Reviews The Rutherford Assisted Living
October 2024
Disorganized, under-staffed, high staff turnover, cleaning the room was pretty much up to us apart from removal of trash in baskets. Poor communication system (I was once with mom when she pressed the intercom button four or five times over a period of 40 minutes without anyone responding). subjection of residents to 13-minute ear-piercing emergency alarm tests (director was conveniently not there when I experienced a recent one). Food was pretty good for an institution if you took the main plate and were served in the dining room but poor organization and follow-through for special needs and preferences. Reporting between nurses and assistants between shifts seemed minimal if existant since several times care - givers did not seem to be aware of turns of health or special needs; this may be due in part to the frequent use of temp nurses. Why didn't we take mother to a different place? Her room was nice, except for plumbing/air-duct (?) noises, with good natural light from windows ; we were afraid of stress resulting from a new move ; we heard from nursing assistants and other professional care givers who've worked in several nursing homes in the areas that all were plagued with similar low quality of service (including Adam's Place); mother's long- term health insurance would not give adequate coverage for home - care (while fully covering the costs at the Rutherford !); we had the fortune of having an outside assistant who could give good care to mom twice a week ; we were able to be with her or at least talk with her just about every day.

As a caregiver myself, I know what is required to take care of someone. At the rutherford, they go above and beyond. Everyone there has been so kind and so helpful. From the receptionist, maintenance man, the cook, the technicians, Wesley Warren and her nursing staff and most of all Stephanie Seiffert, Community Relations Director. She made sure we understood the process and saw to our every need. I don't know what we would have done without her. My loved one is now settled in and very comfortable in his new home. I feel like he will thrive in this community and atmosphere. Thank you Stephanie for all your help! You are appreciated!

Stephanie was so great with helping at ever crossroad to answer all our questions and set up a tour so quickly. It definitely has a family feel. Thanks for everything.

My mom has been at The Rutherford for several years now. The staff take very good care of her and are always respectful of her needs. The Administrator, Vicky and Director of Nursing, Brooke always make sure I am notified of any changes or needs with mom. The RAs are always happy to see mom and happy to assist her with her needs. The facility is clean and maintained, the kitchen staff is proactive is making meals mom will eat. The ladies at the front desk are very kind and always willing to do anything to help. Tamika, the Activities Director makes an effort to include mom in activities whenever possible. And of course the wonderful nursing staff work hard to ensure the facility runs smoothly! Vicky and Brooke have made The Rutherford a wonderful place for their residents and truly treat them like family. I could not think of a better place for mom to be than with her Rutherford family!

My father has been staying here for 7 months, he had already been to other places but this is definitely the best, he receives impeccable care, he has a very personalized service. we are very grateful to this place! thanks for your excellent work!

My brother-in-law resided in this facility for almost three years before he passed. It was a wonderful experience for him--and for my husband and myself. Head nurse (now the Administrator) Vicky Sims and Nurse (now Head Nurse) Brooke Morton were wonderful in keeping us informed about what he needed and his health. Our connection with them was important to us since we live out of state. They were always available when we needed them. When we visited my brother-in-law (unannounced) in June of 2022, we were pleased with Rutherford Assisted Living and the care that was provided. When his health declined because of his physical condition, we were able to keep him at Rutherford while he was in hospice, something that was important to us since my husband's brother was at home there, and moving him would have put him under great stress. The caring concern for him was great, and we are pleased he found a home with people who cared about him. Thank you for being there for our loved one.
October 2022
Not only is this a beautiful facility, the caregivers are top notch. The leadership team (Vicky, Brooke, Stephanie and Tomeka, to name a few …) are dedicated to making The Rutherford an excellent choice when you are needing a higher level of care for you or your loved ones!

My Mother, Edna Ruth Gardner, is living at The Rutherford. We looked at severalnother places, but found The Rutherford to be one of the nicest in town and affordable. Their Administrator, Joy Ash Galland has proven to us that we have made the right decision. When Covid hit, she took control and prevented an onslaught of cases. Even a difficult pregnancy hasn't prevented her from protecting her patients. We couldn't imagine our Mother being anywhere else, ans we know she's safe.

My husband of 50 years was placed at The Rutherford after a five week stay in a senior psych facility. In addition to other medical conditions, he also suffered with dementia, and needed help in every aspect of his daily activities. Having had a very bad experience at a previous facility, I was extremly worried. Without goint into details that could fill a book, I can only say that the staff - starting from his daily CNAs, all the way to Director Joy Galland - has been absolutely amazing. He was loved and cared for to a level that could not be matched at home. Though he was on the AL side, rather than in MC, his condition was accommodated with respect and utmost consideration. He passed away three weeks ago. I am at peace knowing that he was at "home" at Rutherford, with his last "family". There are many other places that are more luxurious but none where care comes from the heart, like it did at Rutherford. It even reflected in the atitude of the other residents: they surounded and protected "Pops" with unmatched compassion. If I could, I would rate the experience a 10. As it is, I give it a 5+. Thank You All.
January 2022
I'm sure part of the problem there is because of labor shortage due to the covid plandemic if I had it to do over I would not send my loved one there. There were a few very kind caring individuals there as far as the nursing staff and a couple of the aids You could tell that they cared but after my mother was on hospice in that assisted living It all was downhill from there and she ended up passing away after I changed her to another hospice facility
December 2021
The staff really cares about my mother in law! They are always available if we have questions and concerns. We are very thankful for them!

July 2020
Caring staff and Administration whose first priority is the well being and care of their residents. A beautiful place to call home where residents can stay active and enjoy everyday to the fullest!
June 2020
My grandmother is in memory care here and she loves it. Each time we window visit her room is spotless, her hair is done, her clothes match, and her bed is nicely made. This facility is 100 times better than Stones River Manor especially if the resident has severe Alzheimers like my grandmother. Im very happy my family made the choice to move her here!
April 2020
Joy is so warm and professional to all of her residents! This is a great community and I highly recommend it!
April 2020

March 2020
My mom has been here a year and we are very pleased. The staff bends over backwards to help her and support me as well. Very grateful for the quality of care she gets at this facility.
March 2020
Awesome facility. State was in for only one day this year and the nursing department had absolutely no deficiencies in either building. The DON really does a great job. The whole administration team does an amazing job- they work together so efficiently. I absolutely love the residents and the residents family.
February 2020
I am enjoying employee here, love the residents and most staff! Great place for the elderly to live. Also have a separate memory care building!
February 2020
I have been visiting this facility since 2005 since my sister began working there. Occasionally stopping by for birthdays or other special occasions. Since it has become The Rutherford and they have started all of the community outreach events my grandchildren love to visit Aunt Pam (DON) and all the sweet grandparents she works with (the residents). The Halloween party was their favorite. The residents love seeing my grandchildren and talking with them. Mrs. Becca, Mrs. Kristen and Ms. Emily are so friendly and professional. They all truly want what is best for the residents. This is a family friendly home environment.
February 2020
Definitely recommend coming here! The director Joy Galland is amazing at what she does! Very nice and welcomed us with open arms! Love their weekly specials!
February 2020
The current director of nursing began working for this facility back In 2005 as an LPN. She resigned from her position in 2013 to pursue further education and greater job opportunities. After working at many other geriatric facilities and mental health facilities during her time off, she returned to The Rutherford in 2016 simply because other facilities did not care for their residents and patients like the Rutherford does. I have much fulfillment and gratification knowing how much the Rutherford Assisted Living and Memory care have positively impacted the lives of the residents and families whom reside there.
February 2020
My family and I trusted Rutherford Assisted Living with my grandpa, when we were no longer able to devote the time needed to take proper care of him. We could not have picked a more perfect place for him to spend his last couple of months. The Rutherford attended to every one of his medical needs and provided him with delicious food and comfort. He was always happy when we came to visit, but said he felt like he was home there too. The Executive Director, Joy Galland made the entire process stress free and easy, while reassuring me along the way that my grandpa would love it there. I highly recommend leaving your loved ones in this facilitys hands, you will not regret it.

My dad has been at the memory care unit a little over three months, and he calls it home. The staff is excellent; dad loves the food; and and they have lots of activities for the residents. They take great care of dad! Im glad The Rutherford was our choice for dads care!

January 2019
Awesome place with one of the greatest people ever working there.
January 2019
I have called this place home since 2005. I started my nursing career here. I did leave for a bit to further my nursing career and dabbled a bit in psych nursing but truly missed this community. I was very excited when I was asked to return to work here. We have the most wonderful residents and families. I and proud to say how much our staff care for them all.
