We would like to share our heartfelt experience with The Arbors at Hauppauge and especially thank Ana Reano, Director of Community Outreach, from the bottom of our hearts. Ana was absolutely wonderful throughout the entire process. Her patience, kindness, compassion, and the gentle way she approached our mom during the tour were truly exceptional. She genuinely cared about Mom’s well-being and took the time to understand our family’s concerns and needs during such an emotional decision. Although our family ultimately decided not to move forward with the facility because Mom’s daughter chose to care for her at home, we cannot say enough about Ana’s professionalism, dedication, and resourcefulness. She made a very difficult process feel so much easier and less overwhelming. The facility itself is beautiful, welcoming, and filled with very friendly residents and staff. If you are looking for guidance, support, or information about assisted living, Ana is truly the person you want by your side. She has an amazing ability to match your loved one’s unique needs with the care and services they offer. Thank you again, Ana, for your kindness and all the support you gave our family. We are deeply grateful.

We moved my 89 year old Mother into the Arbors the beginning of December. The staff could not have been more helpful and caring in getting her settled in. There's always an adjustment period, but she is doing great, loves the food and made a few friends already. We feel so much more comfortable knowing Mom is in a safe and vibrant environment with caring, compassionate people caring for her. She cant wait for the weather to get better. She's looking forward to the day trips. Bring on the Bingo!! Cheryl Sullivan

I spoke to Anna and others from this assistant Living and they were all very professional and very kind. They helped me all tremendously to get my sister into their place. My sister Lynda lives there now and she absolutely loves everything about the place. She says the food is amazing they have entertainment and things to do all day. It has a theatre room also a hair salon and many other great facilities for everyone who lives there. My sister says they’ve all been very friendly and helpful throughout her whole moving a couple months ago. Thank you everyone with Arbors Assistant. Robert C

Updated 12/23/24. It's nearly 5 years later and my family feels the same as my original post. The staff is warm, friendly, personal, and professional. My dad is safe and happy. The Wellness Staff is nurturing. Cindy is patient, understanding, and informative. Yvonne has so many options to keep him social and busy - a special thank you to Keron for encouraging my dad to strum on his guitar again. My dad enjoys the food so much he's told me he often tells them, "Surprise me", when they take his order in the dining hall. They've renovated since he's moved in and everything looks fresh and homey. He's made friends with so many people. It is very reassuring to know we made the right decision with The Arbors at Hauppauge. I am extremely grateful. Original post: January 2020: My dad only moved into the Arbors of Hauppauge a little over a week ago, but my husband and I have been interacting with the incredible Care Team since late October. It has been a positive and reassuring experience for all of us. My first contact was over the phone with Pam. Pam took the time to listen to my dad’s journey’, answer my numerous questions, and go over what to expect during the next several steps. She knew we would be touring the other Arbors, and spoke positively of all the facilities. Pam gave me tips and gentle advice to avoid being overwhelmed during our visits. She had our best interest in mind for this very difficult decision we were about to make for my dad’s unexpected new home and lifestyle. My gut told me Hauppauge would be the place for my dad - despite that we hadn’t yet toured one facility. Tour Day came and within minutes of witnessing Pam’s caring and bubbly interaction with the residents - as well as, positive feedback from the residents, themselves - there was so much communal energy, we knew we’d made our choice. From there, we met Kate, who visited my dad in the nursing home - not once, but several times after he was delayed from discharging due to falling and breaking his hip. For over two months, she lifted not only my dad’s spirits, but ours as well, by keeping constant contact with us the whole time during dad’s heart-wrenching set back. Please note, we hadn’t even given a deposit at this point in time, and I had continued to cross-reference Hauppauge’s reliability with other elder care sources. Following Pam and Kate, was Shannon. Shannon smoothly continued where the others left off. She answers our every question and concern immediately and thoroughly with personal professionalism. In the short time my dad’s been there, we’ve met so many others...Jackie, Yvonne, Matt, June, the care, recreation, and housekeeping teams, and every last person at the front desk. All have been cheerful and patient, always happy to stop, chat, guide, and reassure us. Moving a parent into an assisted living is an emotional and life-changing experience, filled with sleepless nights, second guessing, and endless behind-the-scenes legwork. Though I don’t know what my dad’s future will be, I can honestly say that the Arbors of Hauppauge is a beautiful facility and offers everything your loved one will need. But that’s just the surface. It’s the hearts on the inside that count. Go meet the staff. Talk to the residents. And then you’ll understand our choice.

Last week I wrote a bad review for the Arbors, and within a few hours everything that should have been done was completed. I also received a phone call from the director which I was very happy about. We talked and some things got cleared up. Unfortunately, I am still not allowed to put a microwave in my dad’s room and apparently my father was told this before he signed. Hopefully my dad will find a friend or 2 and will decide to live instead of just existing. But that is not on The Arbors, that’s on my dad. As for the food in the dining hall, I wish they would have 2 seatings for each meal because it’s a lot of people to feed in 1 1/2 hours and that’s probably why you need to be so specific when ordering your meal.

Friendly caring staff, they are a pleasure to deal with!
January 2024
My father moved in to The Arbors earlier this month and I cannot say enough good things about the staff and the facility. Every staff member has been knowledgeable, welcoming, and reassuring. The residents are friendly and engaged. The common areas are homey, the dining room is lovely, and the rooms are spacious. My father reports that the food is good and he is enjoying the daily social hour and the exercise activities. Making the decision to move into an assisted living community is rarely easy, but everyone at The Arbors at Hauppauge has helped ease the transition from our very first tour. I am confident that I can communicate with them anytime, and that my father is a valued and respected member of The Arbors family.

My mother was at first very resistant to living in an Assisted Living Facility but now it has been five weeks since moving in and mom has made lots of new friends, participates in many of the activities, and considers The Arbors her home.

Hi my daughter and I went to check out the Arbor for my mom . We had our appointment with Page . She was truly so caring and Interested in my mom. After giving us a tour and all the information she called me to follow up and even when I told her my mom was in the hospital and probably would not make it to the Arbor she was so caring and even called me again to see how I was doing and to ask how mom was doing and if there was anything she could do to help . I would have rated it a 5 star but my mom did not get to live at the Arbor . I so wanted her to . She is in a rehabilitation now . I would highly recommend this place because of our encounter with Page

We were given a tour by Paige and Stacey. We were there to assess the facilities for my Aunt and Uncle. The amenities are quite nice. The staff was very friendly and I feel it would be a great choice for anyone looking for assisted living. Paige snd Stacey were quite helpful answering any questions we had.

My eighty-two year old father is SO happy at the Arbor’s at Happauge. My dad lives alone in NYC and is beginning to need some help with his medications and wanted to live closer to me on the islsnd. We looked at a few facilities and felt the Arbors was the right fit for dad. We met with Paige and her patience, caring and kindness during this time of change helped us ease into the decision to move dad closer to us. The administrator Jackie helped us with the paperwork and we felt confident dad was in good hands. Dad is very happy and so are we!

This Thanksgiving 2020, my mom will have lived here at the Arbors in Hauppauge for 1 year. I can't thank Pam Greene enough for guiding us through from beginning to end to ensure that my mom would be happy living here at the Arbors in Hauppauge. She guided us every step of the way, and was always available whenever we had questions. She went above and beyond to make sure that it was a smooth transition for my mom. There are no regrets, or doubts that my mom is where she should be and I personally want to thank you Pam for your kind and very professional service and also for being an everyday friend to my mom. She loves you and all the staff that work there and make her life happy every day. Feel free to give any interested parties my name and cell as a reference for you and the Arbors Assisted living in Hauppauge. Sincerely, Karen Schruhl

My dad is very happy there. He especially enjoys the freedom he feels from the frequent outings. Any complaints are resolved very quickly. Although he might rebel if they ever take bingo out of the regular program. My experience has been just as good. Requests are handled expediently and cheerfully within reason. They really are kind and helpful. It’s not cheap, nor should it be. And peace of mind is priceless.

My dad has been there for over a year and a half and been treated like family! The staff is wonderful and always attends to any of his needs. His room is always clean and there is always something for him to do throughout the day. His meals are great too! He even gained the Freshman 15 his first year there! We are more than thrilled knowing he is well tended to by people who truly care!

My great aunt is a resident at the Arbors in Hauppauge and I have watched her do a complete turn around since she moved in, in a positive way. She lived alone and was getting weak and forgetting to take her medication and not eating very well, and now she is thriving and has made friendships, eats three hot meals every day and i feel her life is much more enriched. She gave us a very hard time about moving her into an assisted living but she now says that she is the happiest shes been since before her husband passed away. Staff is consistent and they care very much about the people who live there. The staff who run the activities are full of life and really get everyone involved. The aids are really attentive and from what I've witnessed they treat the people here like their own family. The administrator of the building and the wellness director both changed during my great aunt's stay but the transition was seamless and my great aunt and the rest of my family has had very wonderful interaction with both Debra and Kaitlin. Shannon the case manager is an absolute GOD SEND and puts my great aunt at ease when she has worries....which is often. I've read other reviews and it shocks me to see anything negative. Sure the hallways are a little long and the building isnt brand new and elaborate, but it just feels like home when you come through the front doors. (Kudos to Christine at the front desk too - she is so warm and kind!) Overall my family cannot speak highly enough about the Arbors!!
April 2019
After seeing the low reviews I had to write a review on my family’s experience at The arbors in Hauppauge. After researching assisted living facilities we decided on The arbors facility in Hauppauge. We believe it’s the best kept secret tucked away in a easy to get to location. Both of our parents are living there. It’s been only a couple of months so far so I can only relay what we have encountered thus far. The staff is wonderful. They are friendly and caring. The wellness office is always open to listening to any concerns we have and are eager to do whatever my parents need done. The maintenance staff and housekeeping staff are great. People who work there seem to be happy employees and have a great repour with the people living there. They go over and beyond to make living there a pleasurable experience There are so many daily activities if you want to participate. My parents have raved about the food served at the dining room The chef and the kitchen staff must be really good The administrative staff gave us all the information we needed to make a decision on whether it was a good place for our parents. There were no surprises or hidden costs. Howard is very sincere and professional and runs a very nice facility. Shannon has taken care of all the ins and outs of paperwork that was needed when my parents decided it was a good fit and would move in. The wellness staff is making sure our parents are getting what they need The facility we feel is very clean and is decorated in such a cheery manner. The front desk staff is always smiling and greeting you when you walk in. The staff are very welcoming to the family and we are very happy with the decision we made choosing The Arbors. The recreation staff goes out of their way to reach out to get our parents to participate in an activity. In addition the people who are living at The Arbors are very nice and friendly and helpful to each other. We were hesitant and worried how things would work out but so far it’s really been good. Our parents are happy there and always tell us how nice everyone there is. And they said they would recommend the place to everyone We have had a positive experience here. I will say that sometimes not everyone cannot be in assisted living because they need a higher level of care. In that case it may not be the fit someone needs. Thank you to the staff working at the Arbors my family really appreciates the work you do there
