Although this facility is not perfect, it definitely does not deserve the negativity of some. I have been here through the worst part of my recovery and I am definitely vulnerable and incapacitated. But I still have my faculties and some of the nastiness here makes me wonder. I have had some wonderful CNAs and nurses. This is the first time I have had so many different introduce themselves and offer assistance in any way they could. I feel if you want to complain then do so but don't spend your entire review talking about how the reviews are obtained because I promise you every place worries about their reviews. Being a prior social worker I sit back and observe a lot. These folks here are legitimately happy and are being treated with so much respect from the social committee to the nursing staff, doctors and admin. I think I made the right decision.

The reality is not reflected in the reviews. My mother died here due to neglect during feeding in the long term care facility known as rehab 3. The person feeding her rushed her meal and was usually distracted by the TV until it finally happened - she choked to death.

Cypress Village has been wonderful to be a part of. My mom started off in the rehab facility and has since been moved to the assisted living part of the facility for a short time. The communication received from day 1 upon arrival at the rehab place has been outstanding. From the team of CNA's that have been there for care around the clock, to the security team that works the check in desk; they have all been like family to us as visitors and to the family member that has been staying at the facility. Let's not forget Chef Lamont who surprised mom on her birthday with a piece of cake. And the nurses made a homemade card. The transition from the rehab phase to the assisted living phase was seamless, thanks to Debbie and Abby and their team of people who handle this on a regular basis. They help with communication, understanding and ease to the family members of the person staying. They make sure you know what to expect and who to reach out to, if needed. Touring the assisted living side with Abby was amazing! We were introduced to some residents, some of whom have been there for years, and they all were so happy and friendly! There is a full calendar of events for residents to partake in if they choose. It is set up to where you would never have to leave if you didn't want to. The staff at Cypress Village probably never gets the recognition they deserve for what they do daily for their residents and visitors alike. They really try to make the family feel comfortable so that potential residents will be as well.

After a short hospital stay, my mother needed a rehab center. Cypress Village was chosen by the family for its reputation and location. What we didn't realize was how nice the rehab facility was, how good the food was, and most importantly how focused and caring the staff made us feel. Mom was well taken care of and during her therapy we had access to the quiet and comfortable sitting areas and outdoor courtyard located in the rehab facility. Special shout out to Paula and Nicole who were terrific caregivers, Harlan and Claudia for patiently guiding mom through physical therapy and Nancy D for checking on us and making sure that everybody was taken care of while we were at CV. Anyone who's worked at Cypress Village knows they use awards, contests and lots of begging to get staff to post good reviews here and on other review sites. If anyone posts an honest but negative review, management uses every trick in the book to get it taken down. Relatives of managers have posted many reviews on different sites, praising their own family members who work at Cypress Village. They work so hard to build a fake online image instead of fixing problems.

I DO NOT recommend Cypress Village for vulnerable residents. Also, anyone at all connected to this place gets constant blasts from management offering prizes for leaving happy reviews. So read happy reviews with caution. Note that residents in intensive care generally can't physically leave reviews, so resident reviews here are mostly from the active and healthy residents. Medicine issues and injuries to residents happen, and it all gets swept under the rug. Treatment of residents with heavy care needs is often neglectful, though there are some truly fantastic and caring staff members. If you're an active and independent adult it's okay here, since you can take advantage of the amenities and community while not needing the intensive care services that severely lack quality and attention. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 since the food is good, and since it's a fine place for active and independent residents. BUT I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT FOR RESIDENTS WHO NEED INTENSIVE CARE. If you know you'll need quality care, do not live at Cypress Village (or send your parents here).

When I am at Cypress I have noticed the staff seem to find fulfillment in what they do. The residents seem happy, engaged and well cared for. The activity calendar is jammed packed and there is always something to do, The residents and staff can always be found engaging with one another and helping with everything from insticted lead classes to quick tech smart phone support, The grounds and landscaping are beautiful and the interior appearance is so inviting. After being here for 8 years, we remain very happy with the decision to come to this community. It is the neighborhood you have that mean the most to us. The amenities and staff are great, but wonderful friends and neighbors trumps everything else. Anybody in their retirement years should check this place out. Make sure you get an opportunity to visit with a current resident - you will be amazed to hear about their accomplishments and friendliness. We have two more years here in the community, and continue to enjoy our life here, and our decision to make Cypress Village our home. We live independently, but greatly appreciate all the care provided to us in the form of maintenance of all appliances in our home as well as the care of our home's exterior and garden. We are proud of our neighborhood, and delighted that all those tasks and worries are borne by others. Ten years and counting.

We moved to an equity home in Cypress in July of 2020 during the height of the Covid season. Cypress management went out of their way to keep people engaged with information via technology (text, comcast, internet). Our unit leaders had gatherings outdoor on the driveway so we could meet all of the people in our unit. The village in tucked away in a small neighborhood which is very friendly and quiet. We would recommend Cypress Village.

We've lived here in a beautiful home on a lovely pond for 6 1/2 years. The staff, amenities and locale drew us from our home in Maine and we've never regretted it. Our needs were well taken care of during the difficult restrictions during the recent pandemic, including vaccinations and booster shots for all who wished. Residents were kept apprised of the regional, local and Cypress Village statistics via the weekly videotaped Coffee Chat, available to watch on the in-house TV channel. It gave us peace of mind knowing how the pandemic was being handled in our community. All of our well being is thoughtfully cared for: mental and emotional and physical! High praise for Cypress Village!!! Update June 21, 2024. Same comments and with confirmation that we made the right decision 8 1/2 years ago!! Better to be 5 minutes early than 15 minutes late choosing a CCRC!

I wanted to like this place. I really did. It's pretty and it's nearby. They have great industry ratings. My 80 year old mother was here for post-surgery rehab from 4/27 until 5/18. She has been in several rehab facilities in the last five years based upon where in the state the event giving rise to the need for rehab occurred. Without question, this facility was one of the least diligent and most frustrating. Yes, the physical set up of the facility is nice and my mother advises that the PT services were good. Food was mostly edible. But there were issues. (1) staffing is woefully inadequate and/or staff are too busy playing on their phones to respond to resident call lights or provide care. My mother (who was non-weight bearing and VERY low maintenance) routinely waited upwards of 30 minutes for someone to respond to a call light for assistance to the restroom. On more than one occasion (in 21 days), the response time was more than TWO HOURS. And that's 2+ hours without someone so much as bothering to pop their head in the room to see if the call light was for something urgent/emergent. As a result (not to mention the indignity of it), she suffered a diaper rash from sitting in her own urine waiting on assistance. (2) Staff did not bother to attend the mandatory care conference that THEY SCHEDULED--not just one department absent, but several departments. Specifically, PT staff failed to attend a care conference setting expectations for a REHAB patient. (3) Room was not kept tidy, trash not timely removed. (4) My mother came home with scabies. She absolutely did not have the bites upon entry to the community, as evidenced by her admission skin assessment. Apparently, there is an outbreak in nursing homes in the area. Unfortunately, while we noticed what appeared to be scratches or bites on her arms and legs immediately, she was home for several days before someone advised the sores were actually scabies. She'd had the sores for about a week before she was discharged from Cypress, but no one there made any indication they were anything requiring treatment and she did not mention them to us. Of course, once she was home, and (because of Cypress' poor discharge planning) there was no hiding the sores from us as we provided personal services to my mother. (5) the facility suffered from a complete failure to properly handle discharge planning. From the day she was admitted, we had a set discharge date. We confirmed and reconfirmed it. Family double checked with facility the necessary equipment orders and outpatient services. We saw the doctor the day before her planned discharge date to be sure discharge was suitable (it was). The last four days my mother was there, no return calls from admissions, nursing, or social work. Finally I was told to call the DME provider to confirm the equipment they ordered (it had NOT been properly ordered). I was also told by the facility that my mother's insurer needed to provide something for discharge (a flat out lie-according to the insurer). When their failure to properly manage and execute a timely discharge became apparent, staff kept threatening her that if she left as scheduled, she would be leaving AMA and staff further told her all sorts of falsehoods about what the consequences of leaving AMA would cause specifically to scare her. BTW, she was NOT leaving AMA. Oh, and referral to home health for post discharge assistance (a requirement imposed by law on the facility) was to an office that DID NOT SERVE the patient's address. I mentioned that the office location for home health seemed remote for the service location and asked them to recheck. They did not. As the result of Cypress' complete and utter failure to perform their obligation to discharge plan, it took SIX DAYS after discharge (non-weightbearing and in a wheelchair) for an assessment for PT/OT and nursing and TEN DAYS after discharge for her first PT appointment. Don't send anyone vulnerable that you care about here…

My wife and I have recently moved to Cypress Village into a life care home. We dine at the Lakeside venue 95% of the time due to dietary issues. Since the arrival of Chef Danny, we have seen marked improvement in the food quality and plating. Kudos to Chef Danny and kitchen staff.
