I don’t even work here and I could still tell something was seriously off just from visiting family. If it’s this obvious to outsiders, I can’t imagine how bad it is behind closed doors. The way staff are treated is honestly disturbing. You can feel the tension the second you walk in. At one point, I was told that most of the kitchen staff had either quit or were in the process of leaving, which says everything you need to know about how this place is run. Management is incredibly unprofessional. There’s constant drama, and somehow residents are being pulled into it, which is completely inappropriate. This is supposed to be a place where people feel comfortable and cared for, not like they’re stuck in the middle of workplace issues. And [name removed], she may come across as nice at first, but it quickly feels forced. There’s a clear difference between the front that’s put on and what’s actually going on underneath. It doesn’t take long to see through it. I genuinely hope I’m wrong and that this is just how it comes across to me, because I would be concerned having my own family placed in that kind of environment. Overall, the environment feels negative, disorganized, and uncomfortable. I would seriously question trusting a place like this with people you care about.

I took my mom on a tour of Merrill Gardens the other day. What a fantastic facility full of friendly staff and residents! Alyssa Dolan was our tour guide and was very knowledgeable and pleasant helping to relieve any anxiety my mom was having about the visit. I was very impressed with the amenities such as a movie theater, diner, pub, library, garden patio, to name a few. Each area was beautiful, bright, and clean. My mom met many residents while touring and they were all welcoming and complimentary of their experiences at Merrill. I can’t say anything but good things and look forward to getting to spend more time in the future when Mom joins the community.

When it became clear that my 97 year old mother could no longer live alone, we did a lot of research and facility touring to find what we hoped would be a community where she felt welcome, supported and safe. Merrill Gardens seemed to check every box, so we moved her there this past fall. We obviously made the correct decision. From the beginning, all our interactions have been positive. Allyssa and Matt were great sources of information as we started the moving process, providing information about the accommodations and services offered and answering our myriad of questions. Shireen, the General Manger, was there on move-in day to go over all the paperwork and officially welcome Mom to her new home. Mom has now settled in and we remain very pleased with the facility (its cleanliness and amenities), the staff (their receptiveness, responsiveness and obvious concern for the well-being of the residents) and its sense of community. Jillian, the Resident Care Director, has been most helpful. She met us on the first day to evaluate Mom’s care needs. Since then, she has overseen Mom’s medical care (which has changed during her short time at Merrill Gardens), keeping us informed and continually in the loop. Jillian responds to emails and phone calls promptly and is someone with whom it is very easy to communicate. And her staff of nurses and aides are awesome. Malayna, the Senior Business Office Director, has also been a wonderful resource, helping us navigate this new world of assisted living, and long term care claims. She too is always ready with answers, either by phone or email. And the rest of the staff, from aides to the front desk folks, to maintenance and dining personnel, all appear care for the residents. If you’re seeking a welcoming community, Merrill Gardens is well worth a look.

Both my parents resided in this community for a number of years and it was perfect for them. They had lots of friends and activities, they even got my mom to visit in Alpaca Farm. The staff is friendly, supportive and available. They provided my mom so much support when my dad was sick and finally passed away. My mom continued to reside in this community after my dad died and it was a blessing to her. Both are now gone but their lives were so much more enriched by being at Merrill Gardens. I would highly recommend this facility to anyone who is looking for a place for their parents. Thank you to the staff for all their support.

While looking for a place for my dad I visited a number of places but stopped looking when I visited Merrill Gardens. I met with Alyssa Dolan, their Community Relations Director, and she was wonderful at making me feel welcome and giving me a tour of everything Merrill Gardens has to offer, which is a lot! We had to get a bridge loan to get my dad in quickly and everyone from Alyssa to their corporate employees worked with me and the loan company to make things happen when they needed to. Perhaps the most important and satisfying thing is how much the employees care about the residents. They go above and beyond to make sure my dad is treated well and that I am informed of any changes with my dad’s health and well being. I would highly recommend visiting Merrill Gardens and meeting with Alyssa Dolan if you or a loved one are searching for an assisted living facility.

Alyssa was wonderful - she led us through two separate and comprehensive tours of the community and patiently and completely answered all of our questions. After touring Merrill Gardens in WC with Alyssa, it became evident that this lovely community would be the perfect fit for my father and his needs. The community is a perfect size with many first-class amenities that clearly set it apart from other retirement communities in our area. But the most notable (and most important) factor was the kindness and friendliness from all the staff we encountered. We moved my father from his beloved home into Merrill Gardens a few months ago. Change is hard, no way around that. Thankfully, the entire team at Merrill Gardens understood this and were extremely supportive and communicative throughout the process. The 'neighborhood' feel with the brick hallway, diner, movie theater, pub, game room, and post office was unlike anything I've ever seen in a senior living community. Garden House, Merrill Gardens memory care unit, left a lasting impression on me. Theresa and the entire staff were absolutely remarkable. After doing his research, meeting with Alyssa for a tour and having lunch my father decided that this was the place for him. My sister and I set up a tour and Alyssa could not have been more amazing. Marye Independent Living July 5, 2024 It is one year ago this week that I moved into Merrill Gardens of West Chester. I wanted a place that fit all my criteria. I wanted my physical surroundings to be friendly, pleasant, and warm. Having worked in the medical field, I also placed safety and compassion at the top of my list. And I especially wanted a staff who respected me and genuinely cared about my needs and wants. In my search I thought I might never find such a place. However, I found Merrill Gardens. When I moved into my new space, the staff were welcoming and helpful. My apartment looks out on a lovely garden that the residents of the Garden Club maintain. I have met many of the residents while at mealtime, activities, and bus trips to local stores. I am content here. I am relieved I do not have the responsibilities I had in my former home. I laugh more now. I am surrounded by people, both residents and staff, who are happy. My family and friends remark about how attentive the staff are. I am realizing that all the research I did to find the right place for me paid off. This is my home now and I am very happy and fortunate to be here.

We have had a very positive experience moving my Aunt into Merrill Gardens. After issues with her previous community nearby, we had to move her right away and Alyssa was as responsive as I could have hoped for. We recently toured Merrill Gardens for a family member who had a quick change in condition. Thankfully, Alyssa was able to schedule us almost immediately. I just wanted to thank Lynn Walsh for her assistance and care with getting our mother moved into Arbour Square. We had to move our mom while she was out of state due to an injury. Lynn couldn't have been more helpful from participating in conference calls with the family, being involved in the family group chats, giving property tours to not just myself but several other family members and making sure that everything was perfect for our mothers move. My grandfather went from being discouraged about the move to senior living to completely enamored with his new apartment. His kids laugh that he’s basically chasing them out the door so that he can get to dinner with his friends. He loves that the staff know his breakfast order and it’s hot and ready for him when he arrives. My son is a huge fan of the arcade room and is trying to master Ski Ball. That area is such a gift to families with young kids who might be nervous about seeing their loved ones in a new place.

I can’t say enough about this place. It has so much to offer: movie theater, pub, game room, diner, store, hairdresser, great nursing staff and social workers, and more. Everyone is so friendly, even the front desk welcomes you. A big shout out to Lynn Walsh who has gone above and beyond to make accommodations for my father in law! I almost wanted to move in myself!! Dad is very happy and loves watching the planes take off and land. Dad also raves about the food and coffee. It is comforting to know he is in good hands. The price is right too.
