Reviews Atria Willow Glen
April 2026
This review is about Felicia and how much she helped us even though my mom couldn't be placed at Atria. My mother with dementia had suffered a serious fall at a board and care home and 10 hours after being placed at another care home, a second fall. She was hospitalized for 9 days for a total of 17 days in bed. We were unsure if she'd be able to walk again and had been turned down by 3 other care homes. Exasperated, tired, frustrated and losing hope, I made yet another call in a long string of calls, this time to Atria. A very caring woman named Felicia answered. She could feel everything I was going through in my voice. She said she knew someone who may be able to help and she passed my number to a lady named Mary who was able to help my husband and I finally find placement for my mom. I just want to say that Felicia was SO helpful, kind and caring even though Atria wasnt going to benefit from us as clients. Felicia took the time to listen to me and direct me in the best of ways. Without her, I seriously doubt we would've found my mom such a good placement. Thanks SO much Felicia, for everything!

Atria Willow Glen is a great place to live with beautiful landscaping, great activities for everyone, a supportive staff, and like-minded community of active seniors.
March 2026
A great place for your aging parent. There are lots of great activities a very nice and thoughtful staff.
March 2026
The staff is very supportive and responsive to my mother's needs. The grounds are well maintained. It is especially great for people who appreciate nature.
March 2026
We have been at Atria for three months. It is a challenging decision, but it is the right one for us. The facility and our unit are both attractive and well managed. Food was a arisk also, we were managing our own, but it was getting demanding. The chef here does a good job and the structure gives you choices. Pricing is a little complicated, you are not "buying in" your renting , so you have to look at your number's differently. We realized that we were going to come out pretty close to even.

I have been looking for a senior community for my mother and we chose Atria Willow Glen. It was a long process. Felicia Horkins was patient, supportive, and understanding. She did everything she could to have my mom feel welcome, heard, and comfortable. My mom will be moving in soon.
January 2026
For 25 years I lived in the neighborhood of Atria Willow Glen, and I always admired its 10 two story buildings amid leafy trees and beautiful Japanese landscaping. When it came time to actually pay a visit and consider a move, I was easily drawn to its homey environment on a 7-acre plot, above the Dry Creek, a welcome contrast to the many storied hospital like buildings that hardly looked homey, much less welcoming with the paved walkways, swimming pool, and community garden, much less a Koi pond. I moved in nearly 2 years ago and have never had a moment of feeling I’d made a mistake. There are many diversions, from Bingo games to art history lectures, a Bible study group and mahjong lessons. I was immediately elected to the Resident’s Council and have been mightily impressed by how seriously the members consider the welfare of all the residents, both independent, and not so much. Weekly excursions are scheduled to take us shopping, banking, and sightseeing to the beautiful Northern California sights and beaches. I’m also impressed by the many ways the administration takes care of us; musical groups, lecture series, and games, and movie nights being a few. It’s a great place to make friends, socialize, or go back to ones own apartment and read or write.
January 2026
Atria Willow Glen is a warm, welcoming community with truly caring and attentive staff who make everyone feel safe and at home. The community is always clean and well maintained, and the variety of fun, engaging events makes it easy to meet people, stay active, and feel connected. It really feels like a place where people care about one another. Highly recommend.
January 2026
I'm a two year resident at the Atria Senior residence in San Jose, and I feel it is the very best place for me to be at this time of my life! Instead of being alone in my house after my husband died, I knew I needed community around me, so I set out to tour facilities near my old neighborhood. After considering many locations and touring four, I chose the Atria and have never regretted my decision. Here I've found a wonderfully supportive staff, beautiful grounds, and the choice of more activities than I could ever manage to participate in. And a population of residents who truly care about each other! It does take a village!!
January 2026
Terrific place to live with a wonderful staff. I love the pool and use it 6 days a week. The food and service has been excellent. I enjoy the meetings and activities and have found my place teaching an art class. The setting is very pleasant and lovely to walk around. And we now have a garden that residents may participate in having their own space. Worth the price for sure.
January 2026
The Atria at Willow Glen provides a safe and vibrant residence for its residents! The amazing administration is always available and helpful with any concerns and the fantastic Activities Team provide fun, adventure, celebrations, field trips, ongoing education and lectures and fitness classes daily! There are continued and constant chances for fun and interesting activities! I highly recommend Atria Willow Glen for 55 + community!
May 2025
Everyone is so friendly and helpful, and "everyone know your name." Lots of different choices of activities available all day. My Mother is making lots of friends here.
May 2025
My mom has been at Atria since a broken hip required assisted living. The staff and facility are fabulous. I’ve seen my share of nursing homes/assisted living communities and Atria is in a category by itself— it’s truly become home for my mom!

As a senior living advisor, I help clients find the right community based on their preferences, and Atria Willow Glen is a top recommendation. The community features beautiful, well-established gardens and a peaceful environment that’s perfect for walking. The heated pool is an added bonus, but what truly stands out is the caring, professional team. While Atria Willow Glen provides residents the ability to age in place with the right level of support, it also maintains a high level of independence for those who prefer it. Many residents stay for years, which speaks to the strong sense of community and quality of life at Atria Willow Glen..
April 2025
Simply an amazing facility. Kurt Gursu and his staff really make families feel comfortable knowing their (in our case) mother was attended to, safe and cared for. The meals, the holiday parties, the laundry and housekeeping…what can I say, other than this is EXACTLY the type of place I would enjoy retiring to. The friendliness of neighbors, staff, and caretakers really make this place special. What a gem in Willow Glen. Thank you Atria.
September 2024
Nothing will ever be like “home”, but the staff at Atria Willow Glen bend over backwards to support the residents. Fixes occur promptly. There is a sense of comraderie and community. The grounds are gorgeous and very walkable. Lots of shade trees to sit under. Administratively, it is very well run. I believe it is one of the best out there. I visited many before settling on Atria Willow Glen. You will not be disappointed.

My mom has been in Atria Willow Glen’s memory care for over 3 years. I so appreciate the excellent Memory Care Director, Richard Olson, because of his caring nature, depth of knowledge about dementia, and practical wisdom from years of experience. I can see my mom is in good hands with Richard and his attentive and friendly staff. Also, they have a lovely and large garden area just for the memory care patients to walk and enjoy being outside.

This is a really beautiful assisted living facility and the back garden area is really pretty and relaxing. All the staff are super friendly and welcoming and seem to always be in good spirits. They partner with Furry Friends to bring pretty assisted therapy to the residents and are really caring and want to make sure the residents are happy and comfortable.
September 2023
Atria Willow Glen has been absolutely wonderful. At a very stressful time for the family, and in a difficult situation, they took care of my Mother's needs and the "family stress" by not only taking care of her, but also worked as a team to take care of the entire family's needs. The beautiful grounds brought us here but the staff are the folks that make it a great home. After approximately six months of care for my Mother I am truly amazed at the care and love Mom has been given at Atria. The decision to place her there was certainly the right choice. My appreciation for the staff and management just continues to grow.

This is by the far the best memory care in the area, all do to the wonderful director Richard Olson. He is very passionate and committed to his residents and their families. He is also very knowledgeable with the Alzheimer-dementia disease and makes sure the needs of all his residents are being met. He is so compassionate and caring your loved ones will be in the best hands with Richard.

I toured Atria Willow Glen looking for senior living options for my dad. The community is well maintained, offers a wide variety of activities for its residents and the employees we encountered were all very friendly.

My team has helped many families move to Atria Willow Glen and it is an amazing community! They have a very caring staff and this community has the best social events. Casino night is my favorite! Great location and even has a pool! I highly recommend Atria Willow Glen!
January 2021
Atria Willow Glen has a friendly efficient caring staff with a positive. The grounds are well maintained and easy to get around. When the future of my parents will eventually require assisted living, I will definitely consider to use Atria Willow Glen to care for my parents.
January 2021
With my grandparents getting older, my family and I searched for the perfect new home for them and I am happy to say we found that at Atria Willow Glen. The staff is wonderful, the grounds are beautiful, and the endless activities are enjoyable. This creates a space where my grandparents not only feel at home but feel like family. My grandma truly enjoys the different activities and clubs offered which keeps her busy with a new hobby every week lol! While my grandpa loves the serene setting that includes gorgeous landscaping and greenery while remaining safe and secure. Not to mention the table service provided which includes delicious food that attends to my grandpa's special dietary needs. Running all of this is an amazing team of people that we are so grateful for. The staff at Atria Willow Glen could not be more kind, helpful, and accommodating. Knowing my grandparents are in good hands allows my family and I to finally sleep soundly. We could not thank you guys enough! I completely recommend Atria Willow Glen for anyone looking to find safe, beautiful, fun, and welcoming senior living.

If you are looking for a home away from home, this is the place. 7 acres of outdoor space, swimming pool, Koi pond, and even a dog park! Staff will take care of all your needs; great food, entertainment, housecleaning, and a friendly smile. Come meet new friends, join a book club, play a game of Scrabble, or just relax in the sun with refreshing beverage. Its the best move you will ever make.
December 2020
When it came time for my great grandmother to be placed in a memory care unit we realized that their were many options. The beautiful community grounds at willow glen along with the big backyard of the memory care building made it an easy choice. My great grandmother had been living independently at 99 years old and we were worried that she would have a hard time acclimating. It was a pleasant surprise for me to find out that The Memory Care director was Richard Olson. Richard and I had worked in health care together previously and I knew that she was in good hands. His engaging program and knowledge of Dementia and the disease process made all the difference. He is able to define the individual needs of the residents, which I believe makes a huge difference. The staff are polite, caring and my great grandmothers transition was much easier than anticipated.

Two years ago we had to move our father into a dementia care facility in San Jose. We new very little about the process and what is the most importin to look for when selecting a home. We selected a facility that was new and clean and very friendly. But little did we know the one importin thing we didn't ask was the tenure of the employees, come to find out it was a revolving door. New employees at each visit, with not consistence of care for our father. We relocated dad this late spring to Atria, top of our list of question was tenure. We were blown away with the the longevity of the staff, every personal has a name tag and on it is how may years they have worked Atria. We are truly thankful we found the right home for dad and how caring they are, there is laughter and joking abound. The team really feels like a second family. Don't let the old of the building stop you from coming in, because the warmth of the hearts will win you over. We are a believer The McLarney Family

My Dad has been at Atria Willow Glen for almost five years and has been living in the Memory Care Unit for almost 3 years. He receives the best care that I can imagine! The staff is caring and completely dedicated to all the residents there. I can sleep better at night, knowing that he is safe and Well cared for.
February 2020
I always recommend Atria Willow Glen to my clients who are exploring senior living options, and all who moved in have given me glowing feedback. I think the most remarkable feature of this community is the natural setting with towering pine trees and lush landscaping throughout the expansive 7-acre campus. I also love the huge number of resident clubs and organized activities; virtually every hobby can be indulged and many new regular activities started. The staff is always friendly, engaging and helpful, and the food is consistently some of the best in the senior-community business. Atria WG also offers a full spectrum of care from regular mobility assistance to advanced memory care (MC). The MC-dedicated secure outdoor area is the largest of any of the assisted living communities in the area with a long circular walking path and a shaded patio area.

What a beautiful community! The environment is peaceful, activities are abundant, and the food is terrific! Felicia and the entire staff make our visits filled with warmth and smiles! One of the things that makes this community stand out is their lovely Koi pond!! If you get a chance stop by and check it out!!

As a professional in the Senior Living industry I can say, without a doubt, that Atria Willow Glen stands heads and tails above the rest! I have been a Realtor specializing in selling homes for seniors moving to Senior Living Communities for over 10 years now. I have a vast array of experience with communities across the Bay Area and Atria Willow Glen has always been a stand out for a number of reasons. Atria Willow Glen has not only the kindest, most caring, and supportive staff for their residents but they also have longevity in employment. In the ten years that I have been working with them there has been very little staff turnover. Felicia Horkins has been the Community Sales Director and a resident/family favorite for nearly every resident in the community for 8 years. Kurt Gursu has been the Executive Director for nearly ten years and I always find him interacting with residents throughout the community when I stop in. Jenny Lockwood has been the Engage Life Director for almost four years and is well known around the community for the events she plans and her individual attention to each resident. The community itself is home to energetic and active seniors who move for no other reason than to free themselves of the day-to-day responsibilities of a home in exchange for the ability to enjoy all life has to offer. Because Atria Willow Glen has the help needed for all stages of life you will also find that when assistance is needed many turn to Atria Willow Glen for their exceptional reputation for care. While helping those who need assistance they also strongly encourage engagement with the community around them thus keeping them active and from further decline for as long as possible. They even have a solution for those needing memory care. They have one of the very best memory care options in the area. Once again, they excel in keeping their memory care residents active, engaged, and feeling productive in their time with them. Living in a community with all levels of care is so important as we age, making more than one later in life move is not only stressful but comes with consequences that affect overall health and well-being. Atria Willow Glen has solved that problem and continues to be the best at what they do. I could go on and on but I will end by saying that if my Mom needed a Senior Community, Atria Willow Glen would be my number one choice. When I talk with residents that are living there I never hear anything but rave reviews. When I talk to families moving there it’s always Felicia Horkins and how wonderful she is that becomes the center of the conversation. And in my ten years working with them we have never had anyone call to move out of their community and into another. If you are considering Atria Willow Glen, stop second guessing yourself and make the move...you won’t regret it!!!!

I work with elderly clients specializing in Alzheimers. The thing I loved about Atria is their willingness to help provide my client with the most independent life they were capable of living. As my client's illness progressed and was moved into memory care, I've been even more impressed. The staff is caring, the activities engaging and the residents are always engaged to their capacity. They even use aroma therapy to help residents establish routines re: time of day. Calm at night and engaging in am. It is clean and lively. I love the outdoor area. Richard is very knowledgable re: dementia and has a passion to understand how to help his residents to his best ability.

Simply fantastic! I went in to Atria Almaden last week and secured a beautiful studio apartment for my father. This place is awesome – state of the art and tons of great activities for my dad to stay busy. The building itself is going to be beautiful. Three restaurants which include a sky lounge car which my father will love. Plenty of opportunities for socializing. I think my father will thrive in this community. Highly recommend!!!

We are grateful to the team at Atria Willow Glen for providing a wonderful community, beautiful grounds, good food and a vibrant social activity life for our mom, Jo. She lived their very happily for 3 years, until we persuaded her to move across the country to be closer to us. She made great friends at Atria. She got involved in the food committee, participated in the swimming classes, belonged to the Mahjong club, went on countless trips and outings, and enjoyed the fine cuisine and meals. As her children, we were overjoyed that Atria was such a great fit for her and that she happy living there. I will miss feeding the Koi fish in that gorgeous pond you have outside the dining hall. So peaceful!

We are very happy with our stay here in Atria Willow Glen. An important part of our daily living is our meals in the dining room and the wait staff is an a vital component.of this experience. The younger servers impress the most, especially Blanca, but Shaterica, Victoria, Diva, Nate and Maarvin all provide cheerful prompt service too.

I very much appreciate the folks at Atria Willow Glen. Mom spent 1.5 years there before passing in January, 2014. Her last year was in the memory care unit (Madrone). The staff was wonderful to her and their expert and compassionate care helped her to thrive in her last days. I thank each and every member of the Madrone staff for the empathy and compassion that they extended towards us as well.

Atria Willow Glen is the perfect community for me.. the food is great, the employees caring, professional and and dedicated. The residents are like family. A special thumbs up to the assisted living staff in the Cedar building, especially Ifrah Mohammud who is so loving and caring she's like a special angel/friend taking care of me. She has a delightful sense of humor and and makes me laugh while making me feel safe with her wonderful care. Some people do their job--Ifrah does her job with love. I can't imagine any other place I'd rather be than Atria Willow Glen.
