Posting on behalf of my Aunt: After living here for a few months, I can honestly say that moving to this community was one of the best decisions I've made. I started in the rehab, which is older but the people are nice and the exercise was good. I fell in love with the apartments in the Independent Living, big windows and nice finishes. The leadership team, the General Manager and the Assistant General Manager are outstanding! Both ladies are always responsive, friendly, respectful, and genuinely interested in making sure residents are happy. The Sales Director Brittney helped me move in and she is always bouncing around and I see her helping people and even the pets that live here. I like that I can do what I want and I don't have to cook or clean. The courtyard is beautiful and well maintained. I am so grateful I chose to move here and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an independent living community that is welcoming, well-run, and full of wonderful people.

Ive been here about 8 months after having checked out several places. Like every place else Bedford Court has had challenges such as elevator malfunction and kitchen renovation. Far outweighing any challenges are the wonderful people both staff and residents. While it’s just one building there are sufficient activities and outings to keep even. Joiner like me happy!

Bedford Court is a hidden gem of Silver Spring. The community and residents are so welcoming. The newly renovated independent living apartments are spacious and bright. I love the courtyard view and love to sit and listen to the fountain. Brunch and happy hour weekly!

My husband and I moved into Bedford court 5 weeks ago. After seeing several senior residences, we made the right choice coming here. The staff and residents are very welcoming and friendly, there are activities 7 days a week, the meals are fresh and delicious. It’s like on a cruise ship but not on the water! Highly recommended!

Price continues to rise and quality dropping from years earlier. Eg been waiting over 10 mos for repair of damaged bathtub. (Update: Despite the response and feigned interest to my review by Sunrise, for which I provided additional details in DM, there has still been no follow-up, and we're still waiting 1+ yr now for a repair. I toured Bedford Court on Thursday, February 16th. My tour of the facility was guided by Mr. Gilchrist Annan, the Director of Sales. I was impressed with the facility, and the friendliness of the staff and residents. I gave Mr. Annan a good faith down payment check in the amount of $1000. The check was only to be deposited if we decided to take the apartment. However, my husband and I decided that we couldn't afford to rent the apartment at this time. I notified the Sales Director the next day which was Friday, February 17th. I was not informed that the check had already been deposited. I was notified by checking my account that the check had cleared my account without my authorization. I notified the Sales Director immediately on Thursday, February, 22nd about my disappointment in their business practices. I am still waiting for my refund from the Corporate Office. I was told my check would be ready for pickup on Tuesday, February 27th. However, I was informed that it would possibly be ready next Monday. I am disappointed in the business practices of Bedford Court, especially since I'm on a fixed income. My husband and I are currently looking into other facilities. I would never recommend anyone of my family or friends to this establishment.

I have attended several healthcare networking events hosted by Bedford Court. I have found both events enjoyable and was treated with warm hospitality, food, and a chance to meet others partners in the senior care industry. This week was a demonstration given by the culinary director; it was both engaging and interesting. Bedford Court also offers periodic continuing education opportunities (CEU). I look forward to attending future events and training sessions.

As a professional in the area of senior living, it is difficult not to find fault with competing communities'. After visiting Sunrise Bedford Court several times, I can safely say, I would absolutely refer to this community. When walking in, the community is clean and welcoming. The concierge was engaging with residents as if they were family! The apartments were nicely sized and include everything that an aging adult needs to feel independent - built around safety outside the door! If you are looking for assisted living, this is your place to visit first!

I have been looking for independent living for my mom for a few months. Two things made Bedford Court unique. They had a representative who lived there show us around, which was so helpful in getting a feel for what the place was like. They also allowed my mom to do a trial stay. This experience basically changes how my mom feels about independent living - she had been reluctant to embrace the idea previously. And, I guess a third, the people. It was such a warm and welcoming group, they really won us over. Bedford Court has the amenities of many of the other spots, but the community makes it extra special.

Gilchrist gave my family a tour and he was wonderful. He was thorough sharing information with my parents and allowed us to view several different apartment styles. He provided a free lunch for our entire family at the dining room, and the food and service was fantastic. I can definitely see my parents happily living here when the time for them to move is needed.

I toured Bedford Court in Silver Spring, MD yesterday for a possible place to move to in the near future. Mr. Gilchrist Annan, Director of Sales, took us around, as well as treated me to a lovely lunch at their very nice restaurant. This facility is top notch. It was a little older facility; however, they’re in the process of renovating some of the apartments. The one bedroom apartment I looked at presented well, the nicest apartment of all the other facilities I toured. Mr. Annan knows his stuff. He explained every detail as it relates to fees, services, occupancy, etc, not leaving any important details out. I was fortunate to meet the VP and several executive directors who happened to be meeting there and everyone was so cordial, personally welcoming me and expressed their joy and desire that I would consider Bedford Court as a possible place to live. Unfortunately, I wasn’t financially able to meet their requirements. It’s a wonderful place to consider if you don’t have any financial limitations. Check it out. You’ll be glad you did! And ask for Mr. Gilchrist Annan. Just meeting him was worth going there. He’ll do everything he can to make your visit worthwhile and you’ll be glad you met him. Gaile P. Hyman

I owe a great debt of gratitude for the care my aunt received at Bedford Court. In our three years in Independent Living I cannot praise the staff we encountered sufficiently. Housekeeping to Maintenance to the Dinning Room to the Front office, all were unfailingly kind and helpful. Bedford Court has the unique status of being large enough to offer a variety of social activities, yet small enough to know each resident. That personal touch was invaluable. As my aunt's hearing and sight loss became more acute, not only did the Dinning Room staff know her favorites, but the entire staff was able to update me on what she had been doing around the building. She was looked after in a manner that eased my concerns regarding her safety and well-being. When the transition to Assisted Living became necessary, it was seamless. I highly recommend Bedford Court. Our experience there has exceeded every expectation.

Having checked out 13 different places let me tell you Bedford court is a real gem. Really - in all seriousness just start here. (You can thank me later) The building is warm and bright with lots of sunlight and many cozy touches. The rooms are clean and spacious and extremely well priced for the area. The residents are clearly active & engaged in daily life and almost everyone we passed made eye contact and greeted us. The staff were warm & welcoming without exception. Activities calendar had lots of intellectual as well as artistic and active options. Didn’t try the food but the menu was full of fresh and appealing options across the spectrum of dietary needs. I genuinely can’t say enough good things about this place. We were going to place my mom here and we would have if she had remained in Maryland. Elaina (sales) is down-to-earth and practical and a huge help.

When my usually "yappy" young grandson came to visit me for the first time at Bedford Court's Independent Living section, he was uncharacteristically quiet as we toured the facility, talked about the activities, and had lunch. Then he spoke up: "Grandma, you are on a never-ending cruise." Well, let me count the ways! Food: Continental Breakfast is a LIE. It is a full breakfast - eggs, variety of hot and cold cereals, pancakes, waffles, french toast, muffins, fresh fruit, breads and spreads, variety of juices and hot drinks. The lunch menu food is so good that people come from "outside" to do lunch. Dinner - 6 entrees available every day, 3 changing entrees daily, along with choice of 2 soups and 3 veggies, the best salad bar in town, a variety of drinks, and desserts to die for. The only problem is that I quickly gained ten pounds. Brunch on Sundays - I am uncharacteristically speechless. And the Bistro, with a monster machine delivering a myriad of drinks, and cookies for snacking. Apartments - a wide variety of layouts in one- and two-bedroom formats. Weekly cleaning, including washing linens. Activities - you name it, and it is available. Games, clubs, lectures, exercise classes, movies, concerts, and constant trips to local venues for entertainment and shopping. Now for two real "biggies" - communal living and considerate staff. All of the things I have mentioned so far would not "work" without an amazing staff. I am positive that helpful attitude is a major issue in Bedford Court's hiring process. It's like in Cheers - everybody knows your name. And your world will be enhanced by knowing the interesting people who live here, sharing life experiences and lively opinions. I am grateful for every minute of every day I live at Bedford Court. I am enjoying the wonderful quality of life they provide for me.

My mother, Marge Allwine, moved into Bedford Court Independent living a year ago this month. She loves living there. It was hard for her to leave her home of over 30 years but once she got moved in and settled she couldn't be happier. She has made friends and goes to dinner with them every evening. The food is excellent and the staff are all so friendly. Her only complaint is that she should have moved to Bedford Court sooner. My sister and I don't worry about her like we did when she lived alone. Her life is so much easier now and for that my sister and I are grateful.

Our parents lived in their own home for 57 years. When our dad became ill, we moved them down the road to Bedford Court Independent Living. Although our dad passed away shortly after their move, our mother lived in Bedford Court for another 3 years until her death. She was so happy living in this community. She developed loving and meaningful relationships with the terrific staff and with the residents. Although she missed our dad, she was never bored; there was always something for her to do! Between trivia, movies, Issues and Answers, current event speakers, field trips to the theater and music programs, she was always on the go! Often when we called, what previously would have been a long phone conversation, became short and sweet because she had a program to attend. Our mother really developed a new-found social life and new dear friendships at Bedford Court. She enjoyed her meals too, especially the socializing associated with the dining room. She was truly content in her new home and that remains the most important legacy of this lovely and friendly residence. We highly compliment the staff for their continuous responsiveness and ongoing warmth and caring, and would recommend Bedford Court Independent Living to anyone looking for a welcoming and engaging community.
