Two and a half years ago, my mother-in-law moved into Brookdale Wornall Place. Understandably, she wasn't too happy about the transition, but the staff made her feel very welcome. I want to highlight Sergine, a truly exceptional young lady with a heart of gold. Her compassion and dedication to the residents were evident from the start. From the moment my family and I met her, we knew we could rely on her. Sergine went above and beyond to advocate for my mother-in-law and every resident. Despite her busy schedule, she always made time for each individual, consistently maintaining a warm smile and never displaying rudeness. Many families counted on her and felt assured knowing their loved ones were safe in her care. Sergine's leadership skills are commendable, and both Brookdale and the residents are fortunate to have her as part of the team. While no facility is perfect, Sergine created an atmosphere that made Wornall feel just about ideal. Her reputation has spread throughout Kansas City, and I would confidently recommend Brookdale Wornall Place to anyone seeking care for their loved ones, always mentioning the positive impact Sergine had on our family. Even though my mother-in-law is no longer able to reside at the facility, Sergine still takes the time to visit her, which is a rare and appreciated gesture. Overall, the staff is commendable, and Sergine leads with respect and integrity, earning the admiration of her colleagues.

Beautiful place, convenient location and a really home- like atmosphere. The staff knew residents by name, and sought to engage with them at every opportunity. I was very impressed.

Nothing special here, they are there to get as much money as they can before you die. For the last 6 years quality of food and services have declined year over year but the rent keeps going up much faster than inflation rates every year. They’ll do the bare minimum to keep you alive.

ALTHOUGH CORONAVIRUS AT BROOKDALE WORNALL PLACE, AND THINGS. ARE NOT THE SAME AS THEY WERE WHEN I MOVED IN THREE YEARS AGO , THEY ARE MOSTLY CORONAVIRUS NORMAL . THEY HAVE A DIRECTOR , ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, DEPARTMENT HEADS OF. DINING AND FOOD SERVICES, MAINTENANCE , HOUSEKEEPING, ACTIVITIES, PERSONALIZED, ASSISTED LIVING ,A CHEF COLIN , A CONCIERGE , AND HOLLY. AND CHARLES , THAT ARE QUITE RESIDENT CENTERED. AND RESIDENT ORIENTED . IN THIS TIME OF CORONAVIRUS , ALL THE STAFF PITCH IN AND WORK AS A TEAM TO MAKE LIVING AT BROOKDALE THE BEST AND THE SAFEST AS POSSIBLE. ALL STAFF AND RESIDENTS WEAR THEIR MASKS WHEN OUTSIDE THEIR ROOMS . ALL STAFF HAVE BEEN WEARING MASKS , FACE SHIELDS AND GLOVES AS WELL AS OTHER PPE AS DIRECTED . THE FIRST VACCINE SHOTS WERE GIVEN FRIDAY . YEARS HAVE PASSED AND THE TURNOVER OF STAFF AND THE NUMEROUS TIMES THE ELEVATORS KEEP BREAKING DOWN FOR WEAKS AT A TIME . FOOD AND SERVERS HAVE GOTTEN WORSE AND THE BEAUTIFUL COURTYARD. LOOKS LIKE A WAR ZONE AS THEY ARE RAISING THE BOARD AND ROOM AGAIN ANOTHER 10% . BTW DO NOT LOOK AT THE FLOOR AS YOU TOUR THE PLACE .

Brookdale is great! Not only do we have good housekeeping including laundry; on the ball maintenance; dining room with healthy food selections; but a swimming pool and hot tub with water aerobics classes taught by a certified teacher. We have many classes - exercise, clay, jewelry, etc., the front desk has friendly receptionists at all times. But most of all, I enjoy the games - hand and foot canasta, Mahjongg, poker, bingo, Kings in the Corner, Rummikube, Dominoes, and Pinochle, played with my many new wonderful friends!

My mother-in-law lived at Brookdale from Sept. of 2022 through most of March, and passed away Mar. 24 2023. My father-law is still living there. The staff was a tremendous help and very sympathetic when my mother-in-law became gravely ill. Throughout their stay they have received excellent care and friendly service at all times. They enjoyed all the programs, gatherings and social opportunities provided. Brookdale was and remains a perfect fit. My mother-in-law stated it was one of the best places she ever lived.

It was a real push to get my mother to agree to move out of her unwieldy house into an apartment where she had the extra support of great meals, regular cleaning services, and lots of social activities. A few months later she was telling people it was her favorite place she ever lived. Sadly, she passed recently. But the staff and residents have been super supportive to my dad. The routine of meal times, movie night, and other activities give him extra social support he wouldn't have had being alone in their old house. The staff has bent over backwards to accommodate his needs. My siblings are all so grateful to know he's in a great place that suits his physical and social needs right now.

Te pol looks nice but, if you can't yransfer independently, orwalk ups6airs, you can't use the pool. It jasa liftt getyou97tof thewayer, but nothing tohangon to except the chain for the lift. Which makes it difficult to get oit of the liftseat and into your wheelchair. Thr staff is not permitted to help you because the risk istoo high and the liability o great. I've e n ttying to use the pool for 5 years & I haven't been in it yet. The food is typical big cafeteria food. Not great but usually eatable. The staff is made up of many different peronalities. There is always someone you can appreciate. But with all the other residents they vlhave to care for, sometimes you justhaveto be patient. I'm so slow Im yeacjing the syaff patience. Some ofthem are learñing, some are just complaining. But most are kind and helpful. It has been kinda lonesome recently with the social distancing practices in place. I have a hard time remembering names, but it is really tough when they are wearing masks. It's less lonely than living alone in a house when you cañ't drive or walk.

My father lived at Brookdale Wornall in a lovely, reasonably priced apartment for two years until he recently passed away. The staff - particularly Leann and Lisa - were kind and helpful. The activities, especially the daily fitness options and transportation, were excellent. Those, plus the opportunity for residents to initiate activities such as lectures, kept my father healthy and happy.
