We were fortunate in March, 2025 of securing an apt for our brother-in-law at Middlewoods of Newington. It wasn't only the right place for him but Middlewoods has gone beyond meeting our every expectation. The level of care received is outstanding, the professional management, communication, friendliness, cleanliness, deliciously prepared meals and great weekly menus, right down to the weekly entertainment, and outings make Middlewoods stand out as being the very best place to live for those wanting to enjoy Independent Living as well as for anyone needing some Assistance.

My father became very ill this winter and we as a family needed to get him into assisted living quickly. I can't say enough about Lori and Jake from Middlewoods of Newington. My family was scrambling to find the right fit for dad and in such short notice both Jake and Lori were so accommodating and kind. It was a very stressful time and I can say with total confidence that we made the perfect choice for dad. This community of residents and staff are warm, welcoming, gracious and truly care about each and every resident. Middlewoods is a beautiful facility and my dads studio is perfect size with all the necessary amenities. I rest well at night knowing my father is well taken care of at Middlewoods. I recommend Middlewoods with 5 stars!

My mother has lived at Middlewoods since November. It is never easy to leave your own home and transition to assisted living. I can't say enough about the personalized care, compassion, and wisdom the Middlewoods of Newington team has in dealing with the elderly population. I sing their praises to all of my friends and family and encourage them to consider this wonderful location for their loved ones as well.

Great family atmosphere. Very warm and accommodating staff who treat you like family. Very safe facility. They have a 5 Star Michelin Chef who’s the Director of dining, she’s awesome. The Director of the facility Lori runs a very smooth operation.

My parents started living at Middlewoods of Newington 10 years ago, and they (and we) have been so impressed. After my dad passed, my mom stayed and definitely felt at home. It’s a happy place; it’s cozy and friendly, and well kept up. Just beautiful with its ever changing seasonal decor. Everyone from the director, Lori, to the nursing staff, awesome aides, friendly dining staff, and busy recreation people, etc., is wonderful, professional and kind. I would recommend Middlewoods with absolute confidence.

Transitions are a part of life, new pathways unfold and we meet new persons who enter our journey when needed most!!! Do I miss my loved one’s presence, of course, yet, I cannot help smiling when I hear her telling me about the care she’s receiving, the countless kindnesses offered daily from staff and residents who certainly empathize with this new’ journey of life! My family member has been living At Middlewoods for approximately a year and a half and my entire family feels very comfortable With the quality of life that Jeff is experiencing at Middlewoods of Newington. The entire staff is extremely caring and always willing to help when called upon. Lori the executive Director is very involved with all the residents. there is a variety of activities on a daily basis as well as out trips and live entertainment on a weekly basis. The facility has a definite home, feel as there are only 60 apartments all on one floor. The services provided are excellent where in addition to three meals a day someone comes in on a daily basis to empty baskets, clean each apartment on a weekly basis and also laundry is provided by the staff weekly.there are several choices of meals at each sitting and optional choices available every day. I think Toni the executive Chef does an excellent job with the variety and healthy choices of meals and tries to accommodate the special needs of any particular resident. The maintenance staff is also very responsive .Jeff feels very comfortable and safe in his retirement community.

For the past 3 years we’ve been providing in-home care services for a couple of residents in the facility. My experience with the whole staff of Middlewoods has been great! They are wonderful to work with! Everyone is very pleasant and always willing to help. They take pride in serving their residents and families. When we were looking for an assisted living facility for my elderly mother-in-law, we interviewed two respected communities closest to where we live. Middlewoods was one of those communities. Both facilities and staff were lovely, but Middlewoods felt more homey and down-to-earth, and less like a hotel to me than others I have seen. More than three years later, our family and my mother-in-law feel more strongly than ever that Middlewoods was the right choice! My mother-in-law and all the residents are treated with dignity, compassion, affection, and the best of care! The programming for residents and sometimes families is fun and lively (and is in the process of coming back after Covid!), and the residents choose to participate as much or as little as their heart desires. The staff is friendly and warm to families as well as the people living in the community, and are always attentive to the needs of residents and family members. I LOVE the warm, welcoming, and cheerful atmosphere at Middlewoods! I want to commend the staff for the outstanding job they have done caring for our loved ones during this pandemic. They have gone the extra mile in ensuring and enforcing safe practices, and have earned the distinction of having kept every member of the community and every staff person safe and well throughout this time. They have a perfect record, and I know they are working hard to keep it that way, while moving to relax restrictions when the time is right. We are SO thankful for how you all have been instrumental in keeping our loved ones well and contributing to the quality of their lives through this time. Even if life is a little more quiet at Middlewoods for the time being, you have done what you can to provide a safe and caring environment and an enriched life for our elderly family members, to be there for them and for us. After making the difficult decision to move my mother in law to an assisted living community, we toured several of them and asked a million questions. We knew immediately that Middlewoods of Newington was the place for her. The staff was warm and welcoming, the facility was clean and bright, and all the residents were happy. My mother in law has been there since November 2019 and we are thrilled with the level of love and care she receives from everyone there. From the director to the nurses and the entire staff, they all genuinely love and care for every single resident. The peace of mind our family has knowing my mother in law is in the best hands is priceless.

Our Mother lived happily at Middlewoods of Newington for over a year. While she there, Mom was treated with respect and kindness from the Director and from all the staff. Middlewoods was always welcoming, clean and compliant with all the COVID 19 regulations. Because Mom was in Hospice care at the end of her life, we were allowed to visit with her. This was so important to her family because Mom knew we were there for her and she would not die alone. We could tell her how much we loved her and were able to give Mom permission to transition. There are no words that can fully express our sincere gratitude to the staff at Middlewoods for the care and kindness shown to our Mom and our family.

Go visit your family member now!! When families have not been able to come in and visit residents they have left the resident rooms a mess. We recently were ble to get in. .....No one is cleaning, resident clothes are left dirty with food crusted on and hung back up in closet. This used to be a lovely facility before COVID - now it is left in disgusting filth. Weekly cleaning is part of the package, we encountered piles of bags not cleaned up . Unexceptable the GOOD ratings are from the past. Very Very sad.

Middlewoods offers a variety of activities to keep one busy as well as occcasional scenic drives. Of course lets not forget three delicious meals a day! Then there's the privacy of your own apartment to furnish and make one feel at home. What's not to like? Don't miss out on this gem!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Middlewoods of Newington. My 88 year old grandmother moved in at the end of June, in the middle of the pandemic, and it has been the best thing for her! They immediately made her feel welcome and at home. She left her home of over 55 years and was so nervous about starting anew, especially during COVID-19, but the transition was almost seamless. She had to quarantine in her apartment for 14 days, but it flew by quickly as the staff visited her multiple times during the day and kept her entertained with conversation, games and activities. The staff is also very communicative and accessible, and give updates on her frequently. She also loves the food, which is delivered to her room for safety reasons right now, and keeps saying "she's getting fat from it"! Her apartment is cleaned and her laundry is done weekly. The staff is also constantly cleaning and sanitizing any common areas to keep their residents safe. You can tell that their residents come first here. My grandmother just loves it here and said recently "she wished she moved in sooner!".

We love the care my Dad receives at Middlewoods of Newington! The staff goes above and beyond to make the residents feel comfortable and happy. Laura the activities director is a very special person. She keeps the residents busy and is very creative especially during this time with Covid. Personally she has helped me stay in touch weekly with my Dad via Zoom. My siblings and I are very happy we chose Middlewoods...we can rest easy knowing he is happy and safe.
