I want to praise the team at The Jefferson for raising the bar for senior care in the DC area. I've had two recent experiences there that have been fantastic. My friend Duane resided in The Jefferson's independent living area for seniors in his final months, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. His condo was spacious, clean, and looked-after by the incredible staff. His particular unit was on a high floor and happened to have incredible views of Arlington, which was also very special. Duane proudly showed me around the well-appointed shared spaces for residents (dining hall, socializing spaces, etc.) and we saw a speaker session actively in progress. Separately, I toured the facility's assisted living wing just recently in my search for long term care options for another senior friend who is in need of more hands-on care. Kimberly Anderson-Felga led me on an outstanding tour. Her passion for the community was evident in the high standards she has for the physical space and the genuine relationships she has cultivated with the residents. Beyond Kimberly, all the staff members we encountered (from front desk to security to nurses to cleaners) were friendly and thorough in their service to the residents, which is of course critical. The "rotunda" entryway with the painted ceiling was striking, and the entire assisted living wing felt like a Ritz-Carlton - nice carpeting, crisp wallpaper, warm lighting, tasteful decor, and so much natural light. I was excited to see renovation projects underway in some parts of the building (e.g., the gym), which is a good sign of a facility's emphasis on continuous improvement/updates and attention to detail. After touring numerous places over the past few days, The Jefferson is the clear leader.

My elderly mother recently stayed for more than a month at The Jefferson's skilled nursing facility to do rehab following partial hip replacement surgery after a fall. My mother's experience was mixed at this Sunrise Senior Living facility, with negatives including falling out of bed, getting COVID and having a wound that was not reported to our family and positives including often receiving patient, kind and helpful care, feeding and rehab. I want to offer the highest praise to Elaysia Thompson, Director of Social Services, and Laura, Director of Nursing. Both were professional, helpful, accessible, knowledgeable, hard working, and kind. They both went so above and beyond to assist my mother and our family in many different ways, including after she was discharged to receive the exact hospital bed she needed in her small group home. They both are a huge asset to The Jefferson!

Horacio gave us a a great tour of the facility and all its amenities. We had a great discussion about the requirements for becoming a resident. We walked away having a great understanding of The Jefferson Retirement Community.

The Jefferson is so beautiful and staff is always so helpful. I recently visited for Tour of Homes and it was such a great experience seeing all the different layouts and decorating. I am a project manager for White Glove Solution and have enjoyed working with Horacio and Roxanne on different projects. The Jefferson is always one place we recommend. Thank you again for always making our experience great.

The Jefferson is so beautiful and the staff is so welcoming! I work with White Glove Solution (senior moving company) and we LOVE to work with Tina, Horacio, and Roxanne. They are always willing to help however neccessary. The people at the concierge desk are always such a delight as well! Whenever our client's tell us they are moving into The Jefferson, we always tell them they are making a wise decision!

I can't say enough good things about The Jefferson and my experience with them, their facility and their staff. Last month, my aunt was admitted as a patient in their skilled nursing wing and it presented an opportunity that I'm so very glad we did not miss. My mother, who was also in the hospital, had not seen her sister in over 8 years. With the help of everyone, in particular Andrew and Rose, my mother was released to their skilled nursing facility and reunited with her sister. They coordinated the long ambulance ride from my mother's home and settled her comfortably. With their help, my aunt and mother were reunited before my aunt passed away. They had that moment because the staff cared enough to make everything work. While she was a resident at The Jefferson, they were very attentive to the unique needs and challenges of the end stages of her disease and did everything to make her at ease and cared for. They did that even when she didn't make it easy. Her care was exceptional and the best of her several skilled nursing admissions. I would like to point out that my mother continues to reside at The Jefferson and they have been so vital in helping her grieve her sister's death. She continues to receive exemplary care and rehabilitation so that she progresses, but the staff has also been very attentive to her grief process. She has had to plan her sister's funeral from skilled nursing and has been supported as she completes this final journey with her sister. I am proud of the care that my aunt received and found the facilities and services to be of the best quality. The rooms are clean and the staff upbeat. There are plenty of social activities and they kept my aunt engaged even when she was unable to move around due to her illness. In past skilled nursing stays she had difficulty remaining upbeat and I was grateful for the steps taken to keep her involved and happy. Her last few weeks were good ones because of The Jefferson. I wanted to upload the photo of my mom and aunt meeting again, but I'm running into an error. I'll try again later. But there were smiles all around.

Our loved one moved to the Jefferson over two years ago from another state. She is in the Assited Living community and enjoys a dailly high quality of life. She loves her bright sunny room, feels safe, and tells her family every day how "busy" she has been attending music concerts and sing-a-longs, playing group games, watching documentaries and old movies and sitting peacefully in the living room reading the paper! To a person, every employee is respectful, kind, patient and positive. The staff takes time to get to know the residents personally in order to keep them stimulated, engaged and comfortable. Liza J, the Director of Assisted Living is the quintessential professional with a refreshing sense of humor and is selflessly devoted to the residents -- she cultivates these traits in her loyal team. The buidling amenities, balconies, and surrounding gardens provide countless options for taking walks (inside and out) and for family to visit with loved ones. The warm and energizing environment of the Jefferson proivdes our famillly with the Peace of Mind that our loved one is well-cared for when we can't be there. It has exceeded all expectations for finding a special place for our loved one to get the professional care she needs as The Jefferson provides a lovely and fun environment for loved ones to age in place.

The Jefferson has the best location of any Independent Living Senior Condo Community in Northern Virginia. It's in exciting Ballston, a block from a metro station and downtown D.C., as well as every type of service available one needs--shoe repair, groceries, tailoring, dry cleaning, and loads of fun and fabulous restaurants.

I enjoy each day at The Jefferson. The activities ranging from physical, intellectual and cultural are great...stimulating. My fellow residents are quite a unique group....people of tremendous accomplishment with a great mix of brains and heart. Its urban location is so convenient and presents a wide choice of walkable activities. TJ is a great place!

Have lived here for several years. The location is perfect. We walk everywhere. Young people and dogs are everywhere so we don’t feel cut off from real folks. Our independent living condo means the best of both worlds.Some services provided here, and no home maintenance to worry about. And the people who live here make up a truly wonderful community.

Sadly, what started iff as a wonderful and hopeful experience did nit end that way. Communication among staff (nursing and therapy) is poor at best. I had to bring things about my husband's physical condition to the attention if the nursing staff, which leads me to the conclusion that they were not fully doing their job in patient care. My husband spoke of mistreatment the night staff, which stopped once it was brought to their attention.

Im dont live here--Im a bit too young, believe it or not--but when Im older, this would be a rather swell place to live! Ive a friend and former student [Im a professional pianist who used to teach othern pianists]---anyway, her own residence in the one of two Jefferson buildings, was, I thought a bit small, certainly compared to anything she would have lived in earlier, but she really liked it, and, yes, it was cozy. Many, many activities for those folks--theyre kept quite busy if thats what they like! Buses take them shipping; theres a sort of residence council, exercise programs, crafts. And the common areas are really swanky.

My mother lives in the assisted living part of the Jefferson. She loves it, and it helps me to know she is safe and cared for. The entertainment and activities are absolutely wonderful. The staff are the most patient and caring people you could ask for. The food is good too, not your regular faire.
