My father has lived at Gaines Ranch (independent living with a small level of additional assistance from the very helpful in-house Brookdale At Home services) for 9 months. Prior to moving to Gaines Ranch (after living with me for a year and a half), he was not interested in exploring senior communities at all, but now he loves it. I visit daily to spend time with him and it is such a wonderful place to visit. I alway feel welcome to join in the activities, the staff greets me by name, I have made many new "senior" friends and my father loves being independent again and having a steady stream of activities and friends in his peer group. The entire place feels friendly, welcoming and very much like home. The director and his staff go out of their way to serve selflessly and address the residents' needs in an efficient and timely manner. No job is below them and they work together wonderfully. It shows in their low turnover rate. It feels to me like my father has actually gotten younger since moving to Gaines Ranch! It is all of the fun with none of the worry - for both my father and myself. I get to be the daughter again and just enjoy quality time with my father and he knows he is well cared for yet still independent in a consistently well maintained loving environment even when I have to travel out of town. UPDATE: 3 years later and my opinion has only gotten better. It is a welcoming place because of the staff and residents who all contribute to making it cozy and fun!

The staff is outstanding! They do an amazing job of hiring and retaining caring staff in every department. The location is great. You can be almost anywhere in Austin in 20 minutes or less - airport, downtown, campus, shopping, theater. Most residents are friendly with a great diversity in backgrounds. Menu is varied and very good and head of dining solicits feedback. Activity staff is outstanding and provides a wide variety of recurring and special events including music, exercise and speakers. This is a great place to live. If someone needs to move from Independent Living to Assisted Living, they are not moved to a separate building and not cut-off from their IL friends the way they are in many other places.

I am SO happy at the Ranch (as I call it). Exceptional staff”kind, caring and efficient. I feel safe and comfortable here, and I LIKE the food!!!! My apartment is so beautiful and has a fantastic view, and is much bigger than my 500 square foot apartment in New York where I lived and worked for 47 years!!!!!

I started coming to this building about three years ago as a clinician. I pretty much judge every building by how the resident was treated and how they spoke about the community. The residents consistently loved talking about Gaines Ranch. They would talk about their friends, their favorite activities, how they could walk inside in the summer & still get there steps in. They genuinely loved it. The only downside was I had to revolve my schedule around their hair and social schedules. I also have personal memories of this community. I remember picking up my best friend’s grandma to drive her to my best friend’s wedding. I made some joke about her living in a fancy hotel and she told me I had no idea how good it was. I’m pretty sure I had some comment about how I was gonna be here neighbor. I recently went into this community and realized it was still beautiful and bustling with life and fun. It’s easy to get distracted by how beautiful it is and how well-maintained it is. However, I am always going to focus on how happy the residents are. I recently had the good fortune of meeting Audry and Eliza, they are both wonderful women who are very easy to work with. If you know anyone looking for a beautiful, thriving, independent living community. Make sure to send them to Brookdale Gaines Ranch.

We are so appreciative of the kindnesses shown us and the responsiveness to our every request. The entire staff and employees are so accommodating. They always go the extra mile to say, Yes! We love the people, the programs and we especially love the frequent music programs. In fact, we say, We’re just here for the music and everything else! Never imagined it would be this good.

Brookdale has been an outstanding place for my father-in-law to live for the past couple years. I would take my kids to visit him almost every Wednesday which happens to be happy hour for the residents. They serve food and alcoholic/nonalcoholic beverages. Throughout the year they have events that include kids, like for Halloween and Christmas. My kids loved this! Overall this has been the best place for my father-in-law to live, the staff is so friendly, the food is good and Nic (GM) was so understanding when we had to move out. 10 stars, cheers!!!

So happy that we found Brookdale Gaines Ranch for our Mother. It’s a lovely, well maintained facility with an amazing personal staff that is very attentive to our Mother’s needs. She loves all the activities and says the food is always delicious! We can not imagine a better place for our Mother. I highly recommend it!

Brookdale Gaines Ranch has changed my mother's life. She was not interested in moving into "one of those places". When she discovered that she could have her own complete apartment in Independent Living, she went for it. She has made good friends and loves the community. The staff is wonderful and cares about each individual. Highly recommend!

I knew no one when I came here two years ago. I now have many friends. Ask people to attend church with you. Introduce them to others. Do crafts together. Reach out if they need help .

Our dad has experienced such kindness and caring at Brookdale Gaines Ranch. He enjoys the many activities offered and we appreciate that the AL staff and the Activities staff help him get to them. He has also made many friends who are also kind and caring. It is a very special place. And though things are not always perfect, the staff is open to listening and trying to make things better. There is no question that their hearts are in the right place wanting BGR to be the best it can be for all of its residents. They go above and beyond to accomplish this.

I can't express enough gratitude for the work Nic Snyder (GM) and his team did for my Mom Mary while she has been at this facility from 2016-2022. If you are going through the process of taking care of your beloved parent and transitioning them to an independent living or assisted living senior center, I highly recommend Brookdale Gaines Ranch. Nic hires a team who bring a passion for Seniors by making the time they have left during their last chapter, the best it can possibly be. There were so many times that I did not have an answer for what my Mom was going through and Brookdale Gaines Ranch always came through for my wife and I and my Mom. Thank you from our heart to Nic and BGR!

I can't say enough about Gaines Ranch as a quality facility and organization. My parents moved there in 2010 because dad was having health issues and mom was already in her 90s. We moved them into independent living and at first they missed their own home, but once they got into the swing of the activities and met some other couples they were fine, my mom especially liked the fact she no longer had to cook and clean, my dad loved going to breakfast every day with friends. As time went on and health problems increased I moved them to assisted living which took a huge load off my mom with medicines and the increased service levels. Dad passed in late 2016 and the staff was wonderful with my mom and served as a great support group. After dad passed away my mom's health went downhill rather quickly and the Assisted Living Staff took excellent care of her, kept me informed of anything they noticed that needed medical evaluation and were always helpful to me when I contacted them about her. My mom who was an Army nurse in WWII and the Korean war paid them the ultimate compliment when she told me that they had taken really good care of her and dad, not something she admits readily. As the end became evident, rather than telling me I needed to move her to a skill nursing facility, they provided care, in concert with Hospice until the end. I will always recommend them to my friends and anyone who ask.. Brookdale as a corporation provided many services as a courtesy that are not readily evident, such as coordination with hospitals, skill nursing and in some cases insurance companies that have proven invaluable to me, especially with the many ER visits and hospital/rehab stays the last few years.

My mother lived her for five years, until she passed on June 14, 2017, and in that time I'm guessing I only had one complaint ever. It's a fabulous, caring facility. Mom was in both independent and assisted living, with both sections full of incredible staff. Speaking of staff, most of them have been there the whole five years which is rare in this industry. I live locally and as a frequent visitor I wish I could give it ten stars!!!
