I want to commend the staff at the Commons recently for thier kindness, understanding, and patience in discussions with me around the care of my Mother. Mom is 89 years of age, relatively independent, clear minded, and entertaining the thought of transitioning to an assisted living facility in the EG area. Although I showed up unannounced for an initial visit, Karen Wood, the Director there was wonderful...she squeezed me in and gave me a thorough tour of facility, discussed the many amenities (which are wonderful) and showed me the apartments for the residents. The facility is beautiful. Its clean, well appointed, plenty of activities and staffed well...however, what really struck me was was the time that Karen took with me during my visit, the kindness she extended and wealth of information she shared. Subsequent phone calls have been helpful as well. We're still in the discovery process, but I am confident that if Mom decides the Commons is where she wants to be, she'll be in the best of hands.

My dad has been living at The Commons in Elk Grove for five years. He started in assisted living and transitioned to memory care over a year ago. Even though it is heartbreaking to see your loved one decline physically and mentally over time, I'm so thankful for the wonderful and caring staff at The Commons. Their friendly, knowledgeable and caring demeanor has made this health journey with my dad much easier to bear. We visit multiple times a week but it's so wonderful to know that, when we can't be there, he is safe and well cared for. The Commons is one of the most incredible communities I have been a part of. My family and I had a loved one reside there; she was so well taken care of that we couldn't ask for anything better. The staff was on it with her medications, if we asked for help they came immediately, very frequent check ins, delicious food, so many amenities and activities, and all the genuine care and support you could ask for. Even coming back to say hi 1.5 years later after our loved one passed away, they still remember her and us. It's the most heartwarming community out there. I highly recommend The Commons over and over again.

She offers warmups to prepare us to exercise and then exercises that address the major parts of our bodies. We stretch our muscles and move our bodies while remaining in our chairs. My father moved to The Commons about 7months ago and we both love it! My dad can be very stubborn and rough around the edges but every single staff member meets him where he is and treats him with respect and dignity. They go above and beyond to help him and ensure he is receiving the best care possible. I feel so secure knowing g my dad is there and being taken care of. The rooms are nice and clean and the food is great too. They have many community events and always welcome family. It’s a warm and caring environment.

"It feels like home" is what I think every time I walk into the lobby of The Commons. The facility is bright and clean with a cheerful reception area. Karen, the Sales Director, is so helpful and has vast knowledge of the Senior care industry. I've met many of the dining room staff and they are super friendly and helpful. Chef Michael has tasty daily specials and there's something for everyone on the menu. The Commons is a very good neighbor to the Senior Center of Elk Grove. They support the center's fundraisers and activities, with Karen going a step further by connecting her resources to the SCEG. There's always something going on at the Commons, stop by and check it out.

We had the best time visiting The Commons today for lunch and tour. Everyone was friendly, warm and invited us to their facility as if we were family. Chef Michael made us a delicious lunch assisted by Sam, Joli and Amy Karen gave us a tour and the rooms were clean, bright and spacious for assisted living They have everything..a library, movie room, hair and nail salon , areas to watch TV, play cards and bingo!

I highly recommend The Commons! I had some great help with referrals for places to tour for my mom and this one hands down stood out to my husband and I immediately. It felt like a home there. I made sure to watch their staff interacting with each other when they weren’t aware and they all were smiling and seemed happy to be working there. I also asked a few residents their opinion of living there when I was alone, and they all told me they loved it. Karen Wood was immensely helpful and clearly cares about her residents and staff. Since my mom has lived there, I can tell her aids all care about the residents too. She was very nervous about moving, and within a week she had a group of new friends she eats with. She really enjoys all the music programs they do as well. Sing alongs, etc. I definitely have peace of mind with her at the commons !

My mom has been a resident of The Commons Elk Grove since February 2024. From the first moment we were impressed with the facility. She moved in immediately after we lost my dad. It was a big change for her and I can’t say enough positive things about it and the staff. They made her transition to assisted living seamless. Everyone is so kind and caring of the residents. She recently joined the Inspire program with Miss Tina and has enjoyed the group activities and field trips, and rarely misses afternoon Bingo.:) It’s such a comfort to have the peace of mind knowing she’s happy and in a place where the people genuinely care about her.

I had the pleasure of touring The Commons at Elk Grove and from the moment I walked in I felt very welcome. I was greeted by friendly staff who were all smiling and happy. Karen the Director of Sales was great and I never felt pressured yet the opposite. She has a great personality and super fun to be around. Barbara the Director of Health Services is very knowledgeable and answered my questions while treating me like a family member. I was very happy to hear that The Commons does not and will not use temp agencies. This ensures that all the residents will not have the confusion of seeing new faces constantly which is a huge positive when looking for a forever home for your loved one. Aimee the Connections for Living Director was so sweet and embracing. I was very impressed with the memory care and layout. The residents were all cheerful and enjoying themselves. Aimee was happy to answer my long list of questions. I was very impressed with the activities the residents engage in. To top it off I was invited to stay for dinner which was fabulous. The menu was filled with wonderful choices and the pumpkin pie was delicious. The Commons of Elk Grove is at the top of my choices when looking for a forever home for my father.

I have nothing but great things to say about our visit to The Commons at Elk Grove. We toured a few days ago, and we were thoroughly impressed. The facility itself is homey and clean. Karen Wood, the marketing director, took us on the tour. She is wonderful, friendly, upbeat and is full of knowledge. She spent quite a lot of time with us and didn't rush us through at all. She was very informative. We were interested in Memory Care and Assisted Living. We really were impressed with a program they have there called INSPIRE. We also talked to Barbara, the RN for them, and she answered questions we had about healthcare. She has many years of nursing experience, and she was very helpful and very qualified. If you are looking for a great place for your loved one or even yourself to live, I highly recomment the Commons of Elk Grove.

Here's a 5 star review from someone who did NOT pick The Commons. Why? Because their team and product are awesome. We ultimately went a different direction because of location closer to our family. They couldn't have been more professional in giving us information, not being pushy, and realizing there are a lot of factors that go into choosing a place. We visited the Commons at Elk Grove facility today and were impressed from the minute we walked in the door. This place is very inviting, with a beautifully designed reception area and the dining hall, with cathedral ceiling and chandeliers, and pleasant fresh scent in the air. This gives you a feeling like you are in a nice hotel. Very impressive. We met with Karen and Michael to discuss the available options. Both of them were super helpful and professional. Karen went above and beyond describing all the services available to the residents and showing us several rooms. We were also invited to stay for lunch. The lunch menu had multiple options and the dining hall looked very nice. Overall the facility looked nice and clean, and all the staff we met were helpful and friendly.

Our experience at The Commons has been superlative. Right from the beginning with Karen Wood we were so pleased with her wisdom, professionalism, her expertise, and her humor. She is an amazing listener and took an incredible amount of time to understand the needs of our relatives who we were hoping to move there. The staff on all levels of care were incredibly friendly and professional. Watching them interact with the residents gave the place such a warm family feel. And the food was delicious! We can't say enough good things about The Commons' Miss Tina and her wonderful Inspire Club for our Mom. Mom has dementia, but still wants to experience a fun, active lifestyle. She just needed a (as we call it) "cruise director" to show her a daily fun-filled, fabulous, wonderful day in a loving and caring manner that perfectly fit Mom's desires. This is a new program, but it's been a game changer for Mom and our family. It's a unique and highly personalized program and Mom loves it! I moved my parents to The Commons at Elk Grove in April of 2024, so they have lived there for more than a year and they are thriving! Mom is reading the books in the library and has her hair done at the salon and dad likes to order the soup of the day for lunch along with his favorite spaghetti. While my parents are enjoying the food, the holiday decorations and the field trips, I have the peace of mind knowing they are in a mini "blue zone" or "safety bubble." I believe the overall success of this assisted living facility is directly related to the Executive Director who has a "Heart of Gold." The Executive Director hires the best caregivers, nurses, physical therapists, admin staff and she ensures that each and every employee has the proper training and support. Everyone is kind, caring, and they respond immediately to my requests for information (i.e. how are dad's diabetic glucose numbers? Does mom have enough Ensures?) Many thanks and much appreciation to all of the caregivers who have provided care to my parents, everything from medication management to doctor appointments. I am truly grateful.

After visiting several Senior Living Communties in the area, this is one of the nicest, cleanest and most friendly around! My first impression was it is very open in the common area for seniors to enjoy a meal and meet new friends. I enjoyed seeing how happy they are with the activities provided and how well orgainzed their entire staff appears. I would definately recommend anyone looking for a new Senior home to visit this place as an option.

This is a smaller, but feature-packed senior community. For many, the smaller size may lend to a much closer-knit community, which is the case here. Extremely clean and plenty of activities for residents to participate. The best part about this community are the staff who work extremely hard to ensure every resident (and potential residents looking for a new community) feels welcomed. These staff are truly dedicated to their jobs and take pride in how well their community shows. This is a place worth checking out if you are on the hunt for a new community.

We were referred to The Commons at Elk Grove (CA) for post-hospitalization care for my husband. While he remains mentally sharp and fully engaged in his role as a CEO, his physical condition and rehabilitation needs require a specialized level of support. The Commons at Elk Grove has truly been a gift from heaven. As newcomers to the area, we were navigating unfamiliar territory. From my very first conversation with Karen (Marketing Specialist), my intuition told me this was a special place. That impression was confirmed when Meggin and Kimberly made the two-hour drive”each way”to meet my husband in the hospital and assess his needs firsthand. Their depth of knowledge around care coordination, insurance coverage, and interdisciplinary services was both reassuring and impressive. They anticipated and addressed every important detail”large and small”with grace and professionalism, making his transition from the hospital to the facility seamless. The facility itself is modern, immaculate, and welcoming. The food is exceptional, and his private one-bedroom apartment”overlooking a putting green”is perfect for someone who has always loved golf. Yet, beyond the physical setting, what has been most impactful is the joyful, caring spirit of the staff. There is a consistent atmosphere of positivity and enthusiasm. Each team member I’ve encountered has been genuinely invested in the well-being of the residents. I’ve observed their kindness not only with my husband, but also with many others. The coordination of care (led and directed by Barbara)”from daily support to specialized rehabilitation services”is seamless and deeply respectful of each resident’s dignity and needs. Placing a loved one in the care of others is never easy, yet I can say with full confidence that this experience has been one of collaborative partnership, grounded in trust and mutual respect. During the two months my husband was hospitalized, I rarely slept through the night. Since his arrival at The Commons, I’ve been able to rest. My sleep patterns have returned, and slowly, I’m beginning to feel like myself again. From day one of working with this wonderful team I can see the warm, welcoming atmosphere made it feel like home. Mom has been at this facility for over 6 years now. She is happy and well cared for by incredibly loyal, patient and loving staff. Rooms and common areas are clean and welcoming. We found The Commons to be very pretty on the outside, beautiful entry, decent food, large apartment but the level of care is far less than other facilities. Per the executive director at The Commons you’re paying for food, a room, laundry and a few activities nothing more. You are not paying for care such as taking the resident for walks or checking to make sure they’re comfortable and content. Those services must be hired from outside private companies. This is not the philosophy nor practice of other communities. We’ve moved our mother to a community that not only checks on our Mom but will, if needed escort her to many more offered activities. They do not allow her to sit alone in her apartment. They follow her doctors orders and most importantly they follow state laws regarding protocols for viruses such as COVID. We wish we had listened to the other residents before we moved her into The Commons.

Our family went back and forth for nearly a year about moving our mom to assisted living - we finally decided it was time and she moved into The Commons. We should have made the decision months earlier. We feel so much relief knowing someone is checking on her multiple times a day. She has all of the support that she needs, and that we could not provide. The staff is absolutely incredible and truly cares for each and every resident. There are so many social events that are just perfect for this phase of her life. She has just transitioned to the Memory Care side, and we could not be happier with how the transition was handled. She is treated with love and kindness everywhere she goes. Huge thank you to Meggin for all of her guidance and support as we navigate new territory. The Commons, and all of the residents are lucky to have her at the helm.

Best of the best. We love the Commons. Mom moved in 6/19/23 and we have been so pleased with the care. Meggin is the director and manages the place with care and love. She absolutely loves the elderly who call the commons home. Mike the chef is amazing, fun, and makes meals that are delicious and nutritious. He brings so much love too to the community. Liza the head of nursing always ensures that care levels are at the best level to keep mom safe. The place is so clean, the cleaning staff is also super! The aides and med techs are superb!!! Each of them are lovely!!! Mom feels so cared for.

The commons has been a true oasis of kindness and compassion. It’s difficult to know what kind of facility it is when you choose, but Paul and I are very satisfied with the friendly and professional level of concern the commons staff offers. Would not trade it for anywhere. Thank you to all the team.

I am the owner of Megan Mobile Notary. I have been to the commons many times. I am always greeted by the awesome staff ready to assist me at check in and helping me find my residents rooms. They often have fun activities going on like painting workshops while I am there that I see the residents enjoying. The facility is very clean and feels like a home.

I highly recommend The Commons of Elk Grove. My mother has lived there for over 3 1/2 years. They have navigated the pandemic brilliantly, and have always kept the residents safe and active. As all businesses, they have had difficulty staffing all of the positions, but I must say, all of the staff have stepped up to fill in the gaps and maintained their focus on their residents. We visit my mother two or three times a week and find the staff to be attentive, friendly, and when asked to do some thing for us, have always done it with a smile. (of course with the mask you can only tell, looking at their eyes that they are smiling). The front desk staff is very resourceful and always willing to help. The directors are attentive, and responsive. They are getting a facelift, and the place is looking like new again. I can always call and I know they have our backs if we need help with my mother between family visits. I commend them on their staff. They are tasked with keeping many many personalities happy, I don’t envy them.

My mom went to live at The Commons at Elk Grove from out-of-state after my dad died, about 2 1/2 years ago. Everyone there was friendly and welcoming and Mom has been very happy there. She loves the staff; they are always happy to visit and so she has gotten to know most of them to some degree. I think management has done very well with the whole Covid situation, which has been quite a job. The food is good for the most part, with (almost) anytime dining service, and activities have been resuming gradually, since the main Covid crisis. My family feels good knowing Mom is well-looked after and content with her living situation.

I’ve been living at The Commons in Elk Grove for about 2 and a half years and have been quite happy here. It is a very friendly environment. The staff is wonderful and responsive and takes great care of me, though sometimes I think they could use a bit more help as they seem a bit understaffed. My room is comfy, the grounds are pleasant, and the food is generally quite yummy. I feel fortunate to live here.
