s 24/7 to make sure that every resident is taken care of to the point that even when they are off they are brainstorming on better ways to do things. You will not find a team out there that has the hearts that this team has. If you want your loved one cared for Heritage Waterside is for you. All the departments from dietary, housekeeping, maintenance, activity department, reception, Wellness staff and the business office work together to make sure everyone is cared for in the most respectful. way- All I ever hear my wife say is you better treat our family with LOVE and COMPASSION! Our mother has stayed at Heritage Waterside for a few years until recently, when she had to be moved to long-term care. We cannot say "thank you" enough for the love and care they provided for mom while she was there. Mom wanted to stay in FL while we were in NC. The distance was challenging but she was happy in the warmer climate. The staff treated her like family. And when we visited, we could see how much they cared for her. I was well guided by Desiree Vilanova in choosing Heritage Waterside for my aging parents’ assisted living residence. The facility is very well managed. My questions and requests are answered quickly. The COVID-19 pandemic has been expertly handled, with precautions proactively put in place. The residence is very attractive in a beautiful setting, kept immaculately clean by caring staff. My parents have been pleased with the quality of meals served. I am pleased with the degree of safety assisted living has provided my parents. While they lived independently in their own home well into old age, they became less able to manage activities of daily living. Their decision to move to Heritage Waterside has met their needs and enabled my family to better care for them and enjoy with them this time in their lives.

Heritage Waterside has been a blessing for our family and I can’t recommend them highly enough. When my 96-year-old dad started to fall and need additional help in his day to day activities, a friend recommended the Heritage. Dad was reluctant to move (probably due to a preconceived notion of what assisted living facilities were like decades ago), but once he took the tour and saw his unit, he embraced every aspect of AL. From the staff, who truly care, the meals in the restaurant, and all the activities, they make every resident live a life filled with dignity and independence in a safe environment. We couldn’t be happier!

Heritage Waterside and its extraordinary staff earned this 5-star rating. They wisely guided my family to help us make many hard decisions on behalf of my mother. Seven weeks after mom’s arrival, I am happy and still confident with our decision to move her into Heritage Waterside. I have reflected many weeks on why Heritage Waterside is so exceptional and came up with three reasons. First is the leadership. With a cadre of 5 to 6 senior employees, this organization is well trained and has hired remarkable people who are ready to go above and beyond in helping their residents. Second is the genuine sense of community between the staff and the residents. It is truly a joy every time to hear my mom so exceedingly complimentary about her daily interaction with one of the employees. The staff models patience, respect and kindness and upholds the dignity of all the residents. More than once, I have asked myself where do these incredibly good people come from? How did management find this caring talent? Third is quality. Heritage Waterside is top notch born of high standards, attention to details, and quality training. The facility is beautiful and integrates gorgeous views of the Halifax River. The rooms are spacious, and the amenities and planned activities approach those of a cruise ship. And then there is the cuisine superb! The chefs and wait staff ensure gourmet eating experiences. Again, it is a joy to hear my mom praise the delicious dining. I know this is a long review, but I must share one last perspective told by one of the care providers. She said she is still learning, but three things she knew with all her being are: God is good; this place is safe for your loved ones; and the people who work here will do their very best to take care of the residents.

Top shelf assisted living facility! My mother is one of the original residents of Heritage Waterside, moving in shortly after their opening in July of 2017. My family and I looked at approximately 35 facilities before deciding on Heritage Waterside. I’m an engineer and pilot, so I focused on the design, layout, and safety features of the facilities as well as the level of care my mother would receive. The structure was built to withstand up to a Category 3 hurricane with back-up generator in the event of power failure. (The facility evacuates well prior to any hurricane because of its location on a barrier island, but it is reassuring to know that if an unforeseen hurricane like Charlie in 2004 pops up, the residents and staff will be safe.) There are very few soft surfaces to trap odors, so the facility looks, feels, and smells as clean as it actually is. It’s obvious that the facility was designed, from day 1, to be a first rate assisted living facility to cover the spectrum of residents who need little to no care to those who need round the clock care. It is close to Daytona Beach Shores EMS (with Ponce Inlet as a back-up) should that service be required. Conveniently located to many medical and dental offices as well as shopping and restaurants. The Director runs a tight ship and that is reflected through every department from Wellness, to Dietary/Food Services, Activities, Custodial, and Maintenance. Believe me, that is exactly what you want in a facility where your loved ones reside. Heritage Waterside’s response to the COVID pandemic has been nothing short of exemplary. It was rough not being able to enter the facility during the State mandated lockdown last year, but since family and contractors have been allowed back in, their protocols and procedures have kept COVID out of the facility. I’m not sure what more you could ask for during unprecedented times such as these. I’m at the facility nearly every day and do my best to keep a close eye on all things related to the care of my mother, as well as any negative or positive trends I might notice that would affect the future wellness of my loved one. I try and learn as many of the staff members names and faces (more like eyes and hairstyles now while everyone is masked up) as I can. I’ve read some of the earlier, negative reviews on here. It’s not hard to discern that they are from former, disgruntled employees or contractors. As I stated earlier, the Director and Wellness Department, run a tight ship, which looks like it may have hurt some feelings. But, you have to ask yourself: Would you want it any other way when it comes to the care of your loved one?. I know what the answer to that question is for me and that’s why my mother has lived there for over 4 years. I highly recommend Heritage Waterside Assisted Living Facility for yourself or a loved one.

Heritage Waterside is a blessing from God. From the moment we stepped into the beautiful lobby and met with Corey and his staff, we knew our mother would be in great hands! She is being cared for by people who genuinely care about her well being which is why she is getting physically and emotionally stronger everyday. My mom has been a resident for almost two years and my family and I feel very confident that she is in a safe and caring environment. The building is spotless, modern, and dare I say cozy because it is a medium size building so the residents and family members are on a first name basis. My mom lived in an ocean front condo before needing assisted living and this location is perfect for her. The view from her unit looks out over the inter-coastal waterway and the building is just one block from the ocean in a lovely neighborhood. We toured at least 6 assisted living facilities in the area and this one just felt right to us. Almost 2 years later I can whole heartedly say we all feel the same. I highly recommend Heritage at Waterside.

As a retired nurse, I was diligent in researching and visiting assisted living/memory care facilities in Volusia county for my mother for 6 months. My criteria included safety, compassion, cleanliness, and good management. 14 months ago, in the height of a pandemic, my family knew where mom needed to go when she was no longer able to live alone. She has adjusted and blossomed into a social butterfly! The director at Heritage Waterside has formed an amazing team of respectful, compassionate caregivers, for all levels of employees. He has made careful, well thought out decisions to keep our vulnerable loved ones safe throughout the challenging phases of this prolonged pandemic. The residents have a wide variety of activities to choose from, and are encouraged to try new fun things to do. The beautiful waterfront facility enables all to enjoy the wonderful weather year round. It is very helpful to have onsite beauty salon, physical therapy and visits by medical physicians. My mom has made many friends at Heritage, including both residents and staff. Heritage really is creative with new activities to keep things interesting and fun. Another wonderful aspect to consider is that this facility is Transparent, with open communication! That is absolutely critical for family members. It is very hard to move your parent out of their home into any facility, but it is heartwarming to know that our family made the BEST decision where mom should live! Heritage is always clean, with no unpleasant odors, ever. The building and grounds are beautifully maintained. Their Facebook page of thousands of photos lets family members see all the FUN too! Please include this terrific facility in researching options for yourself!! Thank you, everyone at Heritage Waterside!! I am so very grateful.

My parents moved into Heritage Waterside in December of 2017 after my father suffered a massive stroke and required more care than we were able to provide for him. I am extremely overprotective of my parents and will admit that I was looking for something to complain about when they first moved in, but I have been nothing but impressed with the facility, and even more so with the staff. In November of 2020, my father broke his hip and spent almost 4 months in a skilled nursing facility. The staff at Heritage constantly asked my mom about him and always made sure that she was ok. In March, we brought my father home and he passed away 3 weeks later. Cory Shank, the executive director, was a huge help in the process of setting up nursing care to bring my father home to my house. He did not know for sure if my mother would return to the facility after my father’s death, but still went above and beyond to make sure she didn’t have to worry about anything there and could focus on my dad during his remaining time. He made these decisions with my mom’s best interest at heart, not some bottom line. To Cory, his residents are family, and this is what he models for the rest of the staff. Since my mother doesn’t require assistance with her daily living, I hoped for her to live with us after my father passed. I quickly realized that I could not provide what she really needed, which was the socialization and activities she had with all of her friends at Heritage. She has been back now for a couple of weeks and is surrounded by the love of the staff and residents. She’s right where she needs to be and I can feel comfortable knowing she is loved and cared for. After over 3 years of experience with Heritage, I would still give them more than 5 stars, if I could.

Heritage Waterside is a hidden gem we discovered after searching through many others. A wonderful place at reasonable cost. My 98 year old mom is well taken care of and loves the place Their care givers are warm, caring people, especially the Executive Director, Cory Schenk, who is on call whenever you need him. Their level of care is more than just assisted living. With a call button around her neck, my mom gets immediate help anytime for anything, night or day. Giving us all piece of mind. Being on the Inter-coastal Waterway, it’s a beautiful location. Most mornings after breakfast they’ll take residents down onto their dock to enjoy the view. One of the many activities they offer. Bottom line, our family is extremely happy we found Heritage Waterside for our mom. We highly recommend this wonderful place to assist and take well care of those in their later golden years of their lives. God bless them P.S. Every once in awhile their folks dress up to bring a smile to everyone! Sometimes in including the residents, like my mom her on Saint Patty’s Day! (She’s really smiling under that mask!)

My father was placed here earlier this year amid a variety of both financial and cognitive struggles. Heritage waterside I have been a resident since May 2019. My stay here has been most enjoyable, being at two other locations before this really makes a big difference in what we have here. It is great to be a part of this Group especially the activities that they have; we play bingo, we do bowling on the Wii and many other activities. The bus takes us to Walmart, Publix and other activities throughout the community. There are many other things to do here we go for walks in the area, we go out on the dock on the river two or three times a week and we play lawn bowling as well as miniature golf with the activities director. The food is great and housekeeping is excellent all rooms are well-kept. There are many other things that we do here that really make the stay worthwhile. Sonny G

My husband and I were at Heritage Waterside for four months after he had a stroke and until he passed away from a heart attack. The staff and everything about the assisted living facility was wonderful. We could not have had a better or more helpful place to spend our last four months together after being married for 57 years. The other residents were friendly and interesting. The location is wonderful, a quick walk to Daytona Beach and on the Halifax River. The staff is available when needed but not intrusive. The facility is clean and the food and food service is excellent. I highly recommend Heitage Waterside to anyone needing an assisted living facility.

Heritage Waterside is an assisted living facility in the heart of Daytona Beach Shores. The building is situated on the shores of the famous Halifax river and the famous Daytona Beach. I really recommend this place for seniors wanting a luxurious atmosphere and top of the lane assistance.
