My brother stayed at the Care One facility in Wayne for over 1 year. The care he received was less than acceptable. Typically management and staff did not respond to numerous telephone calls nor were they available on personal visits. On the day that my brother passed away I visited him in his room at about 11 am - he was what appeared to be sleeping with his eyes and mouth open but he was breathing but in distress. I tried to find a nurse or any staff member to look in on him but to no avail. I left the facility in complete distress over the lack of personnel response. I received a telephone call at 8:30 that evening saying he passed away. Two days later Care One withdrew $10,000 from my brothers personal checking account. They claimed it was pre-authorized. I did not know that you could withdraw funds from a deceased persons checking account. I tried to call to get information especially from billing and as usual no telephone call was returned. Furthermore, no calls or letters of condolences were offered to date for a person who passed away three weeks ago. There are a few good staff members, Marion and a few nurses in particul;ar, but I found Care One, in the end, cared more about money then the persons condition. I would not recommend placing your loved one in this facility.
